  1. That's a bit of a disappointment in an expensive bass. Dave
  2. Have to say my Warwick Thumb NT is one of the best basses i've ever had so much that i've kept it since new in 89. Warwick were populat in late 80's as the new "IN" basses. Did try a streamer and i quite liked that too but that's what makes this such an interesting thread. It highlights how we differ in our taste of basses. Dave
  3. Do you mind me asking what it was you didn't like about the Ric bass @Muzz. I had one in 80's and just found the tone very limited. I do have a hanckering for another one but would obviously try before buying. Dave
  4. Our guitarist had 2 of them when he played bass in another band and he was telling me about them too.. Nice looking basses too. Dave
  5. You can but it doesn't quite have the same bite as a fretted. I am a Jack Bruce fan. There are some bass players that have done a great job using fretless in rock but for me its easier using a fretted to play rock. Dave
  6. I saw the ACG's at Alan's bass bash in Moffat when i was there a few times but his basses were always busy and just never got to trying one. I only came across him when i bought my Overwater 6er and someone mentioned ACG to me. Having never heard of ACG at that time i went with Overwater. I wasn't aware WAL made different necks but i'm no expert in WAL basses. Mine was the WAL Custom series.
  7. I go thru periods like that too. In 80's i had a fretless P then a WAL altho the WAL had a slector switch that gave you a click type sound similar to playing a fretted bass. I think it boosted a specific high frequency. I liked that. My Overwater has same. Also had a Jaydee fretless and Yamaha fretless but like you i get bored and lack inspiration mainly because its not the style of music i play in bands where a 4 string fretted just works better ........ for me anyways. Dave
  8. Some interesting ones there @Bigwan I bought my Warwick Thumb NT in 89 from Sound Control Glasgow. Tried the Thumb and the Streamer but preferred the Thumb probably because i was a Jack Bruce fan. The ACG's look amazing. Not actually tried one. I like the look and sound of MM but tried one when they appeared in shops years ago and the neck felt too wide for me. Your WAL experience did surprise me as i found mine very comfortable to play but had a dead note on G string which on hindsight might have been something simple but being young and naive and having no help from WAL i traded it for something else possibly my Jazz. Its amazing how we experience basses in different ways. Dave
  9. Nothing puts me off my food i was just kidding.😂 Dave
  10. And why not. Dave
  11. Not sure what hapened there but i posted that reply twice. 😁
  12. And here's me thinking you were a strictly 15 man. Have to say the 210 has quite a surprising low end. Far deeper than any other 210 cab I've ever tried. For me it covers the frequencies the 115 cab lacks very slightly with some of the midi. Dave
  13. I'm really looking forward to getting mine and the more reviews of the TT the better. 😀
  14. Have to say that's painted an image i wasn't expecting while eating my late dinner 😂 Dave
  15. Dont use my mobile to access much on line ie Youtube but none on my laptop
  16. Yes i do Ublock Origin i think its called.
  17. I had no idea there were ads. I honestly dont get any at all. Dave
  18. That's really quite interesting and curious now how you found that out. 😂
  19. I do have a channel. Not a lot on it tho.
  20. I dont get adverts on youtube when i watch things ?
  21. I did hear a Rammstein album once and was quite impressed. Dont laugh but it was a management training course i was on and the guy that was running it had asked his daughter to put some songs on his MP3. That's what she put on and the guy played it at the breaks for coffee or lunch which was all brought in for us. Think that might be the heaviest i've enjoyed. Dave
  22. I've gone the other direction. My 2nd band is a more blues based rock band covering Tony Joe White, JJ Cale, John Mayall, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Commitments (not Mustang Sally tho 😀) with a few rock songs thrown in but its a style i had never really done before. Its not that laid back slow guitar solo style blues stuff which i have tried many years ago and didn't like it. What it did was highlight an interest in some of those bands and more away from heavy rock. I just cant get into that really heavy metal stuff like Metallica and heavier. I've tried listening and it just does nothing for me at all. Same with Dream Theater. Great individual musicians but put em all together and nowt for me i'm afraid. I am more of a prog fan than anything else and would like nothing better than doing Prog covers but can't get the staff these days. 😁 Dave
  23. Iron Maiden is probably my limit and only on rare occasions altho when i hear a song being played somewhere i enjoy it. On occasion i have listened to Metallica but would never buy anything by them. I was brought up mainly on Prog / Jazz rock / classic rock like Rush, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Kiss kinda thing. Dave
  24. Is that not usually a bridge saddle or the nut gap not wide enough. I'm no expert but kinda curious. Dave
  25. Agree ....... my fav bass and the one i would like to use for every band is my CIJ Jazz Geddy Lee Signature bass. Got it in at sale price £625 about 15 yrs ago and its simply an amazing bass. Far better than the Fenders i had in 70's / 80's. Unfortunately a aJazz doesn't work in some bands. I've had the fancy dream basses over the years and altho they are nice to look at and in most cases great to play they aren't the basses that stand out the most for me. My next bass will probably be a Vintera P bass mainly because i've compared them with other Fender P basses and just found it the most comfortable to play..........for me. At circa £700 - £800 new not a boutique bass in anyone's mind.
