  1. What;s the bass there @Woodinblack. I can see the neck led's but the body looks blue and lit up as well or is that stage lighting. Dave
  2. WOW that's brilliant, really enjoyed it. Dave
  3. Good gig with punk covers band Emergency Exit in one of our fav venues The Dreadnought in Bathgate. Wasn't exactly a big audience but we had dancers almost from the start. Feedback was good and at the break i was told by the singer that a regular band reviewer was raving about my playing. He then approached me and said he had seen the band many times but was usually too busy dancing about that he just enjoyed the music and never really gave a lot of thought to what the bass was doing but tonight he was in on his own and said he was gobsmacked how good the bass playing was. He compared me to John Entwistle and i made it look as tho it was just routine and relatively easy. Using my Sandberg MarloweDK into Ampeg SVT7 Pro and Mesa SW210/115 cabs. Have to say i was fair pleased with the bass tone tonight. I could hear every note nice and clear. I had recently changed the strings to Elixir 45-100 nickels. That additional increase in D & G gauges seemed to make quite a substantial difference to the volume across the strings. I really like those Elixirs. Dave
  4. I play most days too but usually i just run thru the bands various set lists to keep them fresh in my head. Sometimes i'll play along with some Prog music. Dave
  5. Now that would have been funny to watch from an audience point of view but an absolute pain in the bottom for any band let alone the drummer. Shows the professionalism when he didn't just stop the song and tell her to go sit down somewhere .......... outside. Dave
  6. I used to think that until i realised i'm one of those guys that has a low retainer threshold. If i'm not playing it regularly then it goes completely out of memory only to be relearned from scratch much like the Glam Xmas songs i need to relearn every Nov. for the sake of 3-4 gigs a year. The things we do for love. I think there might be a song in there somewhere. Dave
  7. I had no idea it was the same guy. WOW i'm a bit gobsmacked there. Dave
  8. I totally forgot that earlier this year the singer from Hot Chocolate Kennie Simon was coming along to our gig so we learned one of their biggest hits You Sexy Thing and he sang with us for one song. Kennie is an absolute gent of a guy and one of the nicest celebrities i've ever met. Dave
  9. I did learn Stevie Wonder Superstition because i thought most bands wanted to do it and to this day i've never actually played it in a band. I have jammed it tho so that was good. Also learned Alright Now by Free so i could play that at jam sessions but never in any band i've actually played with. Not sure they count. Dave
  10. In my early days with the Glam band i would learn any song that was mentioned only to find that when i turned up at a rehearsal no-one else had learned them or the band decided they didn't fancy it and hadn't done it. There would be songs suggested that i learned ready for next rehearsal to find the band hadn't but did want to do in the future. It happened so often i now will not learn a song until the full band agrees on our private chat line. Dave
  11. Not sure if i posted this one before. Back in this venue tonight with same band Emergency Exit. Dave
  12. Rush All The Worlds a Stage Genesis Seconds Out Pink Floyd Delicate Sound of Thunder
  13. Would love to see this duo. It just sounds like an amazing project. Dave
  14. If you are enjoying it then that's a big plus altho its better to have an idea of what other members want from the band. Its something we talk about now and again with the Glam band. We have an attitude that if someone isn't comfortable with an idea then we just don't do it. Its usually down to number of gigs we do. Guitarist would play every night and all night but others have family commitments plus another band we play in so we have to be very open about it all to make sure everyone knows the score. Its a bit of a balancing act really. I'm loving it and would probably play a bit more up to one a week. I don't enjoy 2 nights in a row. It just knackers me. Dave
  15. Yip i've used JMB too and had a fair bit of success with it. I did find a lot of the messages i sent got no response tho but that's the nature of the business these days. Dave
  16. Not a problem if its all up front what the organiser needs for them. With our punk band our PA normally fits in cars but to take our full PA rig with subs we need to hire a van at £150 upwards leaving £100 between the 4 of us for supplying a full PA, lighting and backline plus we would need to be there early to set up and sound check for XSLF and we would be there until they finished. You also need a SE for the full night and he normally charges us £100 a gig. We would literally have been playing for nothing if not losing money. If the organiser had been up front with what he needed from us we would have given a realistic rental for the PA etc. I just found the whole thing very distasteful to say the least. We would probably have done it all for around £500 because it was a good support slot to get. Typically if we need a full PA of that size we would be £800 upwards depending on the Glam or Punk band. Dave
  17. Not in our Glam covers band but usually one of us wears our punk covers T shirt band more as an advert that we sell them. Our singer will at some point in the show point to the wearer and say our t shirts are available to buy. Not every gig but quite a few. Dave
  18. Nice one. We got asked to support them few yrs ago and the organiser asked how much we would charge to play. After i gave him the price of £250 back then i was assuming PA and lighting was supplied for them he then informed me that they would use our backline plus we need to supply the PA and lighting. I said no that i don't allow people i don't know to use my bass rig plus we hadn't quoted for supplying a full PA rig and lights. Think it was more an issue with the sneakiness of the organiser than the band to be fair. Have a great gig. Dave
  19. Sounds like someone got a wee speeding ticket there @ped. It does annoy me too. Oddly enough i had a police car outside my house today with a speed camera in our wee village road. Can only guess something has happened on the road or someone has complained about the speeding as its a long straight road. Dave
  20. That's good news. The amount of heat generated from valves is quite surprising. You wouldn't want to touch one. Dave
  21. Yep that's the same with mine. I was thinking the top of the amp was very hot first time i used it but not enough to bother me. Most small footprint all valve amps get very hot. Just remember to switch off right away after a gig and allow time for it to cool a bit before throwing in the back of your car and try and store flat on its feet. Let us know what reply you get tho just in case something aint right. Have to say it works without issue. Dave
  22. My WB100 runs pretty hot too. Hotter than the Marshalls our guitarists use. Its an all valve amp in a small box so you are gonna get a fair bit of heat next to the casings. Other valve amps would have a larger gap between the top of the valves and the top of the amp with a grill for ventilation. Can't remember if it has a fan in it or not. Can't say i've heard one when i've used it at home on the odd occasion. iI'd agree about same a s hot Latte is probably a good description. Dave
  23. Well done and good to see you back out gigging. Dave
