  1. Maybe the additional metal plate and bolts just tip it over compared to the NT. ? Certainly a weird one. Dave
  2. This was the version i used from Ultimate Guitar but i honestly can't remember how accurate it was (or is) I use bass tabs as a guide and work out any bits i need by ear.. Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting Bass by Elton Johntabs @ Ultimate Guitar Archive.html
  3. Great song. We cover that in our Glam covers band. From memory i thought the bass tab was ok for it but its been a few years since i learned it. I usually play along with the song first to get a feel for it and then work out the fine detail and correct anything missing or wrong on the bass tab. Love that little bass run in the chorus too. Dave
  4. On an old Epi i had i just moved the neck strap button down onto the neck heel edge and the rear end button i raised a few inches higher than centre point and it seemed to help a lot. The dive on the Epi was quite noticeable. It was the bolted neck version if that makes a difference. Dave
  5. From what i was told (somewhere) that black label pick-upps had twin poles per string rather than the single pole style like delano. Black labels look more like the pick ups on my Geddy Jazz bass. Not sure where i heard that from but a quick google search also showed any black labels like this. Dave
  6. Good advice to rotate the set list rather than let it go stagnant. 👍
  7. Jings i remember when average set was either 2x45 min sets. Ah those heady youthful days when bands were important and not just there to fill in the gaps between DJ's Dave
  8. One door closes and another opens Blue. Enjoy and have fun. The more you're out there the more recognition you get from bands that might be loking for a bass player.
  9. No but i know the guy who has my first bass a Columbas Jazz that he used after i bought myself an Aria SB1000. He was mate and guitarist in the band. He offered to give it back couple of years ago but his daughter was learning bass and she's moved on to an Overwater now. Also my twin neck Shergold 4 & 8 strings was for sale on Gumtree and i emailed the guy but he never got back to me. It was Shergolds first 8 string as they converted one of their 6 string necks to make it. Was great bass but bloomin heavy for a wee 9st teenager The Shergold and the Columbas both in this pic. I'd removed the Columbas name and put my own instead. The daft things you do when you're young Don't think i'd bother buying old basses back now tho. I have some nice ones as it is. Dave
  10. I believe he also wrote and played the bass part on Sophie Ellis Bexter hit Murder On The Dance Floor which is another fantastic catchy bass line. So talented. Dave
  11. If you wanna be good you gotta put the work in Dave. Did you get any VIDS of the gig. ? Dave
  12. I love it when a gig just comes together nicely. Congrats sir. Dave
  13. Guy added a touch of extra life to the live Floyd sound at the beginning. He didn't go daft with it but played some songs with a bit more energy and the occassional ad-lib fill. Its what got me back into Floyd when i bought the VID for Delicate Sound of Thunder. His bass playing using a Spector bass i think was simply outstanding on that tour plus he was doing some great vocals on Run Like Hell. Def one of the best bassists around. Dave
  14. Same for me Mark has replied at all hrs of the day. I've also had replies from him thru BC PM's. He's usually pretty good. Don't think this is normal. Dave
  15. Don't think the Briwax has lemon oil. I remember it has a mix of Carnauba and beeswax tho. I use that on my Overwater, Warwick and Rosewood necks and Autoglym car polish on my lacquered finished basses. That's because i had run out of guitar polish and brought it in from garage and its remained in the bass cave since.
  16. Maple or Rosewood neck ? Rosewood then i use Briwax as recommended by a well known luthier to some very famous people. Chris McIntyre. Doesn't leave a sticky feeling like beeswax which Warwick recommended to use. Dave
  17. A Peter Gabriel song with fretless bass and octaver.
  18. Another wee compilation of fretless bass
  19. Came across this and was quite enjoying it till the singing started but the fretless bass is pretty impressive
  20. I'm not a huge fan of the music Mick Karn gets involved in but i do like his own personal style. His left hand technique is simply amazing. One of the legendary fretless bass players without doubt. He's one of those guys i would buy an album no matter how bad it was just to listen to his bass playing. That for me says a lot for any bass player. Dave
  21. Depending on music style i generally think 4 mins for average cover song and 5mins for rock covers. 45min set i would be looking at somewhere between 10-12 average songs allowing for a little banter now and again. Dave
  22. Was that the initial tone or after 3-4 weeks when strings lose some of their treble twang as mentioned by others. ? Dave
  23. Superb. Forgot all about that album. Good choice.
  24. Or some nice relaxing Marillion
