I'd like to sell most of my basses, but can't bring myself to do so

Curious as to which one you'd keep. Also curious what your current basses are mainly because it sounds like a nice varied collection. Any pics ? Dave -
I enjoyed that.

Not really but you never can tell with bass players ๐

Not sure i fancy a Dano Longhorn to be honest. Its mainly boxes and stuff lying on the floor that's the problem. I'm still able to swing the cat (proverbial of course) but i fall over stuff when i get carried away in the moment of practicing. Does anyone else get lost in the moment when practicing at home or am i just weird. ๐ Dave

I'll give you ยฃ225 for it ๐ -
That's what i need to do but my bass cave is a bit cramped at moment with some boxes being stored for few weeks at a time to stop cats damaging the boxes. Time for a clear up i reckon Dave. Dave

Should we allow you to stay on BC now ??? ๐ Any particular reason for selling everything Frank ? Seems a bit drastic. Dave -

I was an engineer for 40 yrs and i still have some of my original tools. Most engineers i know do get attached to certain tools like that particular flat blade or phillips that just fits the hand better, provides better grip and doesn't break at first use. I know car mechanics that only buy Snap-on tools cause they are rated the best with a lifetime guarantee but boy they are expensive. Not for amatuer mechanic tho and same could be said about basses. ๐ Everyone can come up with reasons for keeping a collection of whatever it is they like or use in their job as tools. I have some sentimental attachment to certain basses, not all, just some. Others i'd sell tomorrow but dont need to if i'm honest so its not doing any harm having them. I do like the idea of one or maybe 2 basses. My choice would be a P and J bass but i'd miss my Sandberg VM4. I also have a wee notion for a MM Sterling Stingray but no rush to buy one. Dave -

And i bet you were happy with that one bass. Dave -
That's an issue i had when returning to rehearsals that i had been sitting at home practicing the songs but at rehearsals i stand and my back ached altho we do a 6 hr rehearsal but normally its never an issue for me. I went back to gym 3 mths ago when they opened to build up my strength plus general overall fitness levels cause i've been so lazy in Covid. Dave

Altho my basses are either on wall hangers or on stands on the floor because i'm using them a lot i keep my cases tucked in behind bedroom door. The door is always open so they are out of sight. I can get 2 cases behind each door. Just a thought if space is critical for you. Dave -

If i've picked you up right. You love P bass so keep that one. You love the Limelight so keep that one However you have 5er Jazz for Dep work so makes sense to keep that. I'd sell the other Jazz bass. Having 3 basses that are workable isnt too bad IMO. Put them in cases and hide them under the bed if space is an issue. Dave -
The fact he wont let you get it set up makes me suspicious. He has the chance of a sale here and if not the set up will make the bass more sellable. I'd be very wary of this one. I've had 2 Warwicks with no neck issues but i've heard about truss rod issues on some but dont know the details behind it. Dave
-
They are exact same as our guitarist had when he played bass in an Ozzy tribute few yrs ago. Pretty sure he swapped the necks over so the blue had the maple. He offered them to me for silly money just to move them on but i didnt fancy them at the time. Think i had just splashed out on a Mesa rig and a bit skint. He was from Glasgow area. Dave

Came across this and thought it was very nice. Both the bass and the playing were exceptional.

It kinda died a death in 2020. So you start a new list and we'll take it from there again. Dave

Jimmy Haslip bassist from Yellowjackets i think was the same. Amazing soloist too but not sure how he manages to do his slap style. Dave

Think every family had a Seekers album or single in the house ๐ My mother generally had popular songs from the radio. She did have an old Platters album which i just loved the harmonies. She was also a bit of an Elvis fan but most women probably liked Elvis back in 50's Dave

Combining my Beatles outfit with my Country & Western outfits. Just a trend setter back in the day. Wonder what went wrong ๐
-
I inherited all my Mothers older singles including Frank Ifield and Freddie too. ๐
-
That'll be the one i had back in 63/64. I even had the EP All My Loving for my birthday and still have it. I dont have the wig or guitar tho. Dave
-
I used to be in a Beatles tribute too. Had the wig but the outfit and guitar needed some work. It was actually a Beatles guitar. ๐๐

Just watched that and altho not look-a-likes the band looks good on stage to me. Enjoyed that and if up my way i'll make an effort to come see you. Dave

Any band that does Magnum material well is good enough for me to go to a gig. Not a huge fan of their modern material but loved the older albums. Is there anyone in Magnum that is particularly noticeable ? I met them once when i was helping them load into our local gig and all pretty normal looking. A bit aloof to be honest except for Mark Stanway on keys who was very chatty with us. It kinda put me off the band after that. That was early to mid 80's. I'd still go see a tribute to them. Dave
