Jings, think we might have lost the plot on this thread. I'd missed the last 2 pages of comments. -

Tight scarf or more modern neck buff does the job nicely Dave. -

Now that's what you call a serious Rock pose. Having a pee in the gents while still playing something with both hands. -

Yep you and me both. Since finishing work 3 yrs ago i decided it was time to let the hair grow again and its now well down my back plus it suits my Harley image again. Having to keep short hair at work was a bummer. Dave -

Nowt wrong wie hippies. I used to be one in 70's. I did alright in life so no complaints here. -
Or they played something by Take That or some similar BOY band they would have stayed to listen but then again that wouldn't exactly be a challenging prospect for any musician

You certainly don't want to give away all your stage moves in one go. -
I could see that being the case based on some audiences i've seen. Most of my gigs have been at venues that want to see the band i'm with at the time but i've played or depped in the occasional caravan park gig and people are there to get drunk and just dance and have a bit of party fun. They generally aren't muso's and the band is just a live jukebox was my opinion. It really wasn't my kind of gig and i didn't stay with the band. I couldn't get used to very young kids dancing and running around the dance floor in front of me. Coming from a Heavy Rock background it was quite a surprise Think this was discussed on a recent thread that was very interesting too and it really depends on the type of gig and type of music you play. Rock fans tend to enjoy most rock bands if they are generally good even more so if they have a bit of charisma about them. Same with tribute bands as most of the audience will be there because they enjoy the original band. Used to do the Gary Moore one few yrs ago and if i remember right that was around the 5th and 7th fret too. Maybe it was just easeir for them to play it higher up the neck. ? Dave

Now that would be the ultimate Rock pose. But you still replied showing you have a stronger opinion on one handed playing than you lead us to believe. Perhaps you are a secret one handed bass player but too ashamed to come clean on the forum. Take some comfort knowing that its not a death sentence, its an illness that can be cured by proper training, coaching and understanding of why people do this. Always remember you are never alone on BC. Humourous and light-hearted threads or posts are what makes life worth living. Enjoy them for what they are. Dave -

Trying to lighten the mood a bit now but does the same count for people taking their plucking hand away from the bass for any reason ? Dave -
That's exactly what i do for the bass parts i need to learn. Dave

I'm not far from you Kevin. I'll cancel mine and you can give me the 2nd book for my birthday. I wouldn't be offended in any way whatsoever. -

Yep that's very acceptable but not just standing there with your fretting hand by your side expecting people to be impressed by it. Rock poses are always good but not looking like a proper ........well you know -

I'm with you on this one Paul and i know exactly what you mean with the smug face as if to say "hey look at me i can play bass with one hand". Dave -
Good point Paul but a few good quality wigs and some Sabbath gear and they will be sorted. Some of the agencies take on soundalike tributes too so it could be worthwhile thinking about the image side of it. I know some tribute bands where its just one or even two of them that look a little like the originals whereas others in the band have no similarity at all. Not sure where you draw the line on tribute acts Dave

Think if its a "drop the hand from the neck and pose for the camera" kind of stance then i'm with you and agree it just looks naff. However if its to adjust your amp or scratch yourself (but not your bum or intimate areas.....or anyone else's for that matter) then its probably acceptable. I try not to make it obvious i'm doing very little and would rather keep both hands on bass unless its a crowd involvement section to assist in the clapping of hands. Dave
