That simply doesn't work. Time to replace him. It might work if you tell him that you need more commitment and reliabilty towards the band, its rehearsals and gigs. If he doesn't pick up his act then its definitely time to sack him. Perhaps audition other drummers on the side and get an idea of what or who is available and if you select a replacement drummer then make sure he is fully committed to the band. Our drummer, singer and guitarist play in other bands and its a case of 1st gig in diary gets the job. As our band is the newer band put together it will be making significantly more money per gig so everyone is keen to get it up and running and some are thinking of giving it priority if booking is a good gig with good money. Not sure how that will work out with the other band members they play with tho. Good luck Dave

A lot. I can feel some sailor jokes coming along now. -
Oddly enough i didn't even think about that Paul. The Glitter band doing GG songs. I know they started their set with R&R Pt 1 & 2 right enough but i guess you would expect the Glitter Band to cover some of his songs. Kinda makes sense for them tho. Can't say i've heard any other band doing a GG song but then again i've not really been looking for it. Dave

I'd be surprised if anyone was still covering GG songs. Unless i've missed one of the earlier posts. I mentioned that we as a 70's Glam Rock band cover the Glitter Band songs but had to have a long debate on even that and that was because the drummer played with them in 90's. Dave

Agreed 100% For me Jackson tried to come across as the timid little boy that just needed friends but the reality was he was an intelligent man that had a good business head and knew how to manipulate people to get the best out of situations. You can't play the dumb little kid when you are that famous thru writing and singing. The two characters just don't go hand in hand in my opinion.

Has anyone mentioned Elvis and Priscilla altho its never been viewed as indecent but she was only 14 when they met. Is that viewed differently because they ended up getting married and he was obviously besotted by her. Dave

I didn't watch it Paul but did one of the two guys not give evidence in court as an adult in support of Jackson. Sure i read that somewhere. Was just wondering if it explained why he did that. ? Dave

ACS Pro Hearing Protection - Help me choose

17's for me altho our band isn't overly loud on stage incl drummer. I always have them at reherasals but very rarely need them as we can talk over it. When i have used them it takes me a little while to get used to them and as said before set up my bass tone without them and once in my ears i set volume as required. I can usually hear the guys talking tho. Dave -
It was a completely different era for some of those older bands and groupies were the norm for many of the them. Attitudes from both males and females was very different. Free Love and all that kind of thing. The paedo issues are completely different tho and that is not acceptable at all. Our drummer is ex Glitter Band but we wont do Gary Glitter songs and we even debated whether or not we should do the Glitter Band songs. We agreed to do some of the bands but not GG songs. Not sure why but i would still happily listen to M.Jackson songs and enjoy them but not the GG ones but not sure why my brain thinks that. Dave

UPDATE!!! More Courier Problems! This time it's MyHermes
dmccombe7 replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
With some couriers you have the option to leave somewhere on your premises like a shed, greenhouse or even a bin. You need to go on-line and select that with them. Its not an automatic option. I personally never give them that option. If they choose to leave it there and it goes missing then its still their responsibility. Think that's taking a fair bit of risk if you select anything like that because its an open door for any delivery driver to steal it. I have found that most items go missing at the central hubs they all use. Sometimes the collection driver picks up and items scanning shows that but the depot scan doesn't work or doesn't get done at all and the item lies there in a warehouse cause their employees can't read an address and sent it. I hate courier companies. BC'ers recomended using P4D and since using them i've had no trouble at all. They do however tend to use Parcelforce. Dave -
I never used to have a reputation. I blame BC. Dave

Think i should have said intact rather than 2 seperate words there. My reputation for spelling is now in tat ters. Dave

Just ordered on Amazon Dave. Forgot i had put it on my wish list few months ago. That's me with the full set so far and looking forward to another great read. No better way to chill out than with one of your books. Humourous and Intriguing storylines with so many twists and turns. Brilliant. Dave -
Are the Pro's using a different frequency ? Dave

Thought it was to do with the laptop wireless. Its not really a problem as i don't usually have the laptop on my amp. Does that mean i will experience problems at gigs if people are using their phone cameras near me. ? Always good when someone gives me some feedback on problems. That's why i spend so much time on BC .........i have a lot of problems
-
I'm with Davo on this as well.
-
Had an odd one yesterday. I sat my laptop on my rack next to wireless receiver and the interference led's started to light up and i could hear distortion. Moved the laptop down to floor and sorted.
-
I haven't tried that yet but tweaking the amp a little was enough for me. Might try that today tho just to hear the difference in tone. It looks quite easy to change the settings. As my strings dull down from new i usually tweak the bass or amp EQ anyways so it wasn't too much of a change and i think i would simply get used to it. I suppoese it makes sense to set it the same as your lead as that way if it fails for any reason i'll swap over to a lead and tone won't change. Dave
-
Not sure if they still make them but the Kramer DMZ 3000 I remember Neil Murray had one with double P style pick ups that i believe he used in stereo mode or bi-amped in some way. For me that was his best tone. Also saw Trevor Bolder using one with Uriah Heep and it sounded fantastic. Definitely on my wanted list
-
Yep i've noticed the treble thing. I generally use a 3 or 4 metre lead at home so the difference when using the wireless was quite noticeable. Not overly bad it just felt as tho my older strings had a bit more life in them. New strings on my Jazz was quite a bit more in your face. I just tweaked the EQ on either bass or amp to suit. Was thinking of putting some velcro on top front corner of the rack and some on bottom of the reciever unit to ensure it doesn't move. I don't use pedals as amp has built in compresor that works pretty well. Dave

i've got loads of patch leads from when i had my pedal board but really appreciate the offer naxos10. I'm getting a short lead made up by our very own Bassic-bits with an angled jack one end and locking female jack the other as i'm putting the transmitter in a small pouch on my strap. Dave
