Do you know what they were selling for before Black Friday. I mean know personally from checking last week rather than what they said they had reduced it from for Black Friday sale. Dave

So many parameters to achieve your sound

I've found much the same as mentioned above. Once i'm thru a PA its down to FOH engineer altho he should be setting up my PA channel as close the my on stage sound as possible. I've tried lots of basses over the years and when i hear audience recordings or VID clips of band i really don't hear that much difference in my tone from each bass. The only time its noticed is when i switch from a straight clean bass sound on my Roland to one i've set up to sound like a Rik thru a slightly overdriven Ampeg rig using preset 2x15 cab that gives a little flap when pushed hard. I came across this setting purely by accident. It was original just set up as a good old fashioned Rik sound to emulate Glenn Hughes when he played his with Deep Purple and i noted how it sounded slightly overdriven and the speaker flap was an accidental find that i like. So for me i prefer to be more happy with the feel of the bass than the backline sound if going thru a PA. Its nice to have a good backline sound tho as sometimes the backline is all you will hear if monitors aren't great on stage. Dave -
Does it look similar to this one inside

My last drummer used a metronome style unit that either beeped or a small flashing led to get his initial timing right for a song. He would set it against the original recording and note down tempo. When it came to rehearsals he would check his notes and set the pedal to get tempo right. Only used it at initial rehearsals and it certainly stopped others complaining that he was too slow or too fast for a particular song. He was extremely disciplined drummer too with many years experience. He was playing in 4 different bands from Rock covers, Blues covers, Function wedding band and funk / blues style rock covers with me so quite a varied repertoire. And he was a genuine nice guy with his own transport. Think i've just described the perfect drummer Dave

Not 100% sure but i think the circuitry is to stop switch noise ? If you know someone that repairs electronics i might be an easy fix and cheap to sort. Worth asking your local repair tech or guitar shop if they can help before forking out for a new one. Is it the battery version or just a plain switch Does it have 2 jack plugs or one ? There are lots of schematics on line if you know someone that can solder. Doesn't look like much to most of them

Sounds like its a bit of a disaster in there then.

i would have thought with an amp that age the switch literally is just a contact open or closed so any normal switch should work. Do you have a multimeter for checking continuity ? Check across the tip and main body of the jack plug and try switching it to see if the meter signal changes. I don't know this particular model tho and i'm no expert in amps so hopefully somebody with more technical knowledge will come along soon to help. Dave

I generally find its all a bit of a con and things aren't any cheaper than a few weeks ago. Never bother with it. Dave

Cracking pics and giving him a nice bottle of Jura the elixir of life to me. Well done sir and thanks for showing your pics. Dave

When CD recorders came out i copied all my taped albums onto CD and have since downloaded onto Itunes. That's a long way round but PC's weren't really that common when i did the CD recordings LOL I still have one or two rehearsal tapes tho that i keep meaning to do so i'm curious to see what best option is these days. I like Discreet's list. Virtually covers it all I'd just like a drummer that can hold a steady beat and doesn't completely rely on me holding the timing together. A drummer that is confident enough to hold his own and allow me some freedom to ad-lib without worrying too much about him losing the beat or his timing. I've come across the occasional drummer that meets Discreet's list and my own demands but few and far between. Its great when you do as it opens up so many avenues of playing as a rhythm section. Think the drummer in new band i've just joined might fit the bill on most counts altho he doesn't drive but singer has sorted the transport thing out so that's good. Dave

Think its nice to be content in life. Altho an Orange ad2000b might be the trigger point for some severe chemical imbalance on my part. Dave -
Saw them couple of yrs ago with Don Airey standing in after John Lord passed away and i was very impressed with the band. Gillan still a fantastic frontman with Glover and Paice just solid as a rock and working really well together. Steve Morse is an exceptional guitarist. Dave

Worst was a Matamp power amp on my bass rig smoking badly. Roadie went to unplug it and got a belt from it. Luckily i was using a pre-amp and 2off Matamps into different cabs. The signal to PA was direct from the pre-amp. Got rid of the valve power amps after that. I've had cables fail and batteries fail very occasionally over 40yrs playing so nothing that wasn't really down to pre-gig checks not being done. Now i always check my gear before leaving the house and at the gig time allowing

Don't think its an illness you have. Good chance you have a chemical imbalance causing temporary insanity. If it doesn't pass relatively soon i would suggest giving up playing bass and send all your bass gear up here to someone who would look after them and give them the care, love and attention they so rightly deserve. Failing that we can offer the use of a white jacket that zips up the back if that helps. Dave -
Oddly enough the songs i struggle with are by fast pick players like Kill the King - Bob Daisley and Ace of Spades by Lemmy. Not technically difficult when broken down but the fast pace and stamina required when using my finger style was something i had to work at. Tried playing Kill the King with a pick but i just don't have that ability to hand. Steve Harris covers require a fair bit of stamina to keep that going for a long set list of similar styles. That's why i have a huge respect for Steve Harris. Not technically brilliant but how the hell can he play that fast for so long. Hard work i guess. Dave

Recent years i've found it more difficult to get guitarists that wanted to play some good old classic rock material rather than metal or blues. Dave
