  1. Vielen Dank
  2. So the cookbook is in English rather than German then ? Dave
  3. How many basses do you have ? Are you a shop 😂 What made you try the Ric pups in the Jazz. Not the usual way people go. I've seen Jazz or P pups in a Ric but never the other way round. Dave
  4. i got the best of Redbone album for Xmas and thoroughly enjoying playing along with it. Not specifically learning it note for note but just having a little fun with it. Dave
  5. Great song. Quite like Puddles version of it. Vid is quite good. Dave
  6. Cannae beat learning a wee bit of Jack Bruce live. Extrordinary bassist and one of my favs. Dave
  7. That's my plan too. 😂
  8. The original Smoke on the Water had some nice wee bass runs in it. Love playing that song live. If done right the bass and drums can really drive it along and create a lot of energy. Think Bilbo posted the bass music for Limelight if its any help. I did read a thing where Geddy said he didn't improvise and generally worked out his bass parts to the note but i'm not so sure. I've seen him play different parts in the same song. Sure some the Geddly officianado's will know better than me tho. Dave
  9. Came across this clip on Youtube and thought it was a very impressive tribute to Neil Peart.
  10. I used the projectors on the rear goalpost to give that pin spot look. Its a great effect having pins coming from a rear goalpost. Here's an old pic from 2012 of Deep Purple tribute. Dave
  11. Had a full DMX rig with pars, projectors, lazer and smoke machine all run from a Showtec desk with 48 channels. I had all these great ideas for lighting shows but eventually ended up with pars running on sound to light settings controlled from the desk and the desk mainly used to bring in various projectors and lazer etc. It becomes overly complicated unless you're doing a Floyd show its a bit overkill. You'll also need someone to run the desk. Lot of time required learning the DMX programming and setting up "scenes" if that's the way you want to go. If its simple rock music i'd stick with just the sound to light option and let the lights do their own thing. Our drummer supplies all our lighting and its the KAM units he has and they are on sound to light setting. Works for 70's Glam Rock as there weren't a great deal of effects used for those bands back in early 70's. He does have other mirrored beam effects that are run sound to light as well. I sold my full rig last summer. Desk, 13 pars, 4 projectors, lazer, scanner, goalpost stand and 2off normal stands with C clamps for all lights and effects. I kept the smoke machines tho. Dave
  12. I use Briwax on my Thumb bass. It was recommended by a well known luthier when bass was in for some work. He said beeswax leaves a sticky feel to the wood whereas Briwax doesn't. Briwax International Inc - Furniture Wax, Polish, & Restoration Products I also have the Dunlop cleaner but i prefer the briwax on unfinished wood. Dave
  13. Had a listen and very impressive. He does that funk thing quite a lot but its almost his trademark for me. Dave
  14. Yep i'd rate all 3 up there in top 10 of all time great rock bassists. I'd forgotten about Mars Cowling. Thanks for reminding me. Got a few Pat Travers albums. Dave
  15. I'm just happy getting the transcript. The Vid would just be the icing for me. Dave
  16. Just remember that its all advice and its always best to try before buying. Good luck with the search. Dave
  17. Many thanks Neil. Will have a wee run thru that later today to see how wrong i was all those years ago trying to copy you. 😀 Dave
  18. You've gone and bought that other "all in one" cab form another thread i reckon or then again maybe you haven't. 😂 The Barefaced cabs seem to be very popular with folks on BC. GLWTS Dave
  19. Makes sense Karl. Gigs will pick up in a couple of mths once most are vaccinated i reckon maybe Summer. Dave
  20. Its surprising how the different cab impedances confuse people. I'm probably lucky that i have an electrical and electronic background so understanding it was relatively easy for me. The chart does simplify it very well tho. I need to stop following you on BC Steve. I keep wanting to buy new Mesa gear 😂 Once the band starts gigging again i'm going to look at prices. Fancy that TT800 amp to give me 2 different EQ settings at flick of a switch plus that new Subway 215 cab looks the business and only 60 pounds in weight. That's approx a bag of sand from builders yard. That's a skoosh to lift. Do the TT800 amps come with a padded gig bag or just out of the box. ? Dave
  21. Your transcriptions have certainly helped me get thru Lockdown this year plus making me a better player as i polish up on the more difficult songs you've shared. Many thanks and all the very best for 2021. Dave
  22. WOW says it all. Looks the business there Steve. Have fun and keep us posted. Dave
  23. I guess the 2 single 15" are easier to transport too. Dave
  24. or maybe you do 😂
  25. You've given me great advice and help with the Mesa gear since i started with it and its all been spot on so i'm hoping for good things from you again. I noted you will be using 2off 15" cabs. Is that what you normally use now and how do they compare with your older Powerhouse rig. Dave
