  1. I might end up going for a passive one at some point if i can find a good 2nd hand one at the right price. Dave
  2. Darn it i did misread the post and i'm laughing at myself for being a plonker. My apologies. Should have gone to specsavers Dave
  3. Removed cause i made an absolute plonker of myself by mis-reading the post.
  4. My Toy Matinee CD just arrived from US via Amazon so i'm about to have a listen to that while making dinner. Bought it after hearing Guy Pratt play it on his Lockdown Vids
  5. Had a first stab at this and that intro is murder on my left hand. I think he's playing it all low down on the neck and using all 4 fingers on his left hand. That needs a lot more practice. Beginning to think i should have picked a slightly easier one to start with The vocal part i can get after a little bit of effort but again the stamina required to maintain it is pretty impressive. Its an exercise for my left hand so a work in progress shall we say. Dave
  6. I quite fancy putting one of the pearl pick guards on my Geddy J bass like this one from Geddy's collection.
  7. Yep that's where i got my white VM4 and Mark was extremely helpful. Not sure how much a shop takes in commission if they do and whether that changes with each shop. ? Mine was already in his stock so wasn't a pre-order or special build. Dave
  8. I'm going to download all the Bruford ones and have a go. Over the Top album would be fantastic. Was hugely influenced by Jack Bruce and that particular album was what really got me into his style. Up to that point i was mainly into Rock & Prog bass like Deep Purple, Genesis and Floyd so nothing very complicated. Over the Top was a turning point for me in bass. From there i went into Camel (Richard Sinclair) and Brand X finally Bruford after a few others in between. Really look forward to Over the Top songs. Thanks again for all the effort and hard work @Bilbo Its very much appreciated by me. Dave
  9. Gonna give this a shot this week now that i've just received the CD and the music downloaded from @Bilbo Its more of an exercise for me to improve my technique. Not sure i'll manage to play it as fast or as well as Jeff Berlin tho. Can usually manage the speed but lack the stamina to keep up the quadruplets for any length of time. That's the exercise part for me.
  10. Because of the style of band and costumes i have to wear i do sweat a fair bit and will always have a bar towel on my amp to wipe the neck if it gets a bit sweaty or sticky. I'll probably wipe the back of neck after every 2-3 songs and sometimes give the strings a quick wipe too. I wipe my bass down after a gig. Mainly strings and neck with the body getting a quick wipe. I usually polish my bass before a gig altho we only gig every couple of months. I'll do a full clean and polish at every string change. Have flats on my main bass so string changes are none existent at moment but as its my main gigging bass it gets done before a gig. Oddly enough i cleaned amd Briwaxed my Warwick Thumb today as its not used much and not been done for a while. Thought i should after the recent hot spell. Reckon i do the un-gigged basses once a year with occasional wipes if i use at home. Dave
  11. Its a shame cause it is a cracker of a great quality BB3000 bass. Pretty sure it will sell no probs especially at that price. Dave
  12. Gorgeous bass but that serial number being burned off would be a worry for me. GLWTS Dave
  13. With Covid issue this might be relevant for Xmas.
  14. Not usually a Reggae fan but that was nice. Easy relaxing song. Dave
  15. They had quite a few drummers over the years. Dave
  16. Our drummer played with Glitter Band with twin drummers during 90's. He did say that his job was to play the bog standard drum stuff while the original drummer played the fancier fills and show off bits. If there was a drum solo it was mainly Pete Phipps that played them. I don't recall the drums sounding "bigger" when i used to see them on TOTP but i was very young. Dave
  17. Has anyone mentioned Floyd live. Is that one drummer and one musician (percussionist) Dave
  18. Neil Peart had 2-3 different kits live. Does he count as 2 drummers ?
  19. If one misses a beat the other covers it. Failing in unison is something they should aim for then no-one will even notice. Think i may have contradicted myself there. If they both have double bass drums they can play quadruplets on bass drums dead easy.
  20. Nah its to make sure all the drummer failings get covered over.
  21. Aye me too and staying in flats we never had any complaints from neighbours. Must have been good then
  22. That's very nice. Not seen one of them before. If it had been a UK sale i might have gone for that but i'd prefer to try it first. GLWTS Dave
  23. Watch it.......our drummer was one of those drummers in Glitter Band during 90's. Even had lessons from Mick Tucker (Sweet) when they were younger. Then there's Genesis with Phil Collins and Chester Thompson. Dave
  24. I did and moved to Scotland to get away from the noise.
