  1. Yep that's the door just opened. They will grow on you more and more. Dave
  2. Very nice Karl and at that price a super bargain. I can vouch for the quality of gear you pass on. If i was looking for a new bass i would be down for a cuppa now that you're a bit closer to me GLWTS should go soon now that Xmas is coming soon. XMAS SPECIAL maybe Dave
  3. Interesting. Curious to see what happens now that you've mentioned it Dave
  4. Have been listening to the Steve Hackett Genesis Revisited Album last few days and i'm quite enjoying it. Suppers Ready for me is a very good rendition of the original or my preferred version from Seconds Out. Worth a listen. Wasn't so keen on the 1st Revisited album. Looking at the Albert Hall live version where amazon short clips allow you to get an idea of how the album sounds Dave
  5. Great band and all really nice guys too I really enjoyed XXV Dave
  6. I get it now. Good explanation. I seem to do that without really thinking about it. Dave
  7. I remember those days very well. Several bands felt like i was in a Guitar and friends band. Dave
  8. Good description. I'm quite able to run thru songs without a drummer altho i do take some signals from him during guitar solos but i usually count the bars during them anyway. Dave
  9. Afraid i had to google them What do you think of the Mustang bass. Are they short scale basses Dave
  10. Whats the JJ and MW mean. ?
  11. On another side how about something a little bit "lighter" than Yes. This is Starcastle a band from the early 70's that obviously copied the Yes sound but had shorter songs and probably a bit more melodic and easier to listen to. That's just my own opinion of course.
  12. You don't need to like everything they've done (or anything for that matter) but at least you've opened your mind to the possibility of enjoying something "new" . If you find something you like and enjoy then you've won a watch, if not then nothing lost. Dave
  13. Looks like i missed a page of this thread. Caught up now i hope. Dave
  14. I must have missed that and i've been following this from the start too. Lets put it down to my age and poor memory. Dave
  15. Have i missed something ?
  16. Back in my younger days i had a better imagination and could get into albums far easier. Nowadays i just like a good tune. I think if i heard DSOTM today for the first time my attitude towards it may be different. Dave
  17. Why not try listening to the Yeggles album Drama and see what you think. Pretty sure we will all disagree on the success of that album but it might be a more mellow introduction to Yes if there is such a thing. I personally quite enjoyed the album. Here's a taster Dave
  18. If this had been closer i might have bought it just for the amp itself. It has a blendable tube pre-amp.........what more do you need. No idea why it didn't sell on the first day. Weird Dave
  19. Lets see the Mustangs. Don't recall any pics. We have a rehearsal booked 18th Oct 12-6pm but not sure if it will go ahead way things are going at moment. Dave
  20. Wish you all the best @martthebass Hopefully you can post some pics or vids for us Glammers. Dave
  21. Most people associate Neil with Whitesnake but i first heard / saw him with Colloseum II on TV mid to late 70's. It was a full live concert of the band. Gary Moore, Jon Hiseman and Don Airey on keys. Great band. Dave
  22. Not so much your loss. Just not to your taste. That's what makes us all different Dave
  23. I first heard Seconds Out by Genesis so i think that influenced my preference to PC Genesis. I heard Close to the Edge first but still prefer Going For the One. With regards Rush my first album was 2112. I enjoyed the implied story behind the songs back in the good old days. One of my fav Rush songs from the early years is By-Tor and the Snow Dog. Amazing sound for a 3 piece band and probably what impressed me most about them. By the time they got to Farewell to Kings they sounded far bigger with introduction of keys and electronic percussion coming along. Happy days . I had a fantastic imagination when i was younger and used to dream up stories behind every album or song. So my theory on what album you heard first might influence your preference to be a load of TOSH. Ah well !!! back to the psychology drawing board. Dave
  24. Oddly enough my preferred era for Genesis was when PC took over up to Duke album. Was never really a fan of Gabriel era back in the day but have since gone back and listened to that era more as i got older. With regards Yes i've never really been a huge fan just snippets in time. I occasionally suffer in Delirium while standing Close to the edge. Makes me very Fragile. Dave
