  1. Even Neil admits it was ad-lib on many occasions altho i think he tried to emulate the original as much as possible. Saw a live version on youtube with Neil playing it with his Kramer and the tone was to die for plus he was really on his game that day. Looked like an open air festival gig as it was daylight or early evening maybe. Never managed to find it again. Dave
  2. Hearing good things (excuse the pun) about those Flair Audio Calmers reducing the effects of tinnitus. At £20 might be worth a punt @Dad3353. My tinnitus isn't bad enough to worry about at the moment. Dave
  3. Has to be the best rock bass line ever written. So good to play and that tone is to die for in rock music. Dave
  4. I remember hearing that but can't get it
  5. Had a band zoom meet Fri evening and we've agreed to cancel our Oct Gig. The venue hasn't announced its opening and its a regular venue for a few of the band and they know the owner really well. Main reason for cancelling is that being a 70's Glam Rock covers band our main audience are not teenager early 20's age group and fall into the more cautious age group and we don't feel confident enough that they will want to attend a gig 2 weeks after the rules change allowing limited audience gigs with social distancing. The venue is a proper rock venue with mostly standing room so table service isn't really an option. We are now thinking of holding off until 2021 before looking for gigs unless something comes along at Xmas that can offer safety in all respects. We will still keep at our rehearsals as we enjoy them plus we have a new member to the band who will need to settle in. Dave
  6. Think it was Smoke On the Water by Deep Purple but such a long time ago now its hard to pin point it. Dave
  7. Do you regard yourself as a Chartered Environmentalist, are you a qualified Chart Mentalist ? There's no reason why you can't be classed as having more than one career. I guess there's no right or wrong answer. I'm an engineer its what i trained for when i left school and altho i love playing bass i've always classed myself as a hobby / amatuer bassist. I've made a few quid at it but i would give up bass if it was affecting my job. I did give it up for about 15yrs because my job was affecting my playing commitments. I've never heard that question reversed like that to be honest but might be worth starting another thread on that question. Its certainly got me stumped for a decent answer. Dave
  8. Have fun, enjoy and post some pics for us Dave. Dave
  9. A wise move postponing to next year. Saw somewhere where a young couple had postponed there's till now, got married and the honeymoon was cancelled on them at last minute. Felt so sorry for them. If you're gonna get married you want the full package so you have a wonderful memory of the day. Dave
  10. If you had lost control and hit a police vehicle they would be all over you like a cheap suit. When my brother first started driving late 70's he had a Humber Sceptre and was following a police Sherpa van into the street where we lived. The van slammed on his brakes and my brother stopped behind him. He put the van in reverse and straight into my brother causing a fair bit of damage where the step went thru the front grill and burst radiator. Within minutes the street was swarming with police cars literally 6-8 different police cars. They then said at the scene that my brother ran into back of him but the young officer driving said it was his fault for not looking behind. If it wasn't for him they were gonna set up my brother for the blame. My point being if you hit a police car there always seems to plenty officers available for that. Dave
  11. I just couldn't do that job. He could have been a bit more diplomatic about it and maybe say he was surprised that it had been passed to them. I'm guessing both forces knew they wouldn't be doing anything about it and it was just a formality for insurance claim. Sad that we have reached that state of affairs. Dave
  12. That just angers me and leads thieves to simply take the P and carry on committing crime and no-one bothers or cares. Will that lead to people asking why have police at all. ? or even courts ? Dave
  13. I'd like to think our band would come and go with a regular venue maybe not for free but a reduced rate for this year anyways. Everything is so uncertain both band and venue are taking a risk so we should work together with our regular venues. Dave
  14. I have some sympathy for Police being understaffed and underfunded but when they are called to an incident or even a minor road accident they swamp the scene with police vehicles and most of them tend to be hanging around. I find that an over use of manning. I'm a big fan of our emergency services and i have and always have done had a huge respect for what they do but sometimes i do wonder about how they respond to incidents. Even on Traffic Police on TV they do tend to over-man some minor incidents. Not saying every time but quite a few. What makes it infuriating and the officers must feel the same is when they have numerous cars and officers chasing a suspect, catching them and they get off with it in court. That annoys the hell out of me. Dave
  15. Smaller venues (under 500) now opening in Scotland on 14th Sept. Good news for us as we have a gig booked on 3rd Aug. Happy days are returning. Dave
  16. I'll take a 2nd set @ped. Always better to have spares available on the night. Dave
  17. I did buy one of their albums to be fair and altho it was a bit cheesy they were actually a good band. It was just all the theatrics i found a bit overboard which surprises me cause i was an earl Kiss fan up until they went disco / pop. Kiss Destroyer era was my fav Kiss Dave
  18. Great news you finally have it returned to its rightful home. Finally a success story to cheer us all up a bit. Dave
  19. Had mine since 89 with original EMG pick ups. Had the eletronics replaced with Warwicks only replacement of MEC. No difference in sound from the bass and the pots are far nicer to use. This era bass has the nicest neck i've ever played. At this price its a steal. Like someone else said they don't come along too often these days and those early Warwicks are by far better than the later ones. Build quality is superb. GLWTS Dave
  20. I've been using my Fender PJ last week at home with nickel roundwounds and thought maybe i should go back to it but decided at last minute to take my trusty VM4 with flats to first rehearsal in proper studios and i'm so glad i did. It just feels so much like coming home after a break away. Dave
  21. I like those control knobs with the white marker. Its always nice to see at a quick glance where my settings are as i do change them occasionally thru the set. When its dark i'm trying to locate the centre notch and move it from there and on the odd time where i've forgotten where my settings are you can't easily see the black groove on the control knob. Dave
