  1. Of course but without the heavy relic. Maybe just slight relic'ing. Dave
  2. Nice looking bass but just can't take to that heavy relic thing. Dave.
  3. Another fantastic transformation. What an amazing build thread. That is one gorgeous bass. Some sound clips would have been good unless of course i missed them along the thread. I did flash thru the pics rather than read every post. Nice Dave
  4. Like that one Rob. Not too difficult just a nice pace. thanks again Dave
  5. Jeezo John that was an incredible journey. I don't usually follow these posts mainly because i'm not good at joinery or woodwork repairs but that was one of the most informative and interesting threads in many a year. Can't believe the difference between Pre & Post. Brilliant job. Also not a huge fan of the MM style basses but that is simply stunning. I now have to go back and read Micks build thread. Thanks for the PM and link to it. Very impressed. What we need now is some sound clips or Vids of the bass being played. Dave
  6. Are they quite heavy ? i never checked the weight. Rookie mistake from me and i should know better. Dave
  7. The force is not with me John. I shall have to stay with my Sandberg or my trusty old Geddy Jazz. Thanks again and was good meeting you today. Great when a transaction works for both parties involve. Just sorry we were 2.5 hrs apart but you're retired now and have plenty of free time. All the best Dave
  8. Pass on the Warwick star bass but i've been looking for a Kramer DMZ4000 or 4001 for a long time now. Paul Webb did use either the 4000 or 4001. Was one of the main reasons i was looking as i liked the tone he got with it but i don't want a fretless one. Dave
  9. Certainly not. Use it for some punch in 70's Glam band. But yes it will hang on the wall beside my other toys when not in use. Dave
  10. Thank you guys. I'm watching it now. Currently at £160 and i've just today sold my DMX lighting rig so could be good to go. Not much in these basses so an easy fix i reckon. Appreciate the heads upas i had given up on finding one that fitted my needs. Dave
  11. Just sold my full DMX lighting rig to John. Great transaction, no hassle and did exactly what he said he would do. Drove 2.5hrs each way to pick it up, in not very nice weather. Looked over the kit, instant bank transfer. Both John and Pete really nice guys and came with proper Covid gear (masks and gloves). Wish all transactions were this good. Highly recommend dealing with John anytime. Thanks again John & Pete Hope the drive home was enjoyable. Dave
  12. Think your post might have copied the wrong message for your comment @Steve Soar. They don't seem related. I might be wrong and just not follow your thinking ? Dave
  13. It doesn't make you a bad person Dave
  14. I didn't know that. I just make up my own little stories in my head. The voices tell me what to think Dave
  15. Yes standard Sandnerg pick ups in mine And i quite like them. Never heard the Black Labels but @Cuzzie swears by them and he's my font of all Sandberg knowledge and was a huge help to me when i first started looking at Sandbergs. He did also stress that its all down to personal taste. I play in a 70's Glam covers band so the VM4 covers everything from Alice Cooper thru Sweet, Mud, Slade and even Bay City Rollers and it's pretty versatile. Its also a comfortable bass to play for extended sets due to weight and neck feel. Some basses i get cramp if playing too long but not with the VM4. Bass and amp run almost flat with pick up selector mid point. Amp runs with bass just a touch boost mid a touch cut and treble a touch boost. (Mesa Mpulse 600 into Mesa 212 cab) Bass if anything during certain gigs i might give the bass a little extra nudge but not much. Turning to full P pick up it gives a good typical P sound IMO. Never compared against a Fender P bass. Think for me i would like to try a Maple fretboard version as i tend to prefer the tone from them. They have a little more zing than the rosewood type. Again that's just personal preference.. Hope that helps a bit. I'd suggest trying them in Guitar Guitar if you can. Dave
  16. Oddly enough that's how i listen to Yes lyrics. More as a melody than a storyline. When i was young i was able to imagine all sorts of weird and wonderful stories behind the lyrics but i guess that was Wonderous Stories Dave
  17. I never took to Tony's solo albums either. I couldn't really put my finger on why. Its been many years since listening to them but from memory i think i found the songs a bit samey. Might need to have another listen now that i'm a bit older and more mellow. Dave
  18. You'll get a VM4 but it won't have the Black Labels as standard. Can't say i've seen one fitted with them. Its the VM4 i have and its a fantastic bass to be honest. A good condition VM4 2nd hand will typically cost £1000 upwards. Mine was £1200. Not sure what you paid for your VS4 but additional £500 to get the bass exactly as you want it doesn't seem so bad. Of course you could sell the VS4 to help finance the VM4. Some hard decisions needed i think but good luck with what you decide on. Dave
  19. ME .........i'll take it. I'm the other fan. Dave
  20. Nice one @martthebass good to see you guys back on stage again. Is that first gig with Mustang basses ? Dave
