  1. I love Bowie and try to see a.n.other Bowie tribute every year they come to Scotland. I'm still waiting on you guys coming up here too so come on extract the digit and make the effort............PLEASE. I had never heard Slip Away to be honest till it was mentioned here and really enjoyed it. I tend to get lost in Bowie once i start. His back catalogue is tremendous and so much to listen to. Anyway !!!!! what's wrong with The Laughing Gnome ? Its a brilliant comical wee song and also very popular with Bowie fans. There are probably several others i would love to hear a Bowie tribute play but i'd be here all day listing them. Have to say your existing set list covers most of what i'd be happy listening to. Have you tried doing what some tribute acts do successfully and cover a full album either in first set or 2nd set and vary the other set. Aladdin Sane would be my choice album of course. Or cover the Live Ziggy album would be interesting. As a 70's Glam Rock covers band we cover Jean Genie, Rebel Rebel, Ziggy Stardust and considering Hang on to Yourself Anyway i'm sure you have already considered or already done these things so i'll head off now and listen to some more Bowie. Dave
  2. When I Live My Dream Love You Till Tuesday Shapes of Things Here Comes the Night Width of a Circle Memory of a Free Festival....(Something a little more acoustic) Janine Wild Eyed Boy from FreeCloud Laughing Gnome The Prettiest Star R&R with Me 1984 Where Are We Now You got me into looking at Bowie songs again and wee bit lost in the moment so some of these might already be in the set list already. Probably some of my fav not so well played songs from Bowie. I'm more a fan of his earlier work up to and including Station to Station. After that it was only occasional songs i liked up to Blackstar. Dave
  3. You could make some space and let me look after your Staccato bass. I wouldn't charge for rent .........honest. Dave
  4. Wouldn't buy the album but i did find it quite an amusing little Vid. Certainly made me laugh a few times as well. Obviously talented. With the way the bassist lovingly stares over at the drummer i think there's more than just bass and drums going on there. Dave
  5. Bought one of these when i had a shoulder issue and it was superb. Now the shoulder is fine i just use it as a normal strap and its still the comfiest strap i've ever owned in 40+ years even with my heavier basses. Dave
  6. So are all Sandberg necks exact same or do the Jazz versions have thinner necks like Fenders ? Dave
  7. And you felt obliged to help him. I can understand that.
  8. Think that would be my first option too. Nothing to lose if you have the broken part. Shame this happens with the bass you've just bought. Dave
  9. Is that Sandberg answer ? Seems like quite a reasonable and practical solution rather than take it to a luthier who will charge a few quid to fit. Gives you the option of fitting yourself. Not sure there's much more they could offer unless you wanted to buy it direct from Sandberg. You could take to a Sandberg dealer who will fit a new one for you. Guitar Guitar might do in house repairs if there's one near you. I'd end up taking it to a reputable repair shop myself as i'm not really into repairs on anything that relates to necks. Dave
  10. I met him a couple of times at the Moffat Bass Bash few yrs back. Not sure if he's still doing them. Really nice guy and knows his stuff too. Dave
  11. Think Alan is based in Moffat so not too far away either. Not 100% sure but i think that's where Chris at Overwater gets his pick ups. Could be wrong tho. Dave
  12. I'll have a wee look on Youtube in morning. Bed time for me. Spent few hrs last night watching the lightning storms all around me. Best in 15 years. Wee bit tired tonight tho. I'm getting too old for late nights Dave
  13. I know his name. Gonna google. Nope not sure how i know that name. Nice wee song. Relaxing. I can see my wife's foot tapping as its being played Dave
  14. Had mine a year now and its my goto bass for everything. Great with Sandberg steel strings but superb with flats too. Fantastic necks. Best i've played in years. Quality for the money is 2nd to none. Dave
  15. Removed one of the pick ups and they are solid sealed units but they are marked with a 4 so must be 4 string versions i guess. From memory i was sure they used pick ups with a bar pole rather than separate poles like a Jazz pick up. I could be wrong tho. I've never actually played this bass thru my Mesa rig as i normally set up my EBS Reidmar 750 thru Berg HT322 cab in the house mainly because its never gigged and amp is my back up head. Thought i would give it a go and it turns out it has a lot more depth and low end than i thought. Its made me have 2nd thoughts now. Might take it to our next rehearsal and try it out at volume. Dave
  16. Just the bass part would be good. No need for the audio. Cheers Dave
  17. Originally i thought a simple swap out and i could do it myself but doesn't look that simple now. Dave
  18. I've given that some thought and might be another option. Its not something i would tackle myself. I've never actually changed anything on a bass. I like them as they are but this was a bargain, has a good neck and generally a nice lookng bass it would be a shame to sell it for buttons when a new set of passive pups would sort the bit that's bugging me. Because i have several other basses this one isn't a priority and more a side project. The fact the pick ups are not set mid point creates another issue for it.. Dave
  19. I've also just noticed that the pick ups don't sit directly in middle of all 4 strings as if they were made for 5 string basses and made to fit ? There is more of the pick up above the E string than that below the G string if that makes sense. Typically a soapbar is 3.5" (89mm) with EMG for a 4 stringer. I've just googled some pics of J4's and pick ups are even top and bottom. The bass was made from spares they had left over from the initial demo basses when approaching Tanglewood. Think maybe going to a Luthier like Chris McIntyre would be best way forward and get him to suggest options to make it a passive P sounding bass. I would replace both ick ups with a switch between them to fully isolate the bridge pick up when needed. Dave
  20. Had a look but it mentions they are for 6 string basses. I like EMG pick ups but will see if they do one for 4 strings. They don't seem to be a standard pick up size. Sure i searched a number of options and couldn't find anything suitable. I was wondering if its possible to use the Overwater cover over something like a P bass pick up if it will fit. Pick up covers are 97mm x 38 mm. I'll try Bass Direct again see what they have. My only other option is to go custom made or speak to a luthier about it. Its a great bass to play but just not a big fan of these pick-ups or pre-amp. Dave
  21. Can view them thru your link but not able to download. Created a Soundslice account but still can't. Are you able to download as a pdf or something we can all keep. ? Dave
  22. Cant open them @Dad3353. Not heard of a gp3 file ? Dave
