  1. Cheers @jacko got them on my fretted Sandberg VM4. Been thru x2 6hr rehearsals plus practising 1-2 hrs most days at home approx last month. It did take me a little getting used to them at first as your fingers move so freely on them. Did miss the zing from the rounds i was using but not enough to put me off them. Most songs we play the zing gets lost in the mix anyway. Dave
  2. I'l be trying out flats at a gig tomorrow night for the first time in 35 yrs. Depending on how it goes will decide whether i remain with them. To be fair they sound good in rehearsals so i'm expecting same at gig. Dave
  3. OR "ok we'll leave"
  4. I've only just gone back to flats after 35 yrs and in the house the thud but within the band setting they sound really good at louder volumes. La Bella Low Tension flats 40-95 lights I also have my EQ almost flat on the amp with a little bass boost on bass. Sandberg VM4, If i ramp up the high end / treble on the bass i get a really nice click from the frets / strings when i dig in. Fingerstyle with no nail attack here either. Obviously the sustain isn't same as rounds i was using but we don't play slow songs where bass rings out on notes. Not sure if that helps at all. Dave
  5. I'll be getting my order in for the follow up. 1st one was a great read and the 2nd sounds like its gonna be just as much fun. Dave
  6. What was the cause for Axel Rose one. He's a bit of a silly billy at best of times IMO and can't stand him to be honest with his wee petted lip. Think there area few of Kiss having audience issues
  7. Little bits remind me of the Top Gear theme.
  8. Burn by Deep Purple
  9. Oddly enough most PA's i've played thru have a nice warm deep bass tone no matter what amp (D.I.'d) i've been using. My Mesa seemingly more so but that might just be my wishful thinking . The difference for me is on stage sound. I like to hear that same warm tone on stage. My Mesa seems to give me that. When i've played smaller gigs with just vocal PA my Mesa seems to fill the room better with its warmth and depth. To be fair tho i've never played thru a decent monitor system where i couldn't hear my own bass amp. Dave
  10. Wee bit too far for me then @Painy.
  11. Band sounds tight. I'd go see you guys if that's the quality of songs i might hear. Where are you based
  12. Never really noticed that before but yep i can see that now. Last song is very Queen-ish too Of course i was never really a fan of ELO back then but am now. The singer / Guitarist went on to join ELO in 90's Dave
  13. Why thank you kind sir. Unfortunately for both of us its not an image of mine.
  14. Loving that Toto cover. First class. Guitarist does a fantatsic lead part. Not heard that song covered in a long time. Dave
  15. WHY has this not sold ? Basses don't come any better than this for build quality, playability and tone. Plus the fact you don't see many of these about.. Dave
  16. Thought i'd youtube search the band Trickster and found their album Back To Zero
  17. Used to quite enjoy playing their songs back in the day. Remember going to see them Oct 26th 1979 in Edinburgh and they were ok but the support band were better. Can't remember who they were tho but i'll have the programme somewhere. The venue didn't help things as it was in what you might say an agricultural market building Ingliston Edinburgh. Bit boomy when they horsed up the volume for Boston. Support probably sounded better because volume was lower. Dave Decided to google it and low and behold i found it first attempt. It was a band called Trickster. This is Boston from that very gig
  18. +1 on this Even drinkng buddies in the pub really weren't what i class as "friends" unless i saw them away from a pub environment.
  19. Came across this one which separates them at top and bottom. Made by Quik-Lok. Andertons at £120
  20. I had the version where the basses slt in sideways but i found you had to be very careful when removing and returning basses in the middle in case you hit the ones each side of it. You can get floor stands that hold 3 basses all facing outwards. I'd go for that type altho mine are mostly wall hangers but that needs to be very well secured to wall battens behind the plasterboard. Dave
  21. This Sat will be the first gig in 30 yrs that my wife won't be there. She decided that sitting on her own for 3.5 hrs is maybe a bit too long. Because we are Glam outfit with costumes etc we get ready 30mins before gig and stay in changing room for interval and then need to get changed at end of the night before dismantling gear etc. She used to do all the lights etc but they're al automatic settings and smoke machine i operate by footswitch as and when needed. She's now redundant NB :- it was all her choice and i had no influence. Dave
  22. That's more or less how ours works with guitarist sending out the initial draft.
  23. You're goosed then
  24. That's a bummer if the bass starts it
  25. That's kinda Sad guys @CamdenRob @AndyTravis
