Not heard that band in a long time. I remember meeting Dave Greenslade and Tony Reeves at a Burns demo in a local hotel back in late 70's. Some great basslines in Greenslade by Mr Reeves. Bought the album mainly for the basslines. Dave

Liking that

Good choice. I'd be happy with them 3 as well

Have a chat with Mark from Classic and Cool Guitars / Limelight Customs as i think they use Allparts for either bodies or necks and might be able to help you out. He knows his stuff and is very god to deal with. I bought my Sandberg from https://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/limelight-custom-gallery/ Dave

Buy a pack of various sized bungees instead of tie wraps. Quicker and easier to put up and more important take down. No cutters needed to remove them. They stretch and take up any slack in the backdrop.

Consider it done Dave I'll have a chat with my people to have a chat with your people and see if we can put a plan together. That PA could do with some 18" subs. Looks a bit on the weak side too me. Leave it with me Dave

I was a big fan of John Sloman from Lone Star days so having him and Trevor Bolder in one band it had to be god for me. Oddly enough Chris Slade's drums is the other thing that stood out for me that night. That i met the band before the gig of course. All really nice guys too John Sloman being exceptionally nice and easy to get along with. Trevor was actually quite shy and Mick was a gem too and happy to have a chat with fans. Dave

You need to start trading up Dave. Get yourselves a couple of these for touring with. plenty of space and only one driver and some of these to fill it That's you sorted for the gear and you'll need some of these to help shift it All good to go now Dave.

Thanks for sharing that with me. I was always a huge fan of Trevor from Bowie to Uriah Heep. Always thought his tone with the Kramers was excellent. Then again his Fender tone was excllent too but the Kramers had a bit more edge to them and they looked good. When i saw him on the Conquest tour in Glasgow he had the one pick up version as it was first time i had ever seen one in the flesh. I still have the programme from that tour and i think there's a pic of Trevor playing the bass That's a fantastic piece of history you have there. Nice one. thanks Dave

My exact thoughts Stewblack. 👍

Ours has eyelets and we usually hang using bungees to the nearest hook or whatever we can find. Failing available hooks we'll hang between 2 rear lighting stands. Ours is approx 3m x 0.5m. The writing is actually done in purple but venue lighting and camera have put a darker tint on it. Dave

When i was younger i could only afford one good bass Seriously tho i've always had more than one bass since my very early years playing but like you i only ever took one bass. When you're young you never imagine anything going wrong. That comes with age Dave

Yep i bought some of his albums after the split. I really liked it. Been a long time since playing them as they were tapes. From memory i thought it was more like how Supertramp would have been if they hadn't gone down the more commercial route of Breakfast In America but as i said its been a very long time. Might youtube that now LOL Edited :- just had a quick flash listen to In the Eye of the Storm and on hindsight i think its actually more like Breakfast In America style. Dave

Pretty sure Steve Hackett's bass player in 70's / 80's Richard Cadbury had a weird bass rig that i think was something Steve Hackett requested. Not sure all the details as was a long time ago but basically his bass went into a stereo flanger / phaser effect then split into a bass rig at each end of the stage giving the bass a very full sweeping sound. I remember seeing him live on the Spectral Mornings tour i think it was and the bass was amazing. Sure someone on here will know the exact details of this set up. Dave

Or he's just showing off his collection to help book sales.

Our guitarist will use an acoustic 12 string in a few songs but he's looking at trying it with his Les Paul using some kind of pedal to see how it sounds at rehearsals first. I'll take a 2nd bass but its purely as a back-up. Dave

The 3 Songs You Never Want To Hear Again - Ever
dmccombe7 replied to Chezz55's topic in General Discussion
Agadoo Rumours album Almost anything by boy or girl bands. Mostly because of what Casapete has mentioned above. All grossly over-played. Rumours album had some songs played almost every pub or club (disco) you went to. Dave -
Chris Squire used to swap between his Ric and other obscure looking basses on the tour i saw them. Nick Beggs changes between his Ric, Spector and his Chapman stick basses. Never really seen anyone change between P & J basses mid set. Dave

Geddy Lee in recent years although not so much in his earlier tours.

100% agree. I went the Markbass route and it was OK but not quite right so went back to big amps and cabs. Mesa rig is my best to date. Still to try the Mpulse thru my Berg HT322 at a decent volume. That's for my next rehearsal Many of my experiments in 80's were because Neil Murray was doing stereo outputs from basses and bi-amping his then Peavey amps. All made sense back in the day when i was younger and fitter. Dave

i used my Roland GTB mfx unit with left going to a Warwick head and running a more bass sounding EQ and the other right hand channel going to a GB Streamliner head running a more mid to high sounding EQ. At the time i had a Bergantino AE112 stack and a Berg HT322 cab (12, 2x10's + horn). I wasn't after more volume but it allowed me have a perfect Low end bass tone that i could bring in as much as i liked. It certainly gave my bass a lot of depth but i got fed up humphing all that gear around for gigs. Now i have a Mesa rig. Years ago in 80's i ran a Roland pre-amp in to 2off Matamp valve power amps into 2 seperate custom cabs. A 2x10 cab and a 1x15 cab. Sounded big and warm with my Jazz bass. Really depends on what you are trying to achieve with it. I never ran any effects. The Roland had a compressor built in. Edited to add that PA signal was always taken from the Streamliner head and FOH added their own amount of low end as required. At the end of the day it was only for my own personal on stage tone. Bit overkill i think but always fun experimenting with your gear. Dave
