  1. never seen that Jack Reacher guy. Maybe i should watch just in case i ever get infected and have to use a plectrum. Dave
  2. Think there are many that follow that way of life. Plectrumolgy is not my strong point either but i'm not bigoted in any way whatsoever. Dave
  3. Saw her steal the weekend at a biker gig in Perth. Absolute perefect showlady. Such a versatile musician. She really knows how to work a crowd. Dave
  4. I just loved the wood combination. That is one seriously gorgeous looking bass. Would love to try that out see how it compares with the standard Sandbergs you see in shops. Dave
  5. This just came up on my FB page. Absolutely gorgeous. Had to share with you all.
  6. Now that's stunning and exactly what i would go for if buying a Yamaha bass. Nice one. Dave
  7. The gig was a real sweater and my stage gear was absolutely soaking. I reckon I was wiping my hands and strings after every other song. Hottest gig i've evr played but then again i was wearing all the Glam Rock gear whereas i'm usuaully a t shirt and jeans bassist. Typically my D'addarios last about 2 months before i start to notice them failing Max 3mths. The Sandbergs are still sounding and playing ok. I normally feel the strings tightening up (tension) but that could just be my imagination and they start to lose their tone at same time. Want to try a new set of Sandbergs first to see how they last plus i really love the set up on the bass and don't want to have to make any changes to it. Dave
  8. Had the DR Sunbeam nickels on my Jazz bass and they were ok but not worth the extra over my D'addario nickels. This is the first bass in 10yrs i've had with steels on it and kinda like the feel but the zing disappeared after the first gig and maybe a week of playing in house which averages 1hr a day. Not sure how long they had been on the bass before i bought it tho and how many times it had been picked up and tried. Bass was new tho. Quite fancy sticking with the Sandbergs and at £19.99 plus £4.99 postage its not too bad if they last a while. Anyone else with info on how long their Sandberg strings last ?. Would be very helpful to know before buying couple of sets from DV247. Cuzzie - i might check our the DR Hi Beams tho. Just to see what DR say about them. They have audio samples of each string if i remember right. Dave
  9. cheers CameronJ Just saw that myself. £4.99 delivery a bit steep but would probably buy 2 or 3 sets anyway
  10. where the best place to get Sandberg strings. Need to change mine since buying the bass about 4-6wks ago. They still sound nice but don't want to leave it till they're done and flat sounding. Always like a spare set anyway just in case. I know Thomann are selling them but anywhere in UK.? Dave
  11. Did they give any reason why they short changed you Blue. Dave
  12. Seeing this quite a lot these days. Shame as you lose the feel of the band
  13. The Spirit of Bad Co & Free at Lanark Memorial Hall. Band were good. Individually all great musicians and very competent. Singer did a great Paul Rodgers too. I never got to see the original bands but what came across last night was that it was very subdued. Not sure what it was. Band sounded more like a club band doing covers if that makes sense. Not sure if it was down to a lack of energy in their individual playing or the fact they were pretty quiet. I was in 3rd row centre and i could even here the click from the guitarists pedals during songs. Good for my hearing but it just didn't come over like how i imagined the original bands. Still worth seeing if you're a Bad Co or Free fan. Majority of the band also do an Eagles tribute called Hotel California who also have a good reputation on the tribute scene. Dave
  14. I didn't list too many newer albums cause they haven't always been there. I just assumed it meant over the years since way back. I will now add IQ - Road of Bones
  15. Yep you have to admit that fellow BC'ers do offer their help whenever we need it. Makes you proud to be part of it. One big happy family.......well most of the time anyways. Dave
  16. And there's the start right there Ozzma. You're on yir way sir. Dave
  17. He's never used it in front of you but secretly and behind your back he'll be cursing you
  18. Is it possible you are spending too much of your time doing band stuff whether that be writing, recording, playing. Maybe you need a break from it. When i say a break i mean not spending every day on band stuff. Do you have any other hobbies ? Sometimes spending too much time on your hobby turns it into a chore more like work and not everyone enjoys their job. Dave
  19. Good decision. Drink never solves anything. You don't need it. Once things settle down have a small drink just to relax a little and chill out but only when you know you are in control of it and not the other way round. How sad is this but i look forward to my weekly visit to Costa coffee and sit at window and just watch the world go by for an hour.. Now that really is sad Take care. Dave
  20. Its not pathetic at all. There's nothing pathetic about depression and perhaps as mentioned earlier you should talk with your GP. I have no experience with depression at all so it would be unwise or unacceptable for me to offer any advice. I was trying to relate your age to where i was at that time. I wasn't involved in bands from age 35 to 50 but that was mainly down to work taking over my life. I can only hope things sort themselves out and you regain your enthusiasm and commitment to playing in bands again. All the very best Dave
  21. You gotta keep trying if you want a band to succeed. Never give up on a dream. Do what it takes even if its not great all the time focus on the good points. All songwriters go thru phases where they think their material isn't up to scratch. That's just how it is and once you realise that you are on the way to succeeding as a songwriter and within a band. I've been thru so many bands in past 9 yrs since getting back into playing in bands at age 50. Some were great bands but personality clashes with each other caused the band to fail, others just lacked drive and commitment but my current band i'm really enjoying. My point is that you just need to keep focused on what you want and keep the dream alive. Not sure what age you are so its a bit difficult to make comparisons as i certainly have had different views on bands thru my life from being like you around age 20yrs old where bass was my mainstay in life and its what kept me going thru to couldn't be bothered with bands or people up to present day again where its my main focus again (i'm now retired so that helps) My advice is to never give up the dream. We all need a dream. Dave
