1. Nikita - Elton John My Sharona - The Knack Dave
2. Seems like a good buy but its a bit of a long drive from freezing cold Scotland for a hot coffee - LOL Good luck with the sale type BUMP. All best Dave
3. Quite fancy this to replace my GK MB200 and parallel with my Genz Streamliner but band is currently in a state of flux and not sure what's gonna happen with it. Shame as it would make an ideal partner into my Berg cabs. If its still going when dust settles i'll be getting in touch. Have a BUMP on me for now tho Good luck with the sale. Dave
4. Buy another rig and have 2. That should make a differance - LOL Dave
5. R.I.P. Mr Bolder. You are and always will be a megastar in rock bass world. Met Trevor along with rest of Uriah Heep at Glasgow Apollo and he was an absolute star. Extremely easy to talk to and just down to earth. I'm pretty sure it was this gig that he tripped backwards on his lead during a bass solo and didn't miss a note. He was using his Kramer DMZ and what a fantastic clear sound he had. I've been a fan since my formative Bowie fanclub days back in early 70's. Sorely missed by many. My thoughts go out to his family and all who knew him. Dave
6. I'm going to the Glasgow gig. Haven't seen them in a few yrs but I'm not a huge fan of Clockwork Angels. Preferred S&A. Sound has changed and Geddy doesn't have that clear cut bass sound. I still like them and have been a fan since 76 - have all their albums too. This will probably be last time i go. Think tickets are getting a bit pricey too. Dave
7. I was talking to Keith Turner from Quasar and on one of his early 1984 recordings i was positive he was using a Rik. He told me it was a precision or jazz with the neck pup only and strings lowered enough to achieve a click / fret buzz when plucking with fingers. I think he quoted Carole Kaye as his influence for this but would need to check if that is correct name or not. Dave
8. I have a few basses that have been bought as birthday presents or have some link to a special occasion with my wife so wouldn't sell these ones. Others i have like my Peavey 5 string i bought for a specific band and particular sound. The band fell thru and i would probably sell that if i needed to. I like a collection of basses as sometimes its good to put a new slant on your band sound. My 6 string custom Overwater fretless was a special i had always wanted and was able to afford for my 50th. Wouldn't do that too often. Currently looking at a Korean made Epi Thunderbird for a very good price from a friend who needs the cash. My goto bass is generally my Jazz. Dave
9. Used the single channel version in studio and very nice clean sound via an Ampeg 8x10. Good luck with sale. Dave
10.
I don't get the top premier cru mojo at every single gig. If I do it's right from the off. The drummer takes a couple of songs to get in his groove and the singer/guitarist used to go off the boil at the end until we sorted out what the problem was. So it used to be best to catch the middle of our sets. When you know you're all firing on all cylinders it's the best feeling ever.
Curious - what was the problem with singer going off the boil towards the end. ? Dave
11. From very first song and feels best when the band are acting as a single unit because we have rehearsed sufficently to ensure no mistakes. Add that to the audience feedback and encouragement and you have the single most exquisite feeling in the world - sorry 2nd best. Got carried away there for a mo. I've been playing for 37yrs now and still this is what does it for me. As the set progresses i find i am more relaxed and can enjoy it more but that initial first few songs is what really hits home for me. Dave
12. I like mine. Great looker and great to play. Dave
13.
And, as someone mentioned on here a long time back, if they ask for your cert, ask for their fixed installation certificates. Most will walk away.
Good point. At work i need to have every piece of kit checked and all fuse / distribution boards checked so works both ways i guess. Must admit i never gave this a 2nd thought to be honest but i'm lucky enough to have electricians with the gear to PAT test. Dave
14. Thanks Rich , very much appreciated. Unit works a treat. Used throughout 6 hr rehearsal on Sunday and it does exactly what it says it does. Fantastic bit of kit. All the best Dave
15. I think it was approx 1yr but so long ago it might have been longer. I attended lessons for 9-12 mths and wasn't long after that i played in a rock band. We were s**t tho from memory. Totally disorganised - LOL Dave
16. Bought an Aphex Compressor from Rich and it's exactly what i was looking for. Great piece of kit. Perfect transaction with absolutely no fuss. Posted and delivered exactly as Rich said he would. Brilliant communication and was kept up to date throughout. You couldn't ask for a better seller. Buy with absolute confidence from Richard. Cheers and thanks again Dave
17. 18. Thanks Bluejay, My soft spot is for Thumb NT's. I've just loved them since they came out and Jack Bruce is my idol so i had no choice but to buy one many moons ago. Do like those Jack Bruce ones tho - Mmmmmmm !!!!!!! Cheers Dave
19. WHY ??? Only just picked up on this one mate and brilliant to see how you've progressed but i really need to know why you shoved your hand into a moving fan. ?? You kinda lost me with that thinking - Its amazing how surgeons can patch us up after we do something slightly silly but we still carry on doing them. Its also brilliant that you can laugh about it. PS it definately looks like a bottle opener - Are they gonna remove it later. Could come in handy at parties - All the very best Dave
20. Real nice touch. Brings a wee tear to my eye to see friends rally round under sad circumstances and pull this off. Brilliant and thanks for making my day. Dave
21. Keep the Thumb and look at other 6 string options. I recently bought a Peavey Cirrus 5er as it was circa £450 and its a great bass to play. I also have an 89NT thumb with EMG's, 2 Overwaters, Jazz and this is pretty decent bass too. Sometimes we dont need to pay a fortune and some of the cheaper range basses are pretty good these days. Give it some thought and don't rush in without trying some other basses first as there are many good 6 stringers out there for well under the £1000. Good luck in your search mate Dave
22.
That`s noble of you Ped. I used to deliver medical oxygen to the SSPCA dog home in Glasgow and they had/have a shocking number of staffie`s who have been mistreated and abandoned in their kennel`s.
Do you work for a well known Gases company in Cambuslang by any chance ?
23. Nice for a lazy sunday morning. thanks for posting. Dave
