  1. Don't think i would buy a gold bass tho. Even tho i'm in a 70's Glam band. Dave
  2. Had 5 and 6 stringers and just not for me. Sold them all except my Overwater Fretless custom 6er. I'm much happier with 4's.
  3. I was rehearsing today so missed the final days bidding but at £570 i'd be looking for one that works so not sure i would have gone that high. Maybe next time. I'm still hooked on Sandberg basses at moment. I now have a notion for a Sandberg TT4 or Marlowe DK as recommended by my good friend and Sandberg Spiritual guide @Cuzzie Dave
  4. I didn't see any banners when i watched it. Can't say i've noticed any on VIDS i watch. Dave
  5. The original clip had about 5-10 mins of talking about nothing really so started the attached clip just before the playing. Didn't want you guys getting bored. Dave
  6. Not that i want a jazz to sound like a P bass but i like the depth of a P but the clarity of a J. I;ve tried the PJ configuration but it just doesn't do it for me. If my Fender J had a bit more depth it would be my perfect bass. I don't like changing things on a bass unless i need to. I'd rather buy a bass that fits my needs at that time. Currently the VM4 does what i want. Thinner neck would have helped a bit more tho. Dave
  7. That's good to know as its the depth that put me off the TT4 for the VM4. I just love a Jazz bass tho and its probably my fav bass to play. From what i've read the TT4 necks are a bit thinner than the VM4 so that would probably suit me more too. That is one very nice bass tho. Liking that a lot. Dave
  8. Think i need to try a TT4. That is gorgeous. I always thought it might just sound like my Fender Jazz with an added active circuit included. Does it provide the depth of a P pick up as my Fender J doesn't and therefore doesn't suit some bands i play in. Dave
  9. Out of curiosity how are you getting on with your 6 stringer these days. ? Dave
  10. Sad, so so sad that its down to splitting grains. I give up. Time to drink 🍺🍷🥃 Dave
  11. Now that we're out of EU we'll probably go back to old money, real weights and measures and proper feet and inches. Nane o that new fangled metric nonsense. Can't wait to go back in time and live in the 3rd world again. Dave
  12. I'd only buy a sparkly bass if i tried it first otherwise i might have gone for that Warwick Star bass for a laugh. Who knows where the band will end up with Covid taking its toll. We have a rehearsal on Sun to be fair but the longer this goes on the less enthusiasm i seem to have to keep practicing the songs. I guess there are a few of us thinking along similar lines. Dave
  13. What's that in real weight 4.25Kg is approx 9.25ibs so not horrendous by any means. Appreciate that's a guesstimate. Price is starting to go up on it and still 2 days to go. There's another one for sale but its offers £950. Think that might be there a while but its in good condition. Out of my reach at that with Xmas coming soon. Dave
  14. Of course but without the heavy relic. Maybe just slight relic'ing. Dave
  15. Nice looking bass but just can't take to that heavy relic thing. Dave.
  16. Another fantastic transformation. What an amazing build thread. That is one gorgeous bass. Some sound clips would have been good unless of course i missed them along the thread. I did flash thru the pics rather than read every post. Nice Dave
  17. Like that one Rob. Not too difficult just a nice pace. thanks again Dave
  18. Jeezo John that was an incredible journey. I don't usually follow these posts mainly because i'm not good at joinery or woodwork repairs but that was one of the most informative and interesting threads in many a year. Can't believe the difference between Pre & Post. Brilliant job. Also not a huge fan of the MM style basses but that is simply stunning. I now have to go back and read Micks build thread. Thanks for the PM and link to it. Very impressed. What we need now is some sound clips or Vids of the bass being played. Dave
  19. Are they quite heavy ? i never checked the weight. Rookie mistake from me and i should know better. Dave
  20. The force is not with me John. I shall have to stay with my Sandberg or my trusty old Geddy Jazz. Thanks again and was good meeting you today. Great when a transaction works for both parties involve. Just sorry we were 2.5 hrs apart but you're retired now and have plenty of free time. All the best Dave
  21. Pass on the Warwick star bass but i've been looking for a Kramer DMZ4000 or 4001 for a long time now. Paul Webb did use either the 4000 or 4001. Was one of the main reasons i was looking as i liked the tone he got with it but i don't want a fretless one. Dave
