  1. Cerys Matthews !!!! that's who i was thinking off and couldn't quite put my finger on it. Its like adding an oustanding pop singer like Cerys to a Prog band. What a great combination it makes and def appeals to a wider audience. Dave
  2. Drink more vintage Malt whisky. Usually helps me decide.
  3. Looks as tho its either been relic'd or its a good age. Nice looking bass and prefer yours to the one i found on google images. Very nice and thanks for sharing pic Dave
  4. I can see another bass in your household soon.
  5. googled and its one of these maybe a different colour tho but looks nice. Had never heard of them before this. Dave
  6. And they would make a nice couple apart from the fact it would cost me a fortune to buy two Sandbergs. She is a beaut tho. Dave
  7. What's that look like ? Never heard of it before. Dave
  8. In past tribute bands we mostly copied the original recordings but where a live recording of the band was more famous we did that version but generally speaking it was the original album songs or singles if they were released. Think there's something to be said for capturing the essence no matter what version you do tho. Its an interesting question and i'm curious to see what comes back. Dave
  9. I saw that advertised on Amazon suggested pages mainly because i look at a lot of Glam Rock material for my own band.
  10. STOP IT you guys. This isn't fair. My new bass will be dispatched today so hopefully arrive Tues / Wed. Dave
  11. Yep that would be a great match. Magnum fall in between Prog and Rock so any good classic rock band will also work. You have a good platform for teaming up with other bands because of that. Maybe not so much with heavy metal bands but you never know. Jings i'm excited for you Pete. Dave
  12. Think it should be ok provided you have isolated power supplies like the Trex or something similar. Don't daisy chain as that can cause problems with several pedals. Dave
  13. You also have the Festival circuit over the Summer months Peteb altho its maybe a little late to get on the listings this year but you should give that a try. They usually have some cancellations at festivals. Check what's near you. Dave
  14. Most up and coming tributes tend to team up with another tribute band to put on a show. Not specifically main and support act. Its just 2 or 3 tribute bands playing the one show. Worth thinking about. Once the band is confirmed on the circuit you could go it alone as i think a Magnum tribute will be very popular. A lot more than you think. I wish you every success and hope to see you somewhere. Dave
  15. Excellent well done. How do you feel about it.
  16. From what i've found its the combination P/J basses that seem to get lost in the mix. Take a Jazz bass on its own and its quite punchy in the mix. A P bass sits lower frequency but also seems to find its own niche in the mix. With a P bass i usually don't need to adjust the EQ too much whereas with my Jazz i sometimes have to tweak things more. Have to say that since getting the Mesa rig the Jazz seems to have a lot more depth to it than with any other amp i've tried. I stopped using my J bass at rehearsals because it lacked a bit of depth, not bass or Low end just depth. The Mesa seems to provide that. The tone just seems to surround you on stage. I've still to try my PJ with my Mesa rig. With my Fender P/J i just find the blend is either both pickups or one or the other. There's no gradual fade between them that i can hear or if it is its extremely minimal. Pretty sure the new Sandberg will be fine tho. Better quality pre-amp and pick ups. Dave
  17. I think the latter. The keyboard player asked if this was the new bass i had just bought. I said no i've been using this same bass for the past since band formed. Our guitarist (who also plays bass in his other band) has mentioned that he prefers the PJ to my Jazz bass as it has more depth. I agree with him altho using my Jazz thru my Mesa rig it has more than enough depth. Must just be the relationship between some basses with certain amps. Dave
  18. I had a really nice tone at rehearsals today with my Fender PJ with everything mid-point. Pick-up balance in centre and EQ off or in centre position. Aguilar AG500 head all flat EQ although the preselect buttons were in. Was really getting into it. I could have done with a little mid range added but didn't want to change anything cause i was having such great fun today. Only difference was i had lowered the volume and was playing harder with my right plucking hand. I now have sore fingertips tho and won't be doing that again.
  19. Out of curiosity what strings do Sandberg basses come supplied with ? Dave
  20. I'm getting more and more GAS for a J style Sandberg as well. Big birthday next year so i reckon that's what i'll be persuading my wife to buy me. Dave
  21. Cheers Ian i'd buy a copy of that. Sounds like the kind of books i enjoy. Amazon don't have any actual copies tho ? PM replied. Dave
  22. Really appreciate the offer to try them but London a bit of a stretch but very nice of you to offer. Much appreciated. That's what BC is all about. A great bunch of guys happy to share experiences and gear to help you out. Doesn't get much better than this. Dave
  23. Reverse neck on the white one is a nice touch. And the pick ups are more like the Fender J with 8-pole instead of 4 pole delano style i normally see. Dave
  24. I remeber looking at an Elite P in Bass Direct few yrs back and thinkng that must sound pretty awesome. Dave
