Bass & strings Lightweight back up amp (currently EBS Reidmar 750) Leads 9V batteries for basses and pedals AAA batteries for my wireless system Spare fuses various sizes but def 13A. Various tools incl screwdrivers flat and phillips heads small and med sized heads, pliers, knife or Swiss Army style knife etc Headache pills (you just never know when a migraine might come on) Water Small hand towel for drying my hands and head and wiping neck and strings if its a hot sweaty gig. Not really any favoured choices and reckon i would decline them all these days but if forced to pick one then B With fuel covered its the same deal as A but you can benefit from a free rehearsal in front of an audience no matter how small they are it will focus the band to play better in front of people. Option C might be a close 2nd choice tho just to get some recognition on the circuit. Dave

Bass sounds nice, deep and fat sounding. Band sounds first class. Great version of a very difficult song for a vocalist. Dave

What versions and what pups did you change to. ? if you don't mind me asking Dave

Played a gig in Gravesend back in 80's. Part of an English tour we arranged ourselves. Summer night so some of the guys actually slept under the van. It was a large quite high axled van. I had a broken leg so was allowed the comfy makeshift sleeping area in the van. The venue allowed us to leave the gear in the venue till morning. Played a support gig recently where changing room literally was big enough for 2 people to use. Was actually a cloakroom for staff jackets etc. The main band gave us the use of it as we were a Glam Rock covers band with all the gear that goes with the image. Still some of us had to change in the emergency exit stairs but a great night. I thought my days of changing in stairwells and corridors was long gone but obviously not. Some venues have offered us as a 5 piece band one room accomodation for the night. No idea how many beds were in the room but we declined and decided we'll just drive home after the gig. Approx a 2hr drive. Dave

I've never heard of them but then again i've never changed anything on a bass in 40+ yrs. This will be a new beginning for me

I use my Mesa amp with a 8ohm cab so in effect only getting approx 300W max. I'm running it around mid-point on both Gain and Master with my active bass just back a touch from full on volume. That's in a Glam Rock band when using a vocal PA only. To be honest that's the same volume even when thru the PA as it matches drum volume. Not sure if that's an accurate way of calculating but its reasonably approx at 150W or thereabouts. With modern lightweight amps and cabs i prefer a minimum of 500W altho that alows a fair amount of spare volume if required. Dave

Altho i was playing a Jazz its a P bass i'd be looking at.

Gonna have a look at the P basses soon. Def a cheaper option than a Fender original.

Would have to agree that the Squier i tried was nowhere near inferior to my Fender Jazz. I would in fact say its far better than my Fender Precision deluxe PJ i bought few yrs back. The neck feel and fret edge finish is far better on the Squier. The general feel of the bass just feels better than my P deluxe. If both the squier and my geddy CIJ were put in front of me blindfolded i just couldn't tell the difference. Quite a shocker for me as i always regarded them as being slightly poorer quality than original fenders but definitely not the case. The Squier is the Classic Vibe Jazz at £330 in Guitar Guitar. How can you beat that. Even if you had to change the pick ups and put a badass bridge on it would still be far less than the Geddy bass new. Dave

Had a shot of a mates Squier Jazz bass last night. Couldn't believe just how good it was. Think it was a classic vibe version but the neck was almost identical to my Fender Geddy CIJ with the neck being the exact same slim J with black edging and painted black block markers. The feel of the neck and even the weight of the bass was pretty much the same. Think i might try out a few Squier P basses if they are all that good. Anyone else share my thoughts and feel they've arrived late at the party ? Dave

I have to give the guy credit in that the communication up to the withdrawal was 1st class and both parties had been very upfront and honest about the deal. He gave lts of info when i asked questions about the bass and i couldn't have asked for more in that respect. Where it fell down IMHO was in the way it was withdrawn and communicated to me which is sad and disappointing but its just life. Its not how i would do "business" but its clear from this thread that not everyone shares my principles in life. and that is the saddest part of this. Dave

Oddly enough I'm retired with lots of money however its not worth the bother. As pointed out earlier by someone its just a bass, there are plenty other basses out there. This was just a sale that didn't go thru and perhaps just put over to me in a slightly poor way. Dave
