  1. What other P basses have you had and how does the build quality and tone compare to them. thanks Dave
  2. Probably for the best. At least you gave it a shot and raised the issue with him. No point in getting worked up about it. Dave
  3. Tam Petty and the Heartfakers up here in Scotland too
  4. Can you take his bass lines and modify them to something that you like with your take on it but still retaining some of his basic idea. I get the feeling its not intentional on his part and he probably hasn't given it much thought. He's been focused on how the song sounds in his head. Worth talking to him see what he thinks. He might value your input and help in improving the songs. Dave
  5. If he's doing sax / vox / keys then maybe he sees himself as the songwriter and Band Leader. If its his song or idea he'll have something in his head for the bass line and that's where he's coming from ........maybe
  6. Couldn't see the original link from Bilbo so no idea what it was all about.
  7. I tried the PJB one when i was trying basses at Bass Direct and was very impressed by it. Curious to see how the thread goes as i'm thinking of buying one too.
  8. Try outdoor clothing shops like TISO you should be able to get replacement clips. Or try Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=heavy+duty+shoulder+straps+for+bags&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
  9. Does anyone have one of the Vintera P basses and how does it compare with other Fender P basses. Had a quick look when i was in Guitar Guitar Glasgow and the neck and fret height felt better on the Vintera than the more expensive versions. I didn't have time to play them. Birthday coming up soon and thinking of treating myself again. I'll try them out before buying of course. Dave
  10. I dream of just visiting the place Blue let alone playing there. Gig there would be Heaven on Earth for me Dave
  11. I usually check out GAK website as well if you are going down the on-line route. GAK will price match any other UK price. I've even driven down to Bass Direct from Glasgow area just to get a look around it. Its an amazing shop and sometimes a drive is what's required when spending good money on a bass. My first stop to try basses out is Guitar Guitar in Glasgow. If i like something i'll buy same bass from GAK. Dave
  12. My Sandberg VM4 is one of the lightest basses i've played with great versatility in tone too. They have an even lighter version out now. I know Overwater were doing hollow bodied basses too but they will make whatever you want from any woods and will advise on lighter woods and how they will affect the tone for you. Dave
  13. Here's the part you are looking for when i played in Friends of Deep Purple tribute band. The spacing i've written here is only a guide. E DBbE E DBbE E DBbE E GEF#D E DBbE E DBbE E DBbE DEbEG F#EF#E DBDB BbAAG GA GF#F Hope that helps. Taken from my own notes. I have the full song written out like that if needed i can scan the page and post for you. I do recall both myself and keys player working on it to get it right. Dave
  14. Serious question. Does it make a difference how the pick up sits in the hole. ? I've no idea. Dave
  15. If you're no wiring expert it might be worth posting some pics of under the control plate see if anyone spots the obvious ? Dave
  16. I like them but as mentioned they generally have a very neutral sound. Its good for many things but typically not rock music that i usually play. They will however make you a bass that will fit better with rock music with your choice of pick ups and pre-amp if that's what you want. I have a 6er fretless custom that i bought for my 50th before i started playing in bands again but i rarely use it these days. I would never dream of selling it as it has a pearl inlaid name on board and its just to nice to sell. I like occasionally playing around with it. Great for that Tony Levin Chapman stick tone tho I also have a contemporary J4 that was built at Overwaters workshop rather than at Tanglewood. Overwater name but no serial number. It was finished very well by Chris and Martin. Think it was made from the pre-production parts they used to demo for Tanglewood. Lovely bass to play but i just don't like the pick-ups or pre-amp or both. They don't have any warmth or growl but they don't talk to me in a way that my other basses do I'm thinking of changing pick ups and pre-amp at some point as its a nice bass to play otherwise. Overall i like their basses but i think a change of pre-amp or pick ups would certainly offer more for rock bassists giving a little more growl or warmth depending on what you want. Always fancied the original 4 stringers with that T-bird shape going on. Dave
  17. Glasgow SECC was always a hit or a miss for sound in my experience. I always try to sit near the sound desk at any major gig. If anywhere is gonna have the best overall sound its the sound desk. Dave
  18. No probs, "happy to help" Hope you get a quick sale. Dave
  19. What and where is FB Purity. Is it on the FB page or do i need to google and download it ?
  20. My Walls have cavities too. sorry couldn't resist. i'll get my jacket on way out Dave
  21. what adverts ? i've never even notice any. ?
  22. Would a membership pack every year be a way to go. No idea how or what you would include in that tho. Of course many use BC as a social experience and maybe never sell or buy anything on the marketplace so its a hard call on how best to fund the site. Dave
