  1. I'll definitely be giving it a try. Its those sort of muted notes that were throwing me when i first heard it but seeing it written out i reckon with some practice i could do that. It would be nice to show off when in bass shops You've done so many great songs from my past Rob. Really really appreciate all your work. Dave
  2. This is the one i've been waiting for Rob. I've always wondered how he played that song. This should help explain it. No chance of me being able to play it but its nice to see it written out and who knows maybe one day. Dave
  3. Retired so no effect for me. Bands are a hobby so any money was a nice bonus but have never relied on it. This is the first band i've been in that was making decent money so a bit disappointed i'm not seeing the benefit form the work we've put in getting it on the road. Male Singer was a driving instructor and got buttons from Universal Credit (£144 / month) He now works for a packaging company. Female singer was a nurse who retired during lockdown but has since been asked back on part time basis. Guitarist was paid off earlier this year and is now a carer. Drummer is a carer so not affected. Dave
  4. Let us know what you think. Dave
  5. Looking to put on my Sandberg. Does the tension feel much the same as elixirs. I've just ordered a set of the coated nickel ones. At £27 incl postage can't complain.
  6. I have Elixirs on my Thumb bass and always found them having a bit more tension for same gauge of strings. Is there any difference in tension between the normal MB strings and the coated ones. ? Dave
  7. Mate from my last band built his own Telecaster from genuine Fender parts supplied by his son who is Manager in a large Music shop. He did the paint job himself. Cadillac red with maple neck. Until i saw and heard it i was never a Tele fan either but his was simply a cracking job. He will never sell it. Even with the discounted parts it still cost a lot of money.to put together. Can't find any pics tho.
  8. If i had gone down the guitar route it would have been one of these. Gibson Les Paul Custom as used by Peter Frampton. Love the shape, the sound and combined with a Marshall stack there's nothing else quite like it for rock.
  9. All OBBM cables here too.👍
  10. Use a wireless straight into my Mesa Mpulse and Mesa 212 cab. Tuner is from the amp tuner out socket and has no effect on sound. I have noticed that bass sounds fuller with a cable rather than wireless but I like the freedom of wireless especially in 70's Glam covers band wearing platform boots.🤣
  11. Sound of absolute silence on a hill at Loch Ness on hols reading Gap Years by our very own Mr Holwill @Dave Vader
  12. Not usually a big fan of Reggae but some songs just jump out at me and this one does. See what you mean about bass timing. Think this is why i struggle to play Reggae. Its all about feel. I'd have to listen to a lot more Reggae to get a better feel for the style. Have to say you've posted quite a few songs i've liked and enjoyed @Reggaebass Its great for relaxing and background music. It kinda just flows. Dave
  13. Me too. Once listened to several times i'll start playing along with it to get a feel for the song then i'll write it all out starting with root notes and then filling in the gaps as i go. Dave
  14. Stay of the curried beans.
  15. HMWYRS i just started slow with the music sheet / tab and worked up to correct speed. There was a little bit in the verse where his timing is off beat that kept catching me out but i kept at it and i can do it but not good enough to play in a band but it was just for my own satisfaction really. I keep working at it tho. Every now and again i have a wee go at it. Had a lot over the years where little bits of a song evaded me and then all of a sudden it just worked and i got it. This one i just struggled with the rhythmic feel of the bass line. Its not a technically difficult bass line and its not overly fast. I just had a mental block with it. I don't use a pick but that's never stopped me with any other songs but at a rehearsal one day it just clicked and ever since it just comes naturally. The band was 2012 so was a while back but its always stuck in my mind. LIAR by Glenn Hughes.
  16. 2 very nice basses for the money. The passive VS4 is one i quite fancy trying altho i do tend to use my VM4 in active mode. Dave
  17. If i didn't have a holiday to pay for this week i would have been having one of those 2 basses you have up for sale. Both at fantastic prices and always great condition gear. Passive Sandy is so nice. GLWTS Karl Dave
  18. That's where i bought mine and Mark was brilliant. I would def buy from him again and probably will. Superb bass. Has a super glossy finish too. At the end of the day why do you need skirting boards anyway. Enjoy and have fun. Dave
  19. Ooohhh i really lie that. Dave
  20. New song to learn for next rehearsal Another classic.
  21. That would be good for my 70's Glam covers band @Cuzzie. Dave
  22. Had the SVT 4Pro and that was a beast. Lifted one of those SVT II 's in the studio couple yrs back and it was a bit of a beast. Very nice tone tho. Dave
  23. Quite enjoyed this. Found on one of my Youtube trips
  24. Sounds amazing. Out of curiosity what is the amp you're using and are you over-driving it. Very nice indeed. Dave
