  1. They travel long distances in US so you never know. They probably have one of these i bet. The Maple Road van Dave
  2. Or just give it to me cause you won't miss it after all this time Worth a try Dave
  3. I paid a lot of money for my Mesa cabs and don't want to stick velcro on the sides. I think the Keeper will still work on my recessed hinged cab handles. The spring return on Mesa cab handles is pretty powerful and should be secure enough. Thinking of getting one just to try it. Dave
  4. When you mention accommodation Daryl do you mean the venue "stage" area or do you mean you stayed overnight in accommodation in the area. ? Appreciate that distances in US are far greater than over here. Just curious as to how far from home you guys play and if you have a limit on how far you'll go for a gig. ? Dave
  5. I've ordered a Hercules double guitar stand but think i'll give one of these a try as they would be great on tight stages. Just not sure how well it will fit onto my cab handles as they pull out and are a bit thinner than a recessed cab handle. Dave
  6. Play along to the song to get a feel for how it goes. I'll then search for music or tabs if available as a guide. If tricky or difficult i'll use youtube clips. Start with the intro i'll quickly write it out note for note then move onto the next section usually a verse and so on. Once i've written it out i'll play it thru completely a few times and then using headphones i'll listen to it again checking against my notes to make sure its written out properly and then i'll neatly write out again on A4 sized paper. I write it out like that as i find listening to the song is one way of remembering it and writing it out sticks in my head as a back up memory if that makes sense. By the time i've done all this its fixed in my head. Dave
  7. I'm not a guitarist but if i was it would be a Les Paul. Love the look and the tone is music to my ears. Dave
  8. Yep posted them on here somewhere before but they were a fantastic band that should have been more famous. Dave
  9. Glorious weather by looks of it. Dave
  10. I use a Gramma pad so the basses would sit on the edges of it. I just realised after posting this that my cab handles have small diameter handles that fold out so the bass might not be properly secure so i've gone for a twin bass Hercules stand but i did think the MB Keepers might still work and would be handy on stages with restricted space. Might buy one just to try it. Dave
  11. Anyone used the Markbass Bass Keepers to support their basses at gigs. ? Was thinking of putting a bass each side of my cabs rather than on floor stands to save space on stage. ? Dave
  12. I had to google MIFLAW there. It was annoying the h*ck out of me. And when i found it i had a bit of a DOH !!!!!!! moment. Dave
  13. I had no idea it was like that Daryl. Dave
  14. That would annoy me. I wouldn't mind leaving a tip in a jar on the stage area but not shoved in my face on a regular basis. I guess if its in Nashville its the only money the band would get then that's probably a bit different but i'd hope the band would tell the audience it was tips only for them tonight. Even worse if i had paid to get in. Dave
  15. Do you guys have a pro photographer following you as you always seem to get great pics from your shows. Another great pic. Dave
  16. all the best with the hospital treatment Mart. Dave
  17. Emergency Exit at Tomintoull bike rally. Left the house at 2pm got there 6pm with a 15min stop at Costa coffee in Aviemore. The organisers of TMG Bike rally gave us 50% more than we originally asked to cover our fuel costs as well so all in all it turned out to be a worthwhile gig. Busy, plenty of dancing and full floor by the end of the night. Lots of people telling us good things at the end when i was packing up the car. Luckily my wife took a spell at the driving and that made a huge difference on the 3.5hr drive home thru mist, fog and heavy rain. Only good thing on way home was not a lot of traffic but weather kinda defeated that advantage so no real time gains made once we got past the average speed cameras on the A9. Used my Godin bass into Shure GLXD wireless and into Handbox WB-100 and Mesa SW210/115 cabs. No PA support but from what i was told it sounded good out front. Dave Just a wee update with some pro pics from this gig and thought i'd share some.
  18. I was really curious to see more and had a google search on it and that just looks like an amazing place. Its so different and interesting. Its a bit far from me but its the kind of place i'd love to visit. Quaint and charming. 😍 Have a great gig. Dave
  19. WOW that looks nice. Can you get a band in there Dave
  20. Pitlochry is probably my favourite place for scenery. I love the drive along that section. The A9 north of Perth to Inverness is literally average speed cameras the full route. To be fair the section from the Queensferry Bridge to Perth isn't too bad and you can make up some time on it but you do need to be very aware of police cameras along it too. I'll use cruise on my way up to a gig but when travelling at night after a gig i prefer not to use cruise. I just feel i have more control of the car without cruise plus the more i'm doing and keeping check off the more it keeps me alert. I actually prefer twisty roads after a gig as i'm more focused. Once i hit motorways i get bored easily and that makes me more tired. I took a test drive up to Tomintoul 2 weeks ago just to see what the best route was and the A9 makes most sense. That particular car didn't have cruise but it is way better fun to drive. I'll be using the Volvo V90 today for the gig so its pretty comfy on long hauls. It is funny as you mention there's always someone going a lot faster than me when i'm sitting at the speed limit. I often wonder if they got done for speeding ? Dave
  21. Its in Tomintoul which is a famous bike destination up thru the Lecht pass. Dave
  22. Today i have a biker rally gig for not a lot of money. Its a 4hr drive each way and i'll maybe break even not including the fact i still need to eat at some point. Its an earlier start so hopefully finished and packed up by 10pm. Home by 2pm ish. Not looking forward to the drive on way home altho my wife will share some of the driving. You need to stick to the speed limits as we have average speed cameras all along the main A9 route. Mostly 60mph with occasional dual carriageway sections of 70mph. Get stuck behind a tractor on this road and your journey soon becomes 5hrs. Part of the route is a tight twisty mountain passes. Gorgeous scenery tho and one of my fav areas for holidays. Dave
  23. I see what you mean about the lighting Daryl. Otherwise a good event tho by sound of it and decent money too so all good. Sure the band played well and from an audience point of view that's what counts. Dave
  24. Fit them now and decision is made for you. Its a keeper. Dave
  25. I thought his image was perfect for the character to be honest. Don't think a hardened biker image would have worked for that kind of show. Dave
