  1. Think i'd be inclined to sell it back for no profit but i did ask myself why she wants it back if he had already decided to sell it anyway. Curious. Dave
  2. Sorry guys but had to share this one to cheer you all up on Xmas day. https://fb.watch/29TP2RWgO1/
  3. Love playing Jim Lea bassline to that song. Some really nice wee runs in it. Have fun and hopefully we'll see some pics or vids on here. All the best and i am not jealous in any way at all........honest i really am not jealous at all.........I SAID NOT AT ALL. Just kidding of course..............no i'm not. Dave🎅
  4. Must admit i don't find him that extreme. i think he was grossly over-played when he first came out and it put me off Simply Red back then but some songs i just like. Would never buy them tho. I like the Greg Lake song too. So many great Xmas songs that i have them on a playlist just ready for Xmas day including all the old classics like Dean Martin and Bing Crosby thru to Slade and Roy Wood but then again i just love Xmas. I know that's sad for someone my age who doesn't have kids but i guess i've just never grown up. 😂🎅 Dave
  5. Somethong a little more slow and soppy.
  6. Brilliant not heard it before but certainly made me laugh this morning. 😂
  7. Not a huge fan of his but i do like this Xmas song. Dave
  8. Here's hoping we can see some good come from this. Dave
  9. Met Tony Reeves at a demo of Burns Basses. It was around 1980 and they had just released the Burns Scorpion basses. He was absolutely amazing and really into talking bass things with people. I was already a Greenslade fan before meeting him so that made my day.
  10. played that on a fretless P bass back in 82. Great song to play. Would love to do more songs like that but can't get musicians interested enough. Have fun. Dave
  11. Just ordered from Amazon. Had it on my wish list and totally forgot it was there until now and after reading the reviews i'm really looking forward to it. Dave
  12. Love the look of that Dave. The Panther was the first Sandberg i ever looked at in Bass Direct oddly enough. Thought it would have gone long ago. GLWTS Dave
  13. That's the way to do it. Be patient and get it right at slow speed then work your way up. Excellent. Dave
  14. He does and its the only bass i've seen him with recently
  15. Apologies i just saw your budget circa £50 so that rules out my earlier suggestion of the Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro. Dave
  16. Went thru same last year when my old Sennheiser HD280's started to fall apart with age. Read lots of reviews and finally decided on Beyer Dynamic DT770 PRO. I found them to have a clearer or sharper bottom end without losing the depth of bass. It means i can hear the bass far more clearly than the old Senns which had a little bit more boom (i use that word very lightly as the Senns have been great headphones for many many years but it best describes what i'm talking about.) Overall sound quality is far superior to my old Senns. The DT770 PRO's are far lighter and more comfortable on my head. Headband is tighter but not uncomfortable. I use them mostly with my laptop but occasionally with Hifi separates. One other thing i found was a great bonus was the covering on the earpieces is far nicer on the ear if wearing for long periods. The Senns had "leather" type material whereas the BD's have a softer fabric material With a bit of searching you can get them at a decent price too (currently £109 on Idealo to £135 on Amazon) I went for the 80 ohm version. I bought them from Amazon as they have a better return if i don't like them or something not quite right with them. To be fair i can't fault them Dave
  17. Didn't like to bother him on FB but i thought i would give it a shot. Dave
  18. This was on another topic but i just couldn't find it. This was the bass i queried before. Any idea what it is or is it a hybrid bass put together at Neil's request. I know he had a P bass with a MM fitted between P pick up and bridge but this looks like 2 humbucker style pick ups with either an early P neck or a Tele neck.
  19. That's definitely a bit of an epic. Some amazingly nice bass lines in there. Used to really enjoy playing along with this kind of jazz fusion music in late 70's / early 80's. Thanks for sharing Rob. Dave
  20. For me i follow this procedure almost every time. 1. Listen to the song and get to know it first. 2. play along with the song to get a feel for the bass part. 3. i use anything i can find on line from full music sheet to bass tabs to basic song chords. 4. Break the song into sections ie Intro, verse, chorus, mid sections, and ending (end might change with your band as most endings fade) 5. Write out the bass part in whatever manner suits you. I'll write the song out in individual bars with every note and spacing as i think it should be. At this stage its just scribbled notes. You can write it out as very simple notes. whatever suits you best. 6. Learn the song from your notes while playing along with the song. 7. Once i've learned the song and can play it with ease i take my scribbled notes and write them out properly on an A4 paper trying to keep it to one page if possible. This allows me to tidy things up for rehearsals and i can read easily if required. (see a pic of my notes below) Doing it this way means i learn the song by playing along with it and i also remember what i've written out on the A4. It seems to work for me plus i always have the music written out and filed for any future bands. Dave
  21. For me Learning to Fly was interesting to hear only because of Guys fills thru the song live. He does seem to manage amazing little ad-lib fills when playing live. Dave
