You have a WD100 ? What's it like. They are still pretty rare beasts over here Dave
-
I could play prop forward for Scotland and it still won't help the doomed.

Oddly enough i can't get to grips with the AG500 in rehearsal studios. Can't fault it really but i'm always tweaking it. The studio also use EBS HD360 or 370 amps which i'm really enjoying. All thru Ampeg 810 cabs. I generally start with everything flat and adjust as required. I have the Reidmar 750 which is unbelievably loud for a class D and probably the only Class D i've liked. Its a back up amp for my Mesa. Dave
-
I had the MB 121 Combo with ext cab and it was loud enough for a 70's covers band. I def wouldn't say it wasn't loud enough but i always had the feeling that it lacked something. That something would be "heft" Dave

I had the old Mk4 Peavey head in 80's and wish i'd kept it. 2 channels with graphic EQ section. Loved the sound i was getting thru a custom 15" & 12" cab later thru a 15" cab and 210 on top. However the old GAS got the better of me. Like many others i've tried the lightweight gear and gone back to my Mesa Mpulse and PH212 cab. I love the tone. Dave

Was at the Barrowland gig for them. When Plant came on i went into Lounge area which was empty and had a great blether with Francis Dunnery who came over to us to see why we weren't in watching Plant. I was happy to say i was only there for It Bites. Francis is an absolute gem of a guy and very down to earth. Would love to book him for a house party but not sure my house could take 50 people.

Big Country supporting David Bowie on Glass Spider tour at Sunderland 87 Was never a big fan of them until i saw them. Amazing energetic band that stole the day for me. Huge surprise. Dave
-
Most Surprising is one i had forgotten when i did my original post Big Country supporting Bowie at Sunderland mid 87. Had never really listened to them much but they had so much energy and for me stole the show and i was a Bowie fan. Dave

Groundhogs were a great wee band. Oddly enough i played the Burns bar in 85/86 with Gypsies Kiss. Was my 1st gig with them after learning their set in 2 weeks. I was asked to stay with them and had a great few yrs with them Dave

Haven't seen you guys live so can't comment. Plus Joe the bassist from Ultimate Bowie did me a crackin Bowie painting.

Happy days long since gone. When ticket prices were £1 to £1.50 Glasgow Apollo was the place for us. Saw Thin Lizzy, UFO, Rush, Genesis, Steve Hacket, Peter Gabriel, Uriah Heep, The Firm, Yes, Camel, Steve Hillage, Whitesnake, Magnum, Alice Cooper, Nazareth, Ozzy, MSG, Dio, and many i've forgotten. Some gigs i only went to see the supports like It Bites supporting Robert Plant. Wasn't a big fan of Robert Plant at that time but It Bites were a brilliant band that unfortunately should have done better. Dave -

Yep mid to late 70's into early 80's was my fav era too. I remember going to see bands at Glasgow Apollo almost every weekend and many times mid week. I always thought John Sloman was the perfect Rock singer, voice, looks and proper stage presence of the classic rock singers. He had it all. I met him when he played with Uriah Heep and he was an absolute gent and so down to earth. One of my fav memories from that era to be honest. Dave -
@hiram.k.hackenbacker trying to keep it to concerts rather than local pub bands. Some of the tribute bands i've seen i would class as concerts too altho i didn't include them. Happy to include any concert size gigs tho Dave
-
Rare Earth - not heard of them since i got the feebie flexidisc thing with NME and they were on with another band that slips my mind at moment. Liked them
-
I've been to see tribute bands but not originals band. I was trying to keep it to originals bands otherwise we'd be looking at local pub bands on the list. Here's just a few of the tributes i've seen last few years MacFloyd - every year for past 5yrs (i know the bass player) Ultimate Bowie - every year for past 3-4yrs. Best tribute band i've ever seen Led Zep story - on / off past 10yrs cause i know them Talk of the Devil Ozzy tribute - cause i know them Status Quoing - cause we supported them and will be again in March Hellbent Forever - was there to see Talk of the Devil supporting them

Might have been done before but this was doing the rounds on my FB page so thought it would be fun to do it here. First concert - Thin Lizzy - Glasgow Apollo 1976 Last concert - Rush - Glasgow SECC 2013 Best concert - Pink Floyd The Wall Earls Court London 1980/1 Worst concert - Whitesnake Glasgow Apollo 80's Loudest concert - Nazareth Perth 2002. Seen the most - Rush Most surprising - YES with Trevor Horn Next concert - Not known.. Wish I would have seen - Genesis Seconds Out tour or Lone Star with John Sloman

I'm not a fan of downloady type things Dave. Stems from when i bought vinyl and you got a package that you read and feel in your hands. I eventually succumbed to CD which is now my preferred way of listening to music. Because of that 70's mentality i still like to have a book in my hands. I feel as tho i've actually bought something..........plus it fills a space on the bookshelf that was just lying empty waiting for the right book. That book will be yours. Dave -

Think Kenny Driscoll was the 1st singer on the 1st album then John Sloman took over for the 2nd and 3rd albums. That was probably the start of the band you were involved in Dave -

Mr Pink - My Level 42 tribute band. Promo video.
dmccombe7 replied to doc40hz's topic in General Discussion
Why not self promote the early gigs. Get yourselves out there as a great Level 42 tribute and the promoters will come knocking as they did with us. We haven't gone with any of them at the moment but one guy we are interested to get more detail. I don't know his details as our singer deals with all that and passes it on as and when we meet for rehearsals.
