  1. Yep stress or migraines make mine worse. Also colds or sinus issues, changes in weather conditions seem to affect it but that's probably the sinus thing again. If i think about it, it seems to be more noticeable. It seems to go thru spells of being more noticeable and then times i hardlt notice it. Dave
  2. Sounded great. Well done. Pity the camera guy focused mainly on the guitarist playing a simple rhythm most of the time.
  3. That was it. Cheers for that it was bugging me trying to remember. Dave
  4. I thought Ray Wilson did a good job on the Genesis album. His earlier band were pretty good IMO of course. Think this song was used on a TV advert or something like that. Think he could have done better for himself if he hadn't went with Genesis altho it probably opened a few doors for him i expect.
  5. Phil's son is a phenomenal drummer and think he'll do a great job. I cant get past Phil having to sit down but from what i've seen in a few clips on youtube i thought they sounded pretty good. Dave
  6. I do that too but i end up with a painful finger but i'm playing either punk or 70's Glam Rock songs. Can manage one or two songs that way LOL
  7. And a bass would look better in any pic 😁 Long hair always looks better. 😂 Dave
  8. 100 % agree. I like to know i've done enough to feel comfortable at a gig. Different bands mean different rehearsal time tho. Some bands it just clicks and can gig within a few months others take a bit longer. I've done a few gigs where i was the new guy and learning sets in 2-3 weeks and gigging. I did ok but was never comfortable and relaxed doing them. I've always maintained a strict 3 rehearsals without mistakes before we are ready. Works for most bands. Dave
  9. That's really nice. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Wee quick question but where were you hiding the pick changing from fingers to pick style 😀 Bass sounding exceptionally nice. Thanks for sharing. Dave
  10. First rehearsal with a new punk band today. Started off using my Fender PJ that's been sitting doing nothing since i bought my VM4. Got thru first 6 songs and decided i preferred the feel of my Sandberg. It was like night and day. I was getting a few aches in first 6 songs but after changing to the VM4 i finished the remaining 34 songs without issue. No aches, no pains at all. The Sandberg is just so much more comfortable and why its been my goto bass since the day i bought it. Dave
  11. Forgot about that Lee altho not sure i'd be comfortable in your type of audience there. 😂 Dave
  12. Would love to have done this as a tribute / cover band. Would take a lot of work putting it together and getting musicians that like the idea would be even more difficult. Thanks for producing this one Rob. 👍 Dave
  13. Can you re-use the original screws in the new straplocks ? Are they too short ? Dave
  14. An audiologist at work suggested that was possibly the reason for a drop in response on one frequency in my right ear altho he was confused why just my right ear. It was still above average for my age but have since developed a touch of tinnitus in that ear too. Coincidence, just getting old or loud drummers ? Who knows. Dave
  15. 2nd pic looks better. Very Sam Elliot from Roadhouse movie 😂 Dave
  16. Pity its so far away. I would like to have tried before buying but that's a great price. GLWTS Dave
  17. Sane here, played Ace of Spades fingerstyle in a rock covers band about 5 yrs ago and must admit i had no problems with it. Tried it with a pick but nope just couldn't get to grips with it at all. Dave
  18. I was never into punk in 70's. I'm more rock / prog background as far as bands are concerned. Have to say the bands previous bass player who i know really well was like me and into Supertramp and similar bands in 70's but he said the band was just great fun and thoroughly enjoyed playing the songs. And to be fair i'm really enjoying learning the songs. Some of the bass parts are far better than i ever imagined. Some talented punk musicians back then. I can remember hearing Into the Valley done in French back in the day. The punk band get regular gigs altho not great money compared to 70's Glam covers band but more gigs. I'm happy to gig provided my costs are covered. Have a support gig to Skababs in October so that should be a fun night. That will be my first gig with the band. Dave
  19. I need to learn Into the Valley by the Skids. Luckily a mate bass player knows the song and told me the E string is detuned to D to play it. I've given it a try and it sounds pretty good but will get back to that one as i work thru the bands set list. He would detune his E string just for that one song and retune straight after it. Another one i'm struggling a bit with and is such a simple wee song is Love Song by The Damned. Its not technically difficult but just odd changes for me. I'd never heard the song before and the original official song the bass isn't eactly clear in the mix but found a good cover on youtube where the guy put up the bass tab on the bottom of the screen as he was playing it. Dave
  20. I'm generally not a pick player and only restarted using one in past few weeks when I joined a punk covers band but I get severe finger cramp and pins and needles in my fingers after a while. To be fair I have 42 songs to learn in 3-4weeks and at it morn noon and evening. Took Mon off and hand back to normal. I hold the pick very lightly too.
  21. Maybe i should actually try it first before making a bold statement 😂 I used to practice Percy Jones, Jeff Berlin and a few others like them back in early 80's when i was an absolute bass geek and would think nothing of doing that kind of thing but with age i definitely slowed down. Some of that thru lack of pushing myself like i did at 20yrs of age and just losing the inclination or need to play that fast. It did get me into some good bands back in 80's as most rock bands had never heard that style of playing and guitarists used to hate when i played their solo part on the bass. I used to think that was hilarious the first time you do it. The look on a guitarist face was priceless. I was practicing 2-3 hrs every day after work before hitting pub at 9pm. Happy days but i generally dont play fast things like that these days except faffing about in the house when i have no set lists to learn. I think age has taught me that speed isnt always the best thing to play....... in a band situation of course. Dave
  22. Now that was really nice. I could probably get it if i worked at it but couldn't maintain that speed for too long. Would def take me a while to work it out. Really enjoyed that plus a gorgeous background to be playing against. Dave
  23. I just love the Sandberg necks. Every one i've tried has been top notch and unable to fault. Yep keep us posted what you think of them when they come in. Dave
