  1. Leave Classic Rock as it is and the new stuff can think up its own name. 😂 Modern rock, kid-on rock 😂
  2. Never experienced anything like that and i had my pick up for 8 yrs and changed the mats a couple of times. Dave
  3. There are new bands out there that have styled themselves on classic rock sound. One that comes to mind for me is The Answer. They looked and sounded the part and i'm sure there are others out there. Not sure how i class bands like them.
  4. If its after 1980 it's new. 😂
  5. Yep that makes a lot of sense.
  6. When i bought my 8mth old Volvo from Arnold Clark the drivers mat was missing and i didn't notice till i got home. I called them and they said the could order a set from Volvo but i would need to pay for them myself. I went thru one of those custom car mat companies and had to buy a full set just to get a drivers mat. Only problem with them is they are material and not rubber but i think i have a spare set from my Hilux kicking about. If not i'll buy a couple of Halfords rubber mats. Dave
  7. My traditional Powerhouse PH212 Mesa cab has exceptional HD castors on bottom and your description is exactly how i move my gear at moment but having gone down the lightweight road with new Mesa Subway cabs the weight isn't an issue as such. The 210 cab is slightly larger in size and its more bulky than heavy. Its more about saving extra trips in and out of the venue when loading etc. I was able to lift my PH212 cab on my own and did regularly do my own lifting. I dont want to be fitting castors or wheels to bottom of cabs that have just cost me a lot of money but to be honest its solely down to laziness in walking in and out of venues. Ok if i can park directly at a venue and straight into stage area but some clubs you have to walk all the way thru corridors, bar and even lounge areas to get to the main venue area. Because of the bulk of carrying 2 lightweight cabs for any distance and thru varying types of doors it can be quite challenging. I used to do it with my Berg AE112 cabs and my MB rig altho they were pretty small 12" cabs. Dave
  8. The larger wheeled pneumatic tyre types are usually rigid and take up too much space in car. Its a bit of a trade off to get something that works for most occasions. My cabs are lightweight at 19Kg each so i can carry them up or down stairs if need be. If its a long trip on the flat then i can do the cabs and amp in one trip and bass, effects etc on a 2nd trip. For me it needs to be something that folds up small and takes little space as possible in car. The screwfix Wolfcraft HD one seems to fit my needs best i reckon. Dave
  9. I think we all have a spare car mat in our garages. Its only the drivers one that wears out. Dave
  10. Not heard that one recently. Usually when i hear a song i recognise i pay attention to an advert. I'm shallow. 😂 Dave
  11. Yes i would do that with any version i bought. I might glue rubber strip on any points that contact my cabs. Maybe even a rubber car mat cut to size and glued on bottom. Dave
  12. It was definitely the older version of Hush by Deep Purple. I once played the Kula Shaker version in a band. Dave
  13. That makes sense. I've played the Stereophonics song Dakota in a couple of bands and to be fair its a great crowd pleaser and pretty good fun to play. If a varied age group audience in a venue like a song then maybe that's a classic rock song. But does that make the band a classic rock band ? I couldn't name any other Stereophonics songs but i'm sure younger people might not be able to name many Deep Purple, Zep or Floyd songs. Dave
  14. Heard Deep Purple Hush on an advert few yrs ago and Highway Star in a Documentary as a background track but yes i see your point but lets see in 50 yrs what's getting played. (i'll be 110 by then so wont be able to hear the radio by then 😂) I still tend to think of Oasis and Blur as relatively new bands 😂 Altho i was never a fan of either Oasis and Blur i do recognise Wonderwall and Parklife as being famous songs. I still dont class the bands as classic rock bands but that's probably a generation age thing. Dave
  15. Think there was a big difference between late 60's / 70's the songs or albums were all in the National charts. A lot of those bands back then were THE popular music and most people were listening to them. After 70's passed the charts changed and the general puplic started listening to other popular music incl punk, funk, disco etc. That meant rock or classic rock music became more like a cult following with many of the classic or rock bands sales were to fans of that particular band. You are now seeing songs by bands like Floyd, Zep, Lizzy from that 70's era being used on adverts today and that's because so many people recognise those songs as classics. If you ask yourself the question will you hear stereophonics or 90's bands songs being used in 40 / 50 yrs then i would think probably not. A lot of those bands will be lost in time as one hit wonders. Again its all subjective and just my own observations and opinions. I can bet the younger generation on here that were into bands in the 90's will disagree and think bands like Oasis, Blur, Stereophonics will have songs that will be remembered in 50 yrs and therefore they should be classed as Classic rock. All subjective. Dave
  16. Me too. Have to say one of the best buying experiences. Was treated exceptionally well and i would highly recommend them. Its the first place i look for a bass now. Dave
  17. That's the one from Screwfix at £63 and my preferred choice so far. Dave
  18. That's an odd choice unless you're a Quo fan or in a Quo tribute band. Some great songs to play live tho. Dave
  19. I had the lightweight Berg AE112 cabs and altho they were clear and the Deep Purple tribute band really liked them i found they lacked depth or low end. (commonly described as "heft") Circa 2011/12. It might have been down to the cabs being very hi-fi and every note was crystal clear and not coloured as much as other more traditional cabs. Was an issue with a lot of Neo cabs back then. No idea if Berg have changed. ? In comparison with the Mesa cabs its night and day for me. The Subway cabs have lots of depth exactly same sounding as my more tradiotional Powerhouse 212 cab. I also have a Berg HT322 with traditional drivers and it has depth but still retains its clarity. I also found that my Markbass Combo and ext cab were the same as the Bergs yet they slotted in really well in a full 5 piece band from an audience perspective but not on stage. I did try a new version of the MB cabs that were similar in dimensions to my Mesa cabs circa 20" cubed and they sounded a lot better than the MB combo i had. Hope that helps a bit but please remember that this kind of thing is all subjective and only my own experience. I'm sure others will disagree. Dave
  20. Simple Minds - Waterfront (Bass Cover) - Bing video might help a bit.
  21. Was starting to think i was on the wrong thread 😂
  22. I've got one of those in garage but it doesn't fold down very well and would take up too much space in car. I really like the screwfix type. Dave
  23. Was thinking this Wolfcraft Heavy Duty Aluminium Folding Trolley 100kg | Sack Trucks | Screwfix.com
  24. It is lightweight gear at 19Kg each cab but 20" cubed makes them bulky so a trolley would mean i can do it all in one trip. Dave
