That's superb Marc. Its great when a company has an input on our BC forum. It makes a big difference to buyers when they have someone they can talk to. I just hope you don't get bogged down in messages now Many thanks Dave

Its not a job i would tackle myself hence the question. Dave

what glue does a luthier use when replacing a nut ? Dave

Good job i've got one, cause i'm at the front of my best mate @Cuzzie's queue. Dave

yep that does seem like a good description of the tone but i do like it. Just means i need to boost the Hi-mids a bit on the amp. Dave

Maybe i've got it round the wrong way. That's highly possible as i've never had a bass with a series parallel switch in such a long long time. That would make more sense as i vaguely remember someone mentioning that you can do that with a jazz bass by fitting a switch giving more depth. Dave

Our singer normally does all the bookings and he would definitely charge more if a venue wants us to be there longer than the 2 x 1hr sets. If on the night we decide to play more because we're enjoying it so much we just go for it until we run out of songs. I have pushed hard for both bands to stick to just 2 x 1hr sets but its difficult when your guitarist just wants to play all night every night. Dave

100% me too. Dave

Saw them a few yrs back supporting Deep Purple i think it was. Great band and didn't even know they were still going. Dave

Oh yes you are a cool dude on stage Daryl. Sure i've mentioned it to you over the years plus i hope i look that good at your age. Nice one Dave

Loving the outfits there guys. That's more like my style of Glam outfit. Nice one. Dave

I think we are in very similar situation with our bands Daryl altho i wasn't to begin with when i started on BC but how things change Once you get used to the income its harder to walk away from it. Dave
-
You didn't mention the money side of it but we would price appropriately. We always quote 2 x 1hr sets as our typical show but we are always prepared to accommodate the venue. If venue is ok with it we will do 2.5hr show with one 15-20min break. Dave

Hopefully not a permanent thing and you can get back to full gigging fitness again. If not do what i did when i had a temporary shoulder/back issue i bought a Gruvgear duo strap. Worked pretty well and once shoulder was ok i used the main part as a single strap. Still using it several yrs later. Dave

I'd be ok with it if i was getting the 3 extended breaks but it does become a long day especially when you add travel time and gear set / dismantle time but yes i'd do it. Dave

When i joined BC playing in bands was purely a hobby for me. That was quite a few yrs back. Since retiring early i started playing more seriously with the bands i was part off. When i finally got the Glam covers band going i was kinda hooked into playing both for enjoyment and the income was certainly useful. Now i'm quite annoyed if the fee isn't what i'm used to. The number of gigs i'm doing in a year doubled in 2023 and has tripled for this year but it still feels more like a busy hobby for me and i'm happy with that. I have a lot more respect for musicians like Daryl @Bluewine who earn a living from playing. Its not an easy job to take on making sure the gigs are there every weekend. I can see it being quite stressful in that respect so all credit to all the guys earning a fulltime living from gigging. My respect to you all. Dave

Oddly enough the pick ups can be put into serial or parallel mode. In parallel mode the pick ups are def louder and deeper almost boomy with a lack of hi-mid clarity IMO. To be fair i haven't experimented with that position. At the last gig i used series mode and couldn't hear the top end too well and this is the surprising part that wehn i put it into P position only the top end and depth was there. That did surprise me but i have to admit that P pick up is pretty impressive. Dave

Just bought a passive Godin Shifter bass and i love it but i've noticed the pick-ups are very hot even compared to my active basses. Compared with my other passive basses with amp at exact same settings and bass volumes at max i find with the Godin volume i need to turn the volume on the bass down to less than half the pot range. Its not a major issue by any means but i'm now curious. What causes a pick up to be this hot ? Is it the number of windings in the coils ? Is it just the resistance of the coil wire V's coil windings etc ? I'm just curious TBH. Dave

Sad news, had several conversations with him over the years. Condolences to his family. Our thoughts are with them. Dave

Still impressive tho. Dave

@Steve_M that's an impressive workload. Are you full time at this not that it matters its still quite an achievement. Well done sir. Dave

How far was the run to Brighton for you @Clarky ? Playing is still a hobby for me too and i've played gigs and it cost me money but i'm trying to avoid that nowadays. Need to at least break even. The gigs where i took a loss were when fuel prices were ridiculous but we had already agreed a price with the venue. Dave

Punk gig with Emergency Exit last night 6-9pm so able to get a kebab on way home Fairly busy but not packed. Few dancers throughout the evening. Used the Godin Shifter Classic for its first gig. Took me a while to get a sound i enjoyed altho others said it sounded deep and more full sounding than my MarloweDK. I think my problem was where i was standing directly in front of the amp it was just hard to hear an accurate sound. Some vids appeared late last night and the bass sounds really nice so i think its a keeper. Great neck and very easy to play. Pick-ups are very hot on the Godin and i had to drop the compression level and gain quite a bit to stop peaking which is always my starting point for any new bass and then i start bringing the gain back up to get that little bit of overdrive. New Pinegove strap i got from @walshy worked a treat with no shoulder aches at all. Ampeg SVT7 and Mesa cabs Great night with enthusiastic audience. Dave

What's the band called @WalMan. I'm a big fan of Prog and love hearing covers of classic prog songs. Dave
