1. I would go with majority on here and say mfr issue. Hardly noticeable. As suggested just fill it with some clear lacquer to smooth it off and it should be fine. If the bass is otherwise in perfect condition i would say its mint as not damage by previous owner. What bass is it. Photo of the full bass would be nice. I'm curious. Dave
2.
I dont use the tweeter in the NY 121, I dont like the sound so I turn it down Also, have a look at Hotcovers. I had a good cover made by them.
They look good and local to me and almost on my way to and from work. Will wait till i get delivery of amp and cab and give them a call. Thanks for that Dave
3. Not seen them but have seen Ledd Zepp twice and they are amazing. Dave
4.
Congrats , Mark bass gear is fantastic, i've been using their cabs for a number of years now with no GAS
That's the hope as i'm starting quite a wee collection of cabs and amps at the moment but all good for different things i guess. Wife probably disagrees tho. Dave
5.
Minor point on the Roqsolid covers - they made them according to the Markbass specs online, which are wrong. I measured the combo and cab and sent them the exact sizes and mine fit perfectly. Let me know if you want the sizes. Steve
Hi Steve If you've got the sizes that would be great knowing that yours are a good fit. Cheers Dave
6. I'll need to look at covers. Forgot all about them when i ordered. I've got a Roqsoid cover for my Berg HT322 and they make great covers. Thanks for the reminder and i'll go and check their prices. Couple of my friends have same rig which is one of reasons i settled on it. Dave
7. Basically what they said to me. Markbass prices have dropped quite a bit since then. Got this for well under the £1k. I'm chuffed but needed to get a good quality lightweight rig with some mid-punch to cut thru mix of kys, gtr and drums in a prog band. Dave
8. Decided to give Markbass a go. Decision on either CMD 102 or CMD 121 with ext cab. Went for the 121 & ext cab. Best deal for 121 combo was Thomann at almost £100 cheaper with ext cab NY121 pretty much same price. Emailed GAK and they initially couldn't match Thomann. Exchanged a few pleasant emails with Kris at Gak and eventually they came back with exact same price as Thomann to make sure i didn't go elsewhere but they also included free delivery all done and dusted Delivery Tues 21st Jul. Have bought from GAK few times now and always been a good deal and an easy transaction. All in al i'm pretty impressed by Kris and GAK. Now looking forward to new rig day. Dave
9. Still going...... still no serious interest ?? Great cabs, lightweight, small and easy to transport. Rated 300W each recommended by Berg to use 500W amp. Perfect condition, gigged once. I keep all my gear in good condition. My feedback is all good and positive. Not sure what's the hold up. Thought these would have gone quite quickly ?? Dave
10. Took lessons once a week for approx a year and teacher said i had learned enough of the theory and should listen to as many types of music as possible and learn myself from there. I went on to listen to Rock, Prog, Jazz Rock, Jazz, Funk and even Pop music. I loved playing the Jazz Rock which was a great mix of what i enjoyed listening to. I've kept up n my music reading altho not to a usable sight reading level. Just enough that i can use it to learn songs and discuss chord changes with other band members. In recent years i have learned from TABS, Youtube and books and anything else that teaches me different and interesting bass lines. There is no end to what you can learn and after 40yrs of playing i'm still finding new things to do and play. Dave
11.
PM on the way...
PM replied.
12. Now that's a great price for aMarkbass LMII with gig bag. I'm thinking of getting one of their combo's possibly CMD 102 but this is quite tempting too. All the best with the sale. Dave
13. Still great cabs for the money i would have thought. bumpity bump Dave
14. liking that a lot especially at that price. Considering but have 8 basses incl Jazz already. GLWTS Dave
15. That must be extremely heavy considering a Thumb NT is a beast to wear all night. It is nice tho Dave
16.
Just bought a PUMA 900 from Mark. Delivered the day I asked for it to be delivered, excellent. The amp bag was not delivered. Quick phone call and it was with me well within 24 hours later. I always find the mark of a good operation is how they sort it out when things don't go quite right. SUPERB, thanks Mark. So glad I'm more than 2 hours away or I could be in serious financial trouble
Let me know how you get on with the Puma and Berg Karl. That should be a mean set up. Dave
17. +1 from me too. Easily the best shop i have ever dealt with. As pointed out before when something is wrong Mark deals with it instantly and makes sure you are happy customer. Wish i was closer to the shop. And a genuine and nice guy as well which certainly helps. Dave
18. Glasgow gig last night. Managed to catch Yolanda's set. Astounding bassist covering quite a few styles. Some instantly recognised bass riffs which i don't want to give the game away. She was def the highlight for me and comes across as a very charming and funny lady. All in all not a bad night for the money Enjoy Dave
19. i would go depending on distance obviously. Is Perth not more central to capture majority of Scotland. More than likely Glasgow or Edinburgh will have most players tho. Dave
20. No real interest in these fantastic cabs ? These were approx £1200 new when i bought them. Saving of £500 on new. Almost half price. Lightweight, powerful and extremely well built solid cabs. Dave
21. You may then lose your deposit. I would be extremely wary of leaving deposits more so now that this is appearing in BC. If you at least paid via Paypal etc you might have some comeback. I've never had any issues or concerns on BC and alsways seem to get absolute gentlemen buyers or sellers who can't do enough to help see the transaction complete as it should be. Still best place to buy and sell for me. Dave
22. PRICE DROP BUMP Now £700 for pair of outstanding cabs in excellent condition. As much as i grudge selling cabs of this quality, GAS for an Ampeg SVT cab is getting stronger. Dave
23.
I think Nick Beggs would be perfect for this gig and might inject some vitality back into the band. Just my opinion though.
Yep agree Nick might be a great choice altho his style has changed quite a bit and maybe not quite suit YES these days. Huge fan of Nicks work tho especially with Steve Wilson at the moment. They might go down the route of bringing in someone from a good covers band that is already playing the material. Pretty sure there must be some great YES cover bands out there. You would obviously lose Chris's writing input but sometimes a little give and take. I haven't really followed YES in recent years and only have a few of their albums. Huge respect for Chris and his bass style and sound tho. Dave
24.
I'd be totally qualified to criticise this guy as I also play guitar badly.
PMSL cheered me up no end
25. You don't half get serious GAS Karl. I didn't think you would part with this one. At this price and knowing your gear is always in tip top condition this is one serious bargain. If buying from Karl you will not be disappointed. Genuine, honest guy who makes a damn good coffee All the very best and GLWTS. Dave
