I'd agree that all 3 are phenomenal and something that is often missed when discussing them is that they each trigger different effects and sequences themselves. According to interviews i've seen over the years they dont use automatic sequencers or effects and its the band who triggers them in some way. That's just another task they are completing along with the rest of what they do. I have no idea how they are triggering these things. Dave

I think that's where you've let yourself down. Dabbling can seriously affect your health and attractiveness to the opposite sex. Stop dabbling with drums and you should see you attractiveness improve even with age its a step up from being a drummer 😂 Dave

Checked pricing in Bass Direct and pretty much like for like pricing so its really down to personal choice i would have thought. Having tried around 4-5 Sandbergs and only one Maruszcyk and they felt and sounded pretty similar. For me the Berg neck feels better but with regards build quality i'd say pretty close and i'd have no issue buying from either manufacturer. Dave

I was opening the OP might have come back with some more info on bass and what exactly is happening. Appreciate he/she is a newbie. Dave

Absolutely no apology necessary. I think you are right that it is a VVT by the way he has described it. I've no experience of a passive PJ. Dave

Now that's funny 😂 I seriously didn't know what IHNA meant. I've now got to point where i cant even be bothered googling them any more. Life is too short 😀 Dave

Pan control is definitely an improvement but i find with active basses the minute you move from dead centre it has quite a dramatic tone change probably the reverse of what the OP has mentioned. I tend to keep my basses on equal settings. My Jazz i usually have both volumes full on. With my Thumb, Fender PJ and Sandberg VM4 i tend to keep pan in centre position. If i move the Fender or Sandberg just slightly towards the rear pickups it does give a very "jazz focused" tone. (good for jazz type songs) and going the other way the bass becomes very much more P sounding. I dont find that much change between just off centre and full on P position to be honest. With my Warwick i think i need to check that out as the bridge pick up is a lot more quiet than the neck pick up since fitting the MEC pre-amp from warwick few yrs back. It didn't sound that way with the original EMG preamp that failed. The MEC was the only option i had at the time if i wanted to keep standard Warwick. Think there's a Gain adj on each pick up or maybe its just pick up height. If not it will be taken to an expert. Dave

That joke is just wasted on me.😂

Think i was buying it around 74. I specifically bought it for Queen Seven Seas of Rhye by Queen. Dave

Forgot about Kerrang. Great stuff. There used to be a small magazine that came out with song lyrics. Cant remember the name of it tho. ? Dave

Yep the anticipation of whether your purchase was a success or a flop. Had many a flop too right enough. I used to visit the import sections and see what i liked the look off and just go for it. That's how i came across Meatloaf and even Ultravox first albums too. Dave

I wish people would just spell the words like normal people. What's thepoint of schooling ? Dave

I read reviews of new album releases from relatively unknown bands 1976 in one of the music papers like Sounds or NME and there was Rush with 2112, The Police, Blondie were the ones that stuck out for me. It was down to either Rush or Police for me but something about the album cover stood out and i went for 2112. I have never been disappointed with that choice and they have entertained me ever since. When younger i had no issues being a bass player. Worked ok for me. Now i'm older i dont think it matters anymore. 😁 Dave

You've never married and divorced a cat yet. 😂

I have a cat for every bass.

There aren't many musicians out there playing bass, keys, guitar, bass pedals and singing tho. And some of that at same time. In my book that classes him as a musicial genius. Then again i've been a Rush fan since 76 when i bought 2112 so i'm biased. Dave

What do you mean cancel each other ? Do they shut off completely or just the tone changes ? Active or passive ? Some more info would help identify what the issue might be. Dave

Are the Maruszcyk basses in same price range. I always thought they were pretty expensive. Tried a Jazz one that a mate bought and i was very impressed by the feel of it. Dave

I care. I'm a nice person. 😀 Dave

Must admit i only used it once few yrs back and found it ok. I managed to get exactly what i was looking for in a bass but i accidently found the VM4 i have elsewhere and loved the look of it. Can't say i've tried any other manufacturers configurators ? Dave

EBS Reidmar 750 for sale. £395 ...... now £375........now final drop to £350. This was a back up amp for my Mesa Mpulse 600 when i bought the Mesa 2nd hand. Its never been needed as the Mesa has been solid since buying it. Bought this from our guitarist who was bass player in his previous band for 2 yrs. He bought it new and its not had a lot of use. I've only used it a couple of rehearsals to get a feel for it but never gigged. EBS produce reliable, solid bass gear tthis is one of their class D amps. Its one very powerful amp with a great variation of usable tones. 750W @ 4ohm. Would prefer Cash on Collection as i dont have the original box or packaging. Dave
