  1. All opinions welcome. If it helps people make a decision you should speak your mind. Dave
  2. Not heard of them. Where did you buy them ? Dave
  3. Cleartone ones ordered 2 off at 2m length. Prices are excellent compared to elsewhere especially when using Van Damme cable with Pro Nuetriks. £13.50 each. Cheers guys. Dave
  4. I used to make all my own cables years ago and being from an Instrument and electronics background soldering and cabling isnt really a problem for me. I'm just lazy these days and prefer to buy them especially when i only need one spare cable. Dave
  5. Having bought all my cables from Bassic-bits in last few years i now need a couple of spare Speakons and was wondering who everyone else is using these days ? I liked the Heavy Duty feel of OBBM cables especially the Speakon to Speakon ones. Any suggestions welcome. Dave

    Band PA

Would have to agree with that. Our female singer actually helps the drummer set up his kit and does a really good job of it. She knows how to set it up on her own. She also helps carry gear in and out venues altho being older guys we tend not to let her attempt the heavy kit but that's an age generation thing. She's a similar age to us. Dave

    Band PA

I'm lucky in main band the singer also does solo work with his own PA around the clubs and has a very good understanding of PA desks. Ceratinly enough to get by. We use a sound engineer when taking large desk and full PA. Dave
  8. Thought i would have more interest on this beaut by now. Dave

If you go for the H/H kit and decide at a later date you need something bigger you can always use the H/H cabs as monitors. Dave

    Band PA

For a lot of bands its a bit of trial and error with a first PA and someone needs to take charge of it. Hopefully one person sets it up and keeps control otherwise too many fingers in the pot just create issues. If new to PA's then perhaps do a bit of youtube research to get started might help. I'm no expert with PA's and no formal training. I've just picked it up over a lot of years and running a PA hire company where mate did the actual desk control and i did the set up and any repairs. That was back in the day of big heavy cabs and power amps. I can find my way around a desk but haven't controlled a full band from FOH before. It takes a fair bit of skill to get it right. Dave

    Band PA

Our drummer owns the PA but he plays in 2 bands plus he had friends in the business to get him a great deal on it. He went for QSC but bought to cover all types of events that he might be playing. All have internal class D 1000W power amps. At very least 12" speakers and a good quality desk. Someone mentioned the Yamaha desk which i like and not horrendously expensive. We looked at Mackie and RCF PA cabs as well but QSC came out tops for what he wanted. If you go for 15 3 ways they will do for slightly bigger venues or when band decides to put bass drum thru PA for a bit more depth in band sound. My other band uses an Alto PA rig that weren't hugely expensive. Think its 15 tops with 15 subs. Think the desk is an Alto 12 channel too. Its ok but not the best quality of sound compared to the QSC in my main band but you get what you pay for i guess. Dave
  12. To be honest i had always passed her by because most of the songs i heard were a bit too folk or jazz sounding. Altho Big Yellow Taxi was a song i've liked since first hearing it so many years ago but had it in my mind it was a one off success. How could i be so wrong. She has a very varied style over the years but her voice has remained the outstanding feature in almost every song. I just prefer the 80's albums as they were a little bit more "modern" or "upbeat". The albums late 90's onwatds i need to have a listen too but from what i have heard she seemed to go a little bit more laid back in her songs but still good. Just not what i'd buy. I think i have the choice of around 4-5 albums within the era i like most. Dave
  13. I'm finding i prefer her 80's work. Bought Wild Things Run Fast and listening to earlier albums i find them a little too laid back or maybe its a more jazz influenced feel to them or folk sounding on the really early albums. I'm looking at Dog Eat Dog album next. It has a similar feel to Wild Things. Some of the other 80's albums i'm liking too. I'm listening to Night Ride Home at moment on youtube to get a feel for it before i'll buy but it sounds good too. Maybe its the production that's changed from 80's but def a different feel on the albums. Its on-going but i'm slowly getting more and more into her music. Dave
  14. Yep Darkness were another band that are hard to pigeon hole. Classic Rock sound and image but they also had a more modern feel to them.
  15. Leave Classic Rock as it is and the new stuff can think up its own name. 😂 Modern rock, kid-on rock 😂
  16. Never experienced anything like that and i had my pick up for 8 yrs and changed the mats a couple of times. Dave
  17. There are new bands out there that have styled themselves on classic rock sound. One that comes to mind for me is The Answer. They looked and sounded the part and i'm sure there are others out there. Not sure how i class bands like them.
  18. When i bought my 8mth old Volvo from Arnold Clark the drivers mat was missing and i didn't notice till i got home. I called them and they said the could order a set from Volvo but i would need to pay for them myself. I went thru one of those custom car mat companies and had to buy a full set just to get a drivers mat. Only problem with them is they are material and not rubber but i think i have a spare set from my Hilux kicking about. If not i'll buy a couple of Halfords rubber mats. Dave
  19. My traditional Powerhouse PH212 Mesa cab has exceptional HD castors on bottom and your description is exactly how i move my gear at moment but having gone down the lightweight road with new Mesa Subway cabs the weight isn't an issue as such. The 210 cab is slightly larger in size and its more bulky than heavy. Its more about saving extra trips in and out of the venue when loading etc. I was able to lift my PH212 cab on my own and did regularly do my own lifting. I dont want to be fitting castors or wheels to bottom of cabs that have just cost me a lot of money but to be honest its solely down to laziness in walking in and out of venues. Ok if i can park directly at a venue and straight into stage area but some clubs you have to walk all the way thru corridors, bar and even lounge areas to get to the main venue area. Because of the bulk of carrying 2 lightweight cabs for any distance and thru varying types of doors it can be quite challenging. I used to do it with my Berg AE112 cabs and my MB rig altho they were pretty small 12" cabs. Dave
  20. The larger wheeled pneumatic tyre types are usually rigid and take up too much space in car. Its a bit of a trade off to get something that works for most occasions. My cabs are lightweight at 19Kg each so i can carry them up or down stairs if need be. If its a long trip on the flat then i can do the cabs and amp in one trip and bass, effects etc on a 2nd trip. For me it needs to be something that folds up small and takes little space as possible in car. The screwfix Wolfcraft HD one seems to fit my needs best i reckon. Dave
  21. I think we all have a spare car mat in our garages. Its only the drivers one that wears out. Dave
  22. Not heard that one recently. Usually when i hear a song i recognise i pay attention to an advert. I'm shallow. 😂 Dave
