  1. Maybe that's where i've gone wrong Blue
  2. I can appreciate that Blue but different circumstances. I've always been worried that if i play every week it will become a chore. Of course that's because i was fitting it in between work commitments up until last year. I'm now in 2 different bands so who knows i could end up gigging every week after all. If the bands are good and i'm enjoying it then why not. Dave
  3. To be fair the band i joined last year were upfront about the fact they were just a group of guys that wanted to get together once a week and play songs they liked rather than a set list for a general pub audience. Funk / Blues based rock band so it was more a social event than a working band. Have to say it was quite relaxed and generally a good laugh and the best part was i learned a lot from these guys who were all older than me and had been playing for well over 40-50 yrs in different bands. Dave
  4. A gig a month is ideal for me as playing is and always has been just a hobby for me. Any more than that starts to feel like a job. My point about playing in other bands was more about the fact they will be limiting who applys for the job. If you are in another band that is gigging fairly regularly then that band would more than likely take preference over this one. Dave
  5. Think it depends on what you're looking for from a band. For a band that its a hobby with circa 5-6 gigs a year i think their demands or caveats are a bit much to ask to be honest. Most musicians i know these days are playing in more than one band. This sounds more like a group of guys that just want to have a nice wee social rehearsal with mates rather than a working band. I have mates that don't respond very well to emails or TXT messages so 3 day limit could be a regarded as being a little tight. Band i was in last year started out like that withe expectations of just a few gigs a year after a while they found themselves wanting to do more. Sadly guitarist left tho. Time for me to then move on. As for doing homework before rehearsals i couldn't agree more. That annoys the hell outa me when others turn up expecting to learn the song on the night. Sadly i've found it quite common. Dave
  6. Missed that bit. If only temporary storage sounds like someone knew they were there. I'd go with the storage company owners. All sounds a bit suspect to me. Dave
  7. I'm surprised someone would have such a valuable collection in a storage locker. They really should have been on show at home even hung in a spare rom. You would think that anyone that could afford that many WAL basses had a bit of money behind them and lived in a reasonable sized house. Hope they get returned in good order. Guy must be devastated. That must have been a life's work collection there. Dave
  8. When i looked at the original date i knda thought that altho the Youtube link seems to work ok. Dave
  9. Thanks Pete looking forward to hearing what you think of it. Dave
  10. Do you use the active circuit when playing. Will be good to get a review of how it sounds with standard bass tones. I have a Jazz bass and a P/J deluxe active and trying to understand the amp better its best to know if you are using the EQ on the basses to offset EQ on the amp. Hopefuly that makes some sort of sense. Dave
  11. Let me know what bass you use when gigging the Mesa if that's OK. Just curious. Dave
  12. I've tried the AG500 and sounded very much like a class D with a very clean sound. I couldn't take to it to be honest. Had the Genz Streamliner 600 few yrs back and to be fair i wish i had kept it. That was a nice rounded tone but i found it didn't have a vast tonal range for me but still a great amp. Looking forward to trying the Mesa out at some point soon. Dave
  13. I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer from your gig use. Dave
  14. I don't see it being too difficult to show the lyrics on stage screens either at side or behind the act. They are running them for many acts on wedge screens these days. It can't be that difficult to project that onto large screens. Dave
  15. To be honest that's a bit stupid of the band and not expect someone to take offence.
  16. Reunion gig in Glasgow. Details please. Wishbone ash tribute might be pretty good to see. Dave
  17. The guidelines are where practical so not sure its a practical situation but when i hear about deaf people enjoying music i always think of the very talented Evelyn Glennie. I guess its just a different form of enjoying music to a hearing person. With regards live performances or concerts i would reckon that if requested by a fan then no reason why a VID screen with lyrics can't be provide at side or back of the stage for deaf people to read the lyrics. The singers use front of stage lyric monitors at most major concerts anyways Dave
  18. Not at all. My wife bought several of them as either Xmas or birthday pressies so i can't complain and she can't either since she bought them. Everyone's a winner babe and that's no lie.
  19. Appreciate that you are carrying more gear to gigs. Depends on how much gear you need.
  20. I only have 3 hard cases and one gig bag that i occasionally use for "safe" rehearsals and by that i mean everyone there is sensible and look after their own gear very well. I tend to store the cases behind open doors to spare rooms. We don't close bedroom doors so you can manage to hide 2 cases behind the doors when opened. I like my basses on the wall but it did take a bit of work to get the wood strut properly secured for the weight of basses. I keep the vertical blind tilted half closed to prevent anyone seeing the basses from outside and stops direct sunlight getting in. Its quite nice when you are playing along to a song and you think "that would sound nice on a fretless" and can change over far easier than if basses were all kept in their cases. Dave
  21. Bet the gates to stop non-bassists into the bass cave. Come on admit it.........you don't even have kids do you Dave
  22. Have to say the laptop bag at £24 from Amazon does a pretty good job if you dont carry loads of gear. Leads, Polytune and comp pedals, batteries, small tool kit, strings, music notes for rehearsals. Much more and it would struggle but suits me at the moment until something better comes along. Dave
  23. Don't fancy a 2 bass gig bag. Must be kinda heavy to carry around 2 basses. Thanks for letting me know tho. Much appreciate the kind thought. I went for the laptop bag that i'll use for smaller gigs. If using bigger rig i might go back to a rucksack but at the moment the laptop bag does a pretty good job. Thanks again guys Dave
