  1. Not something i would usually listen to but that was very nice and refreshing to hear such a clear bass tone with beautiful technique. Thank you Dave
  2. Nope. I have basses with sentimental value that i would never sell. If you're asking could i get by with just one bass then yes i could quite happily get along with just my Sandberg VM4. It does everything i need from a bass. Then again i do fancy a nice P bass Dave
  3. Got the Toy Matinee album thru last week from US. Took 3 weeks to deliver. Fantastic album. If you don't already have it you should give it a listen on Youtube. Dave
  4. The bass player is well known on Youtube for doing bass reviews many of them relating to Rush of course but he is a phenomenal player who does pull some really fun faces while playing.
  5. For someone self taught you're doing a fantastic job and much appreciated by us. Dave
  6. Been hoping you would do this one next from Cozy Powell album. Great to finally see the music for it. Will see if i've been doing it right all these years Thanks @Bilbo Dave
  7. I did as i had no idea who he was and never heard the name but he's not exactly done much other than PIL who i've never listened to. Was Johnny Rotten not with PIL. ? Altho i liked some punk songs i wasn't really a fan and didn't follow any of the bands. The Sex Pistols singles that i have were a hand me down from my older brother. Some rare ones in there too. Picture covers of Holidays in Sun and Anarchy in UK and couple of others. I was more into rock and prog when punk came out so it passed me by. Dave
  8. I used to be a bit of a shoe gazer but in most bands i was tucked up at the back near the drummer so not too noticeable. It was usually because i was concentrating on what i was doing. I had to work at not doing it. In my current band i'm out front with singer and guitarist and i had to really make an effort to look the part. Being 70's Glam covers most of the bass parts are not to difficult so its easier not having to concentrate so much and i can just enjoy the fun. Our singer is a bit of a comedian as part of the show with some of his stage show so that does make me laugh quite a bit. Dave
  9. Its a nice bass and i like playing it but i'm not a big fan of the pre-amp and pickups. Not sure which but i was looking at changing them to something a bit warmer. It has quite a modern tone. Dave
  10. Think that was me that sold the Orange cabs. I might sell my Fender Deluxe Precison (MIM) bass if that's any use to you. I also have an Overwater contemp J4 bass in blue that Overwater built for me from the demonstration parts they had before teaming up with Tanglewood. Its all genuine Overwater parts. No serial number as they only made one or two. That's the only 2 basses i don't use now.
  11. Looks like a road worn version of my Geddy Jazz
  12. Nice bass. What's the Limelight bass like. ? Looked at one last year but bought my Sandberg VM4 from them instead.
  13. We do that in ours Glam covers band and its great to play. Lots of energy. I love playing it, but then again i enjoy doing all the Sweet songs we cover. Dave
  14. Thank you. Someone else with taste in music.
  15. And then they would do this to completely throw you. Amazing harmonies from them all.
  16. Is that his name ? Nope sorry, never heard of him
  17. You gotta say Glenn Hughes was pretty cool with Deep Purple. Not just about being cool tho. The OP asked for bassists that were inspirational in the band. All of the my suggestions fit that description. Dave
  18. Sweet was a big part of my musical journey. One of the very first bands i was into in early 70's. I loved that whole Glam Rock thing hence the reason i'm now in my dream band (70's Glam Rock covers.) He could play some really great bass lines altho most of the Sweet songs are pretty straight forward but that's what made hit songs back then. It wasn't all about technical ability. He was an absolute showman and the comedian in the band. Our drummer lived near Steve when he was a kid. They always referred to Steve as the guy that plays in a band. As they got older Steve became famous and he even got a lift home from pub in his Rolls Royce one day. He has loads of great stories about Sweet in those early years. Steve never seemed to change. He always came across as a really nice guy. He played at Brian's daughters wedding when Brian wasn't doing too well.
