Its all about what you get from it. Unless like Bluewine and its your job of course. So what, taking a small loss for your hobby is well worth the enjoyable experience. Well done. Dave

That's quite a thunderous tone there. Loving that. What gear are you using here. Looks like Musicman bass into amp ? and barefaced cab maybe ? Dave -

Fantastic set list and a few i don't recognise. I'll be keeping an eye out for you guys up here. I do Jean Genie and Rebel Rebel in our Glam Rock covers band and i just love doing Trevor Bolders bass lines plus the songs are just so rewarding to play and they give you that little lift when finished. Great stuff and long may your success continue. Dave -
Excellent. Loved it.

I have a slight loss in my right ear but still above average for my age group including the dropped frequency. With your hearing being ok and good its kind of left me a bit stumped why you can't hear your bass. I can only imagine that it must be down to the tone from your bass or amp but even that would surprise me. Stumped !!! Dave
-
Can't remember if this was asked already but have you had your hearing tested. Its possible the bass frequencies in your hearing are low ? Not sure how that all works but i was told that its usually the talking frequencies that are first to go. Dave

I've done the pub covers, blues, funk rock, Classic rock, Prog Rock which i love listening to and playing and even tried the function band thing (wasn't for me) but earlier this year i received an advert from a mate who knew a guy that was doing solo Glam Rock covers with backing tracks and wanted to put a full band together for same thing. All done thru FB advert and messaging. I'd always wanted to play that stuf and tried with current drummer 6 yrs ago but couldn't get other musicians then. 70's Glam Rock was what got me into music back in early 70's. I'm loving every rehearsal and altho progress is slow because of other band commitments that were all previously booked we are now looking at 1st gig early 2019. We were too late for the Xmas party gigs this year which was a shame as its ideal music for that. In effect its taken me 5-6 yrs to get the band i always wanted. I'm very happy at the moment. My suggestion is to have a serious think about what you enjoy and what you really want from a band and if nothing available locally then consider advertising from scratch yourself. It might take time but you can pick and choose your own musicians whether that be old mates or new ones. It might take a bit of time to get it all together but might be worthwhile. Try Bandmix and even Gumtree for bands but Facebook is becoming more popular for bands advertising these days. Can only wish you the very best in your search for the ultimate band that suits what you want. Dave

I've also got the Pro17's but our band don't rehearse very loud at all so i've not really been using them but anytime i have i can still hear my bass ok just a little quieter and less hi end but won't take me long to get used to them again. I bought them for a previous band that were very loud at rehearsals. Dave

Bass Players be warned.

I have a couple mates who were in a good going Zep tribute band but decided the singer and guitarist would go acoustic but they brought in 2 cello players and a female violin player who could also sing backing vocals. I'm no Zep fan by any means but it was exceptionally entertaining enough so i've seen them perform 3 times now at major venues in our area circa 200-300 seaters. So you never know when that big hand will come down and say ITS YOUR TURN TO BE FAMOUS GUYS. Dave

Its an age thing. I'm 58 yrs young but smartphones just too much of a step forward for my maturing brain.

Yep he seems to be doing even better this time around with his on stage performances. His bassist is simply outstanding and makes it look effortless. Do you mind telling me what style of music you play. I'm now quite curious ? Dave
