Its the luck of the draw when you put something in an auction. All depends on who's there buying. Based on what's been said i would have expected the reserve to be higher. They have a lot of behind the scenes evaluators before people go on camera to sell or auction it. I once complained to the BBC but they simply fluffed a response to me with no facts or real evidence. For me BBC is simply an untrustworthy company that i do try and avoid as much as possible but sometimes there's nowt else on

My first bass is the Columbas Jazz on left in this picture. I sanded down the Columbas name and put my own on it but made an derrière of it so my mate redid it after this pic was taken and did a great job of it. He still has the bass. The Shergold 4 & 8 string was my 2nd bass. My first amp was a Sound City amp and cab but don't have any pics of it. -
Watch it occassionally when nothing else on and its pissin down outside but you always take a risk at any auction. They really should have taken it to a musical equipment auction if they wanted a better price. Dave

Bowie - best of albums. If i had to choose it would be either Ziggy Stardust or Alladin Sane Sweet - Any of their Greatest hits Eagles - Greatest Hits Genesis - Seconds Out or Then There Were Three Pink Floyd - DSOTM Bruford - One of a Kind Camel - Live Record Gregg Allman - I'm No Angel Gino Vannelli - Brother to Brother Peter Gabriel - Best of album that i can't remember the name ? I tend to play this when working in my garage so its on a lot. More recent album in last 10 yrs is Arjen Lucassen - Lost In the New Real Oddly enough i have all the Rush albums but not one that i constantly play. So many albums i tend to just pick one from my collection. Too many to choose from

Liking that little tip. Nice one.

That's a definite for me too. If you can keep your notes somewhere discreet rather than the obvious lyrics on a stand that singers do in some bands. Most of all enjoy yourself and have fun with it. Dave

+1 on this

When the museum was being built HOG members could buy a name plate for one of the walls if i remember right. Its like a Harley Mecca. You should visit once in your lifetime. Dave

I'm turning into an insomniac after band rehearsals!!
dmccombe7 replied to lou24d53's topic in General Discussion
That's what i was like at work. I changed to de-caf coffee and it made a huge difference. If like me you love your coffee and its not taken purely as a stimulant to keep you awake then the de-caf option might help. Dave -

I've had the same problem thru my working life where i just couldn't switch off. Mostly it was work related and much of the advice mentioned in previous posts is good if not excellent. With rehearsal at night its usually excitement that keeps me awake and i need to sit and relax either watching a comedy programme on TV or read a bit of a book or even a bike mag. One bit of advice i got was to remove those red led clocks or any lit clocks from the beroom. My alarm clock only lights up when the alarm comes on. That helped and i still believe that even tho i'm now retired. I still get the occassional night where i go to bed and get back up. I know this goes against all good advice but i'll have a milky coffee and go straight to bed again. 2 things will happen. You will either fall asleep quickly or if not sleeping after 10-15mins then the caffeine will kick in and you could end up being more awake. For me i usually fall asleep within 5mins. That's not for everyone tho. I came across this little clip on how to meditate that might help based on what cheddatom said above. I tried this and found it really works quite well and it can be done anywhere even when lying in bed. -
I like the look of that. Dave

I'm seeing a few of the Electra version going for silly money on FB Market Place. Dave

Its good to hear the vocals so clear especially with the Glam Rock material. Sound guys did you well altho the talent has to be there to start with so give yourselves the credit i'm dishing on you. Dave

Great biker gig. Saw the band VID clips on FB. Excellent guys, thoroughly the clips. Great sound, vocals really clear and guitar, bass and drums had a great balance. Nice one. Dave
-
New to Sandbergs but is the VS4 the same bass as an Electra VS4 ? Are there different versions of the VS4 ? Dave
-
Another great gig Dave but the Harley Museum i'd love to just visit let alone play there. Dave
-
My dream gig Blue. Harley Davidson and playing bass all in one venue. Heaven on earth
-
Maybe in a 4 stringer.

Need to go try one see what its like but i have a notion for the 2nd hand black BB3000 i posted earlier. New kitchen being done in couple of months so need to wait till next year. 60th birthday so that might work very well and the Yamaha shape fits in well with my 70;s Glam covers band. Al...........i'm beginning to hate you Dave
-
Now that in a 4 stringer would be nice. Mmmm STOP IT Al. its not fair. GAS is rising again. Dave
-
better balance across the strings either tension or tonal i'm guessing. Not seen that done before. Dave

There's no icon for throwing up so SAD will have to do. Surgeon said it was a cluster cyst so i'm guessing one root with several bags stretching from it. 2 large and few smaller ones all removed. If a cyst bursts it can get poisin into blood stream and can be quite serious. Ihad the first one for about 20+ yrs and had regular ultrasound scans if anything changed. Just very uncomfy. Anyway i'm drifting off thread here. Dave
