He disnae count. Drums and bass is all you truly need in a band.
Seriously i don't know because he is playing and can be seen in other clips obviously from same room and time.
Dave
He appears to have done things "properly" studying bass at a music college of some kind where he met the others i think. If you watch his right hand technique i find it quite fascinating where he plays the lower notes with his index finger while playing the higher notes with his middle and ring fingers all at same time. He usually does a lot of slap bass but this clip he doesn't do that which is why i enjoyed it so much. His slap bass clips are just same as every other slapper (excuse the pun)
Took me a wee while to get used to his Goth look as i don't associate goth with that level of talent but that's just because i don't follow Goth style musicians more than anything else. Thought i should clarify that before the PC police attack me for not judging a book by its cover.
I couldn't watch a lot of their music clips but i really enjoyed this one.
Do love the sound from his bass tho. Nice and clean thru his EBS rig.
Dave
I was rehearsing today so missed the final days bidding but at £570 i'd be looking for one that works so not sure i would have gone that high.
Maybe next time. I'm still hooked on Sandberg basses at moment. I now have a notion for a Sandberg TT4 or Marlowe DK as recommended by my good friend and Sandberg Spiritual guide @Cuzzie
Dave
The original clip had about 5-10 mins of talking about nothing really so started the attached clip just before the playing.
Didn't want you guys getting bored.
Dave
Not that i want a jazz to sound like a P bass but i like the depth of a P but the clarity of a J. I;ve tried the PJ configuration but it just doesn't do it for me. If my Fender J had a bit more depth it would be my perfect bass. I don't like changing things on a bass unless i need to. I'd rather buy a bass that fits my needs at that time. Currently the VM4 does what i want. Thinner neck would have helped a bit more tho.
Dave
That's good to know as its the depth that put me off the TT4 for the VM4. I just love a Jazz bass tho and its probably my fav bass to play. From what i've read the TT4 necks are a bit thinner than the VM4 so that would probably suit me more too.
That is one very nice bass tho. Liking that a lot.
Dave
Think i need to try a TT4. That is gorgeous. I always thought it might just sound like my Fender Jazz with an added active circuit included.
Does it provide the depth of a P pick up as my Fender J doesn't and therefore doesn't suit some bands i play in.
Dave
Now that we're out of EU we'll probably go back to old money, real weights and measures and proper feet and inches. Nane o that new fangled metric nonsense.
Can't wait to go back in time and live in the 3rd world again.
Dave
I'd only buy a sparkly bass if i tried it first otherwise i might have gone for that Warwick Star bass for a laugh.
Who knows where the band will end up with Covid taking its toll. We have a rehearsal on Sun to be fair but the longer this goes on the less enthusiasm i seem to have to keep practicing the songs.
I guess there are a few of us thinking along similar lines.
