  1. I'm now back to preferring my 4 stringers and just a lot happier with them than the 5 & 6 stringers. Kinda odd as i was always asked to bring the 5 or 6 stringers to studios. Engineer loved the Dingwall NG2 sound as he said it was almost like a piano sound. Dave
  2. To be honest i'm happy with mine the way it is from factory. Not measured it but i think its similar to my other basses which are typically 18mm on the Warwick and Overwaters and 19mm on the Fenders. It doesn't make much of a difference when playing altho i did have an ESP 6 string with 16mm spacing and i kept getting my positioning wrong but maybe that was more down to the fact it was my 1st 6 stringer. Dave
  3. Are the saddles adjustable for width ? Dave
  4. Thanks for making the effort but if its gonna be any trouble just leave it @scrumpymike. Didn't mean for you guys to go totally out of your way. I very much appreciate you are taking it on but please don't feel under any pressure from us. Dave
  5. This one for me but would prefer without the relic look. My 2nd choice would be the white/white/dots.
  6. I have the cheaper version of the Zoom and usually just leave it in the room somewhere to record the band or even my bass at home. Not sure how to di straight to it. Dave
  7. Phone recording might work OK. We record our rehearsals on singers phone. Need to keep an eye on your amp volume as if too loud it seems to overload the phone microphone but worth a try Steve. Is recording it at home at lower volumes an option for you guys using your phone ? Don't want to inconvenience you guys in any way ............ but if you're not busy today that would be good. 😂 I''m just kidding of course. If and when you get a chance is fine. 😂👍 Dave
  8. Some sound clips to let us hear what we're missing would be nice if you get the chance guys. Curious to hear the comparison between the two channels. Dave
  9. Its been a fascinating project and the idea of using the Aria SB1000 pick up was brilliant. Having owned an SB1000 in 80's it had so many great tones to play with. Dave
  10. Appreciate that and probably take a little while to get the ideal settings form all those presets. Dave
  11. I'm generally a fingerstyle player but when i use my index finger like a pick i tend to mute using the edge of my little finger and hand. That's more to stop other strings vibrating excessively. I would add that i do recognise a specific mute sound at the bridge end where its more of a dulled down sound. When playing like that i don't have a lot of right hand movement like some pick players so maybe its a different thing altogether. I tend to lock my little finger to either pick up lower edge or G string.
  12. So so very nice indeed. Hopefully we will get to hear some soundclips at some point. I've never heard an Aria SB1000 pick up in a non Aria bass. Dave
  13. Definitely a few months back but in past few months i started running thru our full set once a month or more if i'm up for it just to keep it fresh. I foolishly thought we might be gigging by now. I do have all my hand written music for every song plus live recordings from our rehearsals that make it easier. Dave
  14. Why thank you @casapete. I'll take anything i can as a compliment but no i don't recall seeing them. I didn't start bass until 76 i think it was and even the it was via mail order catalogue my mother had where i got the Columbas. I honestly can't remember if it was any good or not. Being my first bass i had nothing to compare against at the time. I did have it a few years tho so it must have been ok.
  15. Cant say i've seen one before. Every day a school day on BC. 😀 Dave
  16. Ha Ha Ha got it now but afraid not. It was actually inspired by this gentleman. Was a huge fan of them. Was also a huge fan of Rush since 76 2112 release.
  17. I've never even heard of them so a pic would be good for me @Reggaebass I do like pics. 😀 Dave
  18. Too early on Sun morning for me. I'm old so please be patient. I don't get it i'm afraid. 😀 Dave
  19. My first bass was a Columbas Jazz bass which i gave to my mate to defret when i bought a Shergold twin neck 4 & 8 back in late 70's. I removed the name and made a mess of painting my name on it. He kept it, removed my rename effort and did it properly using stencils which was very neat, refretted it and his daughter learned bass on it and altho he still has it and offered it back to me i refused as he put all the work into it plus his daughter was still using it altho she now has an Overwater. Here it is on the left of the pic.
  20. Missed them last time at Glasgow so hopefully one day. Dave
  21. I quite like Nad. Doesn't seem to bother me the way he does for many on here. ? He's not Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins but he brings his own image and style to the songs i find. Dave
  22. Met him late 70's too and agree he's a nice guy. Managed to get his autograph along with the rest of the band. Pretty sure i even got his wife's autograph altho she did think it funny that we even asked. Dave
  23. Duke tour was last time i saw Genesis. Saw them in Edinburgh then Glasgow where i met Phil Collins who bought our lunch. Happy days. He was such a nice guy and very down to earth. I have a huge respect for him. Dave
  24. I'd be of the same opinion Dave. If i get too big a scare or near miss i might end up calling it a day. I know my senses are slowing with age even in the car i notice it. Anyway best stop derailing the thread for bikes LOL Dave
  25. Congratulations is in order @Bilbo Dave
