Its funny how some of us are connected outwith Bass playing. Dave
-
So you work for Local Council then
-
Not sure why it would put barriers up. Your past sounds pretty impressive and exciting and a huge respect from me. Dave
-
I was an Instrument Engineer before moving into Engineering Management. What company are you with. Curious to see if i know their kit. Dave
-
Oddly enough my hair didn't turn grey / white until i moved into management then it just seemed i was blonde one day and grey the next. Even old pics it seemed to be overnight. That's why i retired early as i could at 55. Dave
-
A seasoned traveller then. Out of curiosity what country were you born in.
-
Think that's what i had in my head with tape and finishing. That's how my house was done. Dave
-
Wow just noted you are in China Must be the furthest member on BC Dave

I've not really seen the jar and tip thing up here but if i did come across it i'd be assuming it was for the band. If i put money in it would only be because i enjoyed the band. I donate to enough charities thru direct debits and hand-outs at shopping centres etc. Think i would be a bit miffed if not even consulted. Dave

What is dry lining ? Is that same as plasterboard on a frame.

I've just started the thread but don't think that counts as a full time job. Its more a hobby.
-
I was just curious as to what everyone does as a full time job. I'm guessing most of us are playing bass as a hobby or part-time. Maybe i could do a vote on bass as full time or part time or other I'll start :- Retired now but was an Engineering Manager for Gas / Chemical company. Dave
-
Must admit i've never heard of that before. Every day a school day on BC. I can see another thread coming up "what's your day time or main job" Dave

Full new set list for a dep job in early May. Mates band kicked their bass player out due to drug / money related issues within the band. He was in his late 20's while rest of the band are "more mature". I used to play with this band 3 yrs ago but the set list has changed almost completely. Its interesting but nothing too difficult. Superstition by Stevie Wonder and one that really surprised me was Maggie May by Rod Stewart. Some nice bass in Maggie May. Only just finding the songs on-line to learn and locating any bass tabs or chord sheets i can find. Making a start on them this week. Here's the set list in no specific order as far as i know :- Big Change – Peter Green G Along For The Ride – John Mayall A Hard to Handle – Commitments G Sweet Home Chicago – Blues Brothers E Undercover Agent For the Blues – Tony Joe White G Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison G The Bluest Blues – Alvin Lee A Steamy Windows - Tony Joe White E Aint Going Down This Time – T.J. White B Somebody – Eagles D Tonights the Night – Rod Stewart C Tush - ZZ Top G Knockin on Heavens Door – Guns & Roses G Some Kinda Wonderful – The Inmates A I Shot the Sheriff – Eric Clapton G Laid – James C Feels Like Rain – Buddy Guy G Superstition – Stevie Wonder E Knock on Wood – Eddie Floyd D Midnight Hour – Commitments C Mustang Sally – Commitments C Human – Rag & Bone Man A Hey Joe – Hendrix C Purple Rain – Prince G Maggie May – Rod Stewart A Another Brick in the Wall – Pink Floyd D Smoke on the Water – Deep Purple G Sultans of Swing – Dire Straits D Where Did I go Wrong – Paul Carrack C Old Time R&R – Bob Seger A Don’t Dream its Over – Paul Carrack C Wonderful Tonight – Eric Clapton G

wonder why the wall has a metal backing ? that's a bit odd. A hidden vault for all your extra cash maybe. I had one of my original hangers straight onto plasterboard but was never that confident with it but if you use the right plugs it should be fine. Keep a check on it over next few weeks or months to make sure it stays secure on the wall. Same query about the airing cupboard. It should have a wooden fame for the plasterboard to attach to so putting the planks along it should have been ok Dave

Wee support gig in Glasgow last night with our good friends Status Quoing. Played for an hour, had the dance floor bouncing for 2nd half of our set and even asked for a few encores but time constraints we could only do the one. Lot of people recording the band throughout the gig with phones. Lots of pics being taken. Busy club venue and great atmosphere. Band played well. Not our own PA but sound was pretty good out front. Lack of stage monitors caused a few problems when we couldn't hear singer at times but all on all a nice wee gig. Thoroughly enjoyed. Quite enjoy support gigs. We turn up, play and go home early. No PA's to set up, no lighting to set up and its an early finish and home by 11pm even after a visit to McD's...........and we get paid too. Dave

A little bit of Yes will certainly push you to your limits. All the very best with the op. Sure you'll be back hammering those YES frets in no time. -
All the -ve comments about Bruford's autobiography has got me interested in reading it now to see what you are all talking about. Dave

After @Bilbo mentioned in another thread that he was transcribing a track from the Bruford One of a Kind album i thought i should maybe upgrade from my vinyl copy to a CD version. Arrived yesterday and i had forgotten what an amazing album it was. This was what got me into listening to Mr Berlin and following his many youtube clips. If only i could play like him Bill Briford - drums Jeff Berlin - bass Dave Stewart - keys Allan Houldsworth - guitar Did manage to see Jeff Berlin with John McLaughlan many years ago and he impressed me a lot live. Just thought i would share part of this happy wee moment in life. Probably not to everyone's taste.

I know. I was there. Do you want some pics.
