  1. Not at all. It surprised the audience even more than me. It did produce less mistakes with the battery out. I've come to realise that when it comes to my playing Silence is Golden. Dave
  2. I took the battery out the pedal. That helped create more ambience around the silence. The playing kinda suffered tho. Dave
  3. I hadn't thought about it until now. I need to experiment at tonights gig. I want absolute silence when i tune so if there is a better way to get the perfect silence when tuning i'm all in for trying. 😂 Dave
  4. My tuner has a definite sound change when i put it in line to the amp. It mutes the sound when tuning Sorry just couldn't resist the obvious plus its almost time so i'm happy. Dave
  5. Its the tone i'm not keen on. It sounds more like someone using Moog playing bass notes. It doesn't sound like a proper bass IMO of course. I dont think i'd ever use it in a band situation. Good fun at home altho i've tried it at home and the novelty soon wore off. I managed to get the technique pretty much sorted when using them and had no trouble getting them to track properly. It was really just the tone i wasn't keen on. If it sounded like a bass guitar but playing an octave lower i might have liked that more. The Fisman pedal does that altho i think it only goes a 4th lower with either a 5th or full octave higher but it still sounds like a bass guitar. My current bands i just wouldn't have any use for it. Dave
  6. Not quite following what you mean. Any chance you could elaborate. I am curious to find out more. Dave
  7. Not my kind of music and makes it hard to decide on whether the octaver works. It certainly gives a fair bit of depth but its not a bass tone i personally like. It reminds me of the old synth bass we used to get in the 80's. Dave
  8. Yep have to admit i'm with you on this. Had the Boss octaver pedal, Ashdown amp and my Roland 6T6B mfx unit isnt too impressive either. Personally i'd just hire in a keys player and do the job right. Oddly enough i've heard a few solo bassists use them and they sounded ok as part of their solo but never in a band situ. Once saw a guy use a Fishman pedal that was quite impressive (cant remember the model) but again he was doing solo bass to show it. Dave
  9. Depends on the band. Glam Rock band i use my Roland GT6B but have one clean sound, one set up as a Ric bass into an overdriven valve amp and 2x15 cab and 3rd channel set as Envelope filter for one song. Punk band is straight from bass to Mesa rig. I much prefer direct to amp. Less fuss, less gear to carry and set up. Dave
  10. Hadn't thought about the weight. Are they still making them ? Also quite expensive basses too Dave
  11. Oddly enough i've never heard a Pedulla used in a band situation but that P/J pick up config they must be pretty decent. I did consider buying one few yrs back when i first saw Doug using his but probably just my wishful thinking that i would be able to play like him. 😂 Dave
  12. Def think the Pedulla has a superior sound and suits his style better. Sharper and clearer. The Sandberg sounds a bit muddier altho its a nice sounding bass and i'm a fan of Sandbergs. Dave
  13. I'm using Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm versions. Love the tone from them. Not overly bassy and everything comes across clear. Had Sennheisers before these (cant remember the model) thought they were good but they were a bit more bassy and not as clear as the DT770's Dave
  14. When i use my index finger as a pick i have a tendency to sound a bit like that. Possible i picked that up from watching Doug play good few yrs back. Amazing player and always entertaining to watch. I dont get that effect when i try using a pick just with my index finger as a pick. ??? Dave
  15. I never picked up on the Geddy thing till you mentioned it. Does sound quite like him. 😂 Dave
  16. Oddly enough i still have a cassette player but no cassettes. Decided to throw them out altho i did copy some of my better recordings onto CD's. The DeoxIT D5 will be here mid week so i might try it on some of the 2nd hand kit i've bought recently that has minor crackling when pots moved. Dave
  17. A 3 piece rock band i joined did that to me in middle of Crossroads and the singer/guitarist announced a bass solo and stopped playing. I had no choice but do something so i just played a few finger picking chords on Crossroads structure and strummed a few times and got a great round of applause at the end. Have to say that was my scariest moment ever playing in bands. Dave
  18. WOW that's a proper change of image. Prefer his Pedulla sound to be honest even tho i'm a Sandberg fan. Dave
  19. Saw some vids from 2019 and he still had a good head of heair and ponytail and still with his Pedulla so i'm guessing you were jesting us. 😂 Dave
  20. Good job you werent looking for a Pooh Bear. 😂
  21. The guy from the audience certainly took the P out of her. 😂
  22. I've been using a stuff called Dylek Electronic cleaner i got from work many many years ago. It freezes and then evaporates very quickly but it clears dirty pots really well. Its classed as an electronics cleaner but i wasn't aware of the grease element on the pots so that's news for me. I've had the can since the late 90's and its only just gone empty. I used to use it to clean cassette heads back in the old days. Spray onto a cotton bud and clean the heads. Worked a treat. I'm going to order some Deoxit D5 from Amazon as it seems to get most praise out of them all. Dave
  23. Is the Duff McKagan bass a passive one. I was sure he could switch the pickups in and out in some way. Agree we need to see some pics of your gear. Dave
  24. Dont think Inverness has ever had any.😂 Dave
  25. My Mesa Mpulse has a 2 knob Threshold and Ratio compressor and that works pretty well too. I dont use it all the time but when i do I use the recommended settings from the manual and it just limits my volume very slightly when digging in. Dave
