  1. Even just a list of them without pics if none available. Some of my pics were scanned photos or modern phones just take a snapshot of the photo.
  2. Show us your Alembic pics and share your thoughts on your bass. Are they all good. Dave
  3. You've had some amazing basses. Have you listed them on the "How many basses" thread. Just curios. Always fancied an Alembic but cost puts me off. I do however have a notion for another Aria Pro SB1000 either an original one or the re-issues are meant to be just as good. Dave
  4. Its approx 35yrs since i had my WAL but i do remember how i loved that tone and that the bass was really well made compared to any other i had tried. Apart from the possible dead spot 😂 Dave
  5. Having had both i'd agree they are quite different in feel and tones available. For me its all about that WAL tone and that's the main reason i'd buy another one. I do like that classic WAL tone. Goes without saying they are generally exceptionally well built basses. Dave
  6. 2nd hand they are a lot of bass for the money especially with the types of wood used. Bubinga and Wenge. As you say the early ones are by far superior basses IMHO. The necks are sublime. Not sure i'd buy a new one these days. Anyway best not hijack the WAL thread. Dave
  7. Brilliant Neil. I didn't want to copy them over myself as they aren't mine. Dave
  8. Ooohhhh that's very nice indeed. Not listened to a lot of Joni. Worth checking out on Amazon i reckon. thanks Dave
  9. My Warwick Thumb was approx £1200 in 89 when i bought it from Sound Control Glasgow. Bass Centre had a sale on at £980 and i challenged them that i could just get it from Bass Centre so they gave me it for £980. Its the longest i've ever had a bass and after playing it yesterday for a while i don't ever see me selling it. Its simply glorious to play with its very slim neck and low action with that classic Warwick growl. Dave
  10. Mine was £740 in early 80's. A Flame Sycamore lined fretless. I traded it because it had a dead spot on the G string. When i contacted WAL they didn't really want to know and weren't helpful. That put me off them but that was the old days and i had a lack of knowledge of what can cause a dead spot. Maybe something daft like a saddle or string issue altho i did try different types of strings at the time. I tried living with it but it just annoyed me no end. Loved the feel and tone tho. Really gorgeous looking bass as well.
  11. Neil's also just posted Ready and Willing on his FB page along with quite a few others. Hopefully he'll share that on BC too. Dave
  12. If the WAL is something you've given a lot of serious thought to and what you want and dreamed of for a long time then just go for it. All assuming you can afford it of course. You're only alive once so make the best of what you can. Dave
  13. Had a flame sycamore lined fretless one in 80's. Lovely basses cost me £740 new. I've had other basses before and after that felt as nice to play but no other bass i've come cross can get that WAL sound. I've heard WAL basses doing all sorts of different styles and tones. I've heard some basses that come close to a WAL sound but they were just as expensive. Don't think i would buy another new WAL but i would certainly like to own a 2nd hand fretted Mk1. Dave
  14. I def like that. Its been done very well with the relic'ing
  15. @Cuzzie like that white P bass with maple looking neck. Little bit on the relic side but i would be happy with that. Dave
  16. I thought so too but apparently the languages are different in many ways. From what i found In Scots Gaelic its tapadh leibh.
  17. Should have answered that in Gaelic but couldn't find an English to Scots Gaelic translator other than one that changed it to Thank Ye. That's more Scottish English slang. 😂 Dave
  18. So the cookbook is in English rather than German then ? Dave
  19. How many basses do you have ? Are you a shop 😂 What made you try the Ric pups in the Jazz. Not the usual way people go. I've seen Jazz or P pups in a Ric but never the other way round. Dave
  20. i got the best of Redbone album for Xmas and thoroughly enjoying playing along with it. Not specifically learning it note for note but just having a little fun with it. Dave
  21. Great song. Quite like Puddles version of it. Vid is quite good. Dave
  22. Cannae beat learning a wee bit of Jack Bruce live. Extrordinary bassist and one of my favs. Dave
  23. The original Smoke on the Water had some nice wee bass runs in it. Love playing that song live. If done right the bass and drums can really drive it along and create a lot of energy. Think Bilbo posted the bass music for Limelight if its any help. I did read a thing where Geddy said he didn't improvise and generally worked out his bass parts to the note but i'm not so sure. I've seen him play different parts in the same song. Sure some the Geddly officianado's will know better than me tho. Dave
