  1. Smaller venues (under 500) now opening in Scotland on 14th Sept. Good news for us as we have a gig booked on 3rd Aug. Happy days are returning. Dave
  2. I'll take a 2nd set @ped. Always better to have spares available on the night. Dave
  3. Then we have Steve Priest of course.
  4. I did buy one of their albums to be fair and altho it was a bit cheesy they were actually a good band. It was just all the theatrics i found a bit overboard which surprises me cause i was an earl Kiss fan up until they went disco / pop. Kiss Destroyer era was my fav Kiss Dave
  5. Great news you finally have it returned to its rightful home. Finally a success story to cheer us all up a bit. Dave
  6. And a wee bit of pouting and hairspray
  7. Had mine since 89 with original EMG pick ups. Had the eletronics replaced with Warwicks only replacement of MEC. No difference in sound from the bass and the pots are far nicer to use. This era bass has the nicest neck i've ever played. At this price its a steal. Like someone else said they don't come along too often these days and those early Warwicks are by far better than the later ones. Build quality is superb. GLWTS Dave
  8. I've been using my Fender PJ last week at home with nickel roundwounds and thought maybe i should go back to it but decided at last minute to take my trusty VM4 with flats to first rehearsal in proper studios and i'm so glad i did. It just feels so much like coming home after a break away. Dave
  9. I like those control knobs with the white marker. Its always nice to see at a quick glance where my settings are as i do change them occasionally thru the set. When its dark i'm trying to locate the centre notch and move it from there and on the odd time where i've forgotten where my settings are you can't easily see the black groove on the control knob. Dave
  10. That was quite common for us to pick the gear up the following morning when it was local gigs.
  11. Will do John. You should go along to one of the gigs they do. No bass player now but the 2 cello players are excellent and it all works really well as an acoustic set. Dave
  12. He did tell me about the early bassist and how the new guy came in after you. Alex the singer is unbelievable. I was never really a Zep fan but Jack asked me along to Motherwell Concert Hall on the guest list so i felt obliged. I was very impressed by them. Since seen him do the acoustic thing a few times now. Jack and Alex are both really nice guys. Jack was probably my best mate for about 5-6 yrs from 89 - 95 when i played in band with him and then PA hire for few yrs then we kinda went different paths ( i got married ) We have always kept in touch over the years and usually meet up at least once or twice a year usually at our band gigs. His big birthday party was a great wee night too. Dave
  13. Yes the very man himself currently playing with Led Zep tribute band who are as you would expect first class. Dave
  14. Currently relaxing to this guys album "Emotions" Evripides Evripidou on 6 string bass.
  15. Happy Days indeed
  16. Then there was the Yamaha BX-1 circa 1990. Dave
  17. Real leather too, none of that stretchy kid on leather look.
  18. Was a fashion thing ........honest.
  19. Sounds like you're sorted with the bass and vocals side of things so just be yourself, friendly, relaxed and open to suggestion and maybe offer friendly advice if asked or required without being pushy or controlling. I think you'll be fine as you've done all the prep work required. Most bands will be impressed at someone arriving totally prepared. Its always worked for me. Wish you all the very best and let us know how you get on. Cheers Dave
  20. That's an impressive amp for that silly price. If i wasn't so happy with my Mesa Mpulse 600 i reckon it would be worth driving down and picking this up. Unbelievable bargain. The various youtube reviews i listened to the amp sounded really warm but with a nice edge to it depending on EQ settings. Darn it i just hate GAS. GLWTS Dave
  21. It was nice but bloomin heavy as i was only 9.5 stone back then. Dave
  22. Here's a few more Aria Pro SB1000 circa 81 Fender Precision fretless circa 82 Fender Jazz circa 86
  23. The twin neck was up for sale on Gumtree based in London. I messaged the guy that i was the original owner and was interested and he never replied and the advert was dropped. I'm kinda guessing he nicked it from somewhere ? Wish i had kept that WAL tho. Would be worth a few quid now. Dave
  24. Never really bothered me back then. It just seemed the norm at that age. Dave
  25. Came across some pics of my old basses circa 78-84 i reckon. WAL custom fretless (flame sycamore) Shergold 4 & 8 twin neck (Shergolds first 8 string adapted from their 6 string bass)
