  1. That didn't take long then. You should mention it to them next time you see them.
  2. when i started playing bass in mid 70's the cheap basses really were rubbish. Things have changed quite a bit with some great cheaper basses out there. For me its down to trying the bass to see what its like before buying. Dave
  3. I use one bass all gig unless a problem with it and i'll use my backup bass so i tend to set it before i leave home and double check at soundcheck as well. Aren't you as easy to forget the pedal switch same as the active / passive switch on the amp or do you leave both basses plugged in before the gig starts. Dave
  4. I also have a Warwick Thumn NT89 and it is one of the nicest basses i've ever played. The quality of workmanship is 2nd to none IMO. However it does have a down side in that is a heavy bass to play all night. Still great to play. I also have a £3k Overwater Custom 6 string fretless and again the quality is sublime but its not a bass i bought for gigging. It was a 50th birthday pressie to improve my technique and enjoy a bit of fretless at same time. Sad to say i don't really play it much these days. I have Fender Deluxe P/J MIM gigging bass that does the job but certainly isn't the best quality bass i've ever had. Fret edges had to filed down and proper set up. The P pickups are a bit unbalanced volume wise but the Norstand J on it is perfect. I think at some point i might look for either a passive PJ or try a few US PJ basses. If i can't find a good one i'll end up with a Sandberg of some kind as they have really impressed me a lot My fav bass and my goto bass however is my CIJ Jazz bass. Brilliant neck and pick ups are first class. Its certainly as good as the 80's P bass or my J bass from that era. I've not tried the Squier CV basses but i'd be happy if it played and sounded good. I do like my expensive basses but i prefer gigging with something a bit cheaper. Dave
  5. I get this between my Jazz and active P/J but all i do is switch between passive and active on the amp and levels are pretty much evened out but that's probably just luck with those two basses.
  6. Wild Mountain short-haired Haggis or the very rare Flying Haggis. Both very tasty and both difficult to catch.
  7. Email this morning on the final day that book has been delayed until sometime between Feb13th and Mar 9th. Great service from Amazon.........mmmmm😠
  8. Are you sure you aint a Scot. Let us know how you get on. Some pics maybe. Dave
  9. 👍 See what you mean and i wasn't criticising your spelling at all. I knew what you meant and was just returning the shorter "cheers" or "health" version as a courtesy but i believe you are correct that slainte mhaith does mean Slange Var as most people pronounce it. I generally just say Slainte or "slange" tho. When you've had a few malts its easier
  10. Ach ye make it sound so appetising. I might just tak a wee dram masel' tonight.........jist tae honour the man himsel ye ken. Dave
  11. Price is up and down like someones drawers but Amazon will only give you the lower price on day it dispatches but they won't go higher than your order price. Mines is due in at latest tomorrow 26th Jan but still not here and no emails to say its delayed.........YET. !!!! Dave
  12. I'm afraid i don't know much or enough about depression and what it is so i can't imagine what you are going thru but i think the advice already given has been really promising. I took a break for about 15yrs for other reasons and like others above when i got back into it again aged 50 it was like a new lease of life. Take a short break and see what it feels like. Are you able to refocus on something else. For some it might be work that actually helps pull you out of depression but that depends on the job. I used to find a breakdown where i was totally engrossed in fault finding just seemed to clear my mind of any other issues i had. Not sure if that makes any sense to you. ? Musically what about learning another instrument as a challenge ? Dave
  13. Did you get the list i gave you on the other tribute band post ? I attended a birthday party in the Rolls Royce club and they had the live band in Trex tribute act. Its just off Paisley Road i think not far from Ibrox. Might be worth trying some clubs as well Dave
  14. Not gonna manage the gigs this time around as other commitments but will be keeping an eye out for you next time around. You should try the Motherwell Concert or Theatre hall next time up in Scotland. Large venues and many tribute bands playing their these days. Also Lanark Memorial Hall, Rutherglen Town Hall and Hamilton Town Hall are all good sized venues looking for good quality tribute bands
  15. Hug & Pint Nice & Sleazy McSorleys Maggie Mays (live bands but not sure what type of music altho i think its classed as a rock bar) 13th Note (again not sure what type of bands play there) Stereo The Glad Cafe Bloc+ Blackfriars The Howlin Wolf The Scotia The Admiral Hope some of these help. These are all smaller venues that put on live bands but i'm not 100% sure what style they are putting on. You might be better googling each venue to get an idea or checkout their own FB pages for VID clips or pics. Failing that a wee band pub crawl on a Sat night might be fun. All the best mate and hope it all works out. Dave
  16. I'm 50 miles south of Glasgow and these days don't go there unless its a particular band i want to see or its mates band and i get in free I've kind of lost touch with what venues are suited to rock bands these days. My days of playing rock gigs in Glasgow was more 80's when we hada good choice of venues available. Try asking the question on your own FB page and see what your friends come up with. It might surprise you the list of venues you might get especially if the full band does it. There are a couple of venues on Sauchiehall St near each other that might be of interest to you I know one of them is called The Box and the other one is downstairs and about 2 doors along the street ? Solid Rock maybe ? Dave
  17. Ivory Blacks are always a good option and the Ferry might slot you in a s a support to make a start on gigging front. I know Classic Grand and Hard Rock Cafe does tribute bands but not sure whether they are thru agents only. Think if you advertise your gigs as Zep soundalike or a tribute to the music of Led Zep then people that are interested will come along. You would be best loking for venues who generally have a rock background or clientele. My mate plays in The Led Zep but they generally play larger venues altho they have done some smaller pub venues as an acoustic set. Not every tribute act looks like the artist they are copying but i have found the ones doing the bigger venues the singer as a minimum looks the part Dave
  18. Aussie Floyd i've heard off but never managed to make any of their gigs but i've seen MacFloyd many times altho i know the bass player with them. ABBA not really my thing but i have heard of them. Dave
  19. WOW that's like listening to Kate Bush and visually not far off either. Would love to see this band somewhere.
  20. Going off thread a bit. When i suggested this I meant start a full new topic. Didn't want to hijack someone else's thread. Anyone want to start it off ? Dave
