To be honest i was a bit wary of posting that as there is always a risk of death involved with anything electrical especially if you don't know what you're doing. Dave
-
Not sure whether i should say this but sometimes a loose circuit board connector can cause this type of issue, even a loose preamp valve, perhaps happening during transit. I have an electrical / electronic background and appreciate the hazards involved in this but i would remove the cover and using a plastic rod or even the round end of a plastic pen just push down on any circuit board connectors to make sure they are fully seated. Even try removing and replacing the pre-amp valve but only if you are confident and capable. There is a risk of shock from stored energy in capacitors and valves even tho an amp is unplugged from the mains. Dave
-
Yep i've always found that there's a point where the energy is felt on stage but its still not deafening. Once you find that point you just remember where your volumes were and start from there. Some venues have asked us to turn down the guitar and bass amps so they can control sound out front but you need to balance your amp against the drummers volume on stage otherwise you cant hear yourself over the drums unless they have a decent monitor system and know how to use it. Same here Dave. My current drummer says he has to to hear the bass. Same drummer in both bands so that's handy. Dave
-
Perhaps its because the younger generation are listening to MP3 downloads rather than vinyl or CD and don't generally hear the low and high ends. In my day we all had Hi-fi separates with decent speakers so we could hear the bass and treble clearly. Nowadays its all earplugs or smaller bluetooth speakers. Something has got lost in the translation. They don't know what they're missing. Dave

Seems a bit extreme to buy a new one or go for the WB-100 when it might be a simple fix by your local tech. When my tech guy looked at my first WB-100 he said it was a basic all valve amp and no big issues working on it if it came to it. Dave
-
Depending how busy he is it can take a few days to a week before he'll reply. Is it a new or 2nd hand one. It might be easier to take to a local tech guy rather than return it to Poland. Postage is a pain and can take weeks to get it there and same on way back. There's nothing in the amps that a decent tech couldn't sort. Dave

Not sure what's going on there but i've had issues with some amps doing odd things when the mains plug at the back hasn't been fully inserted. Other than that maybe a message to HB see what they suggest. Dave

Not shipping to UK is enough to put me off buying their basses again. Dave

He's not bad for a 73 yr old to be fair. Dave

We thoroughly enjoyed it Lee. Sound where i was standing was great. Bass level dropped a bit where Ted your SE was standing with the desk tablet. That was a bit unusual but overall it was a great night. Choice of songs was brilliant. When you started i thought you were copying my bands sets doing T.Rex then Undertones. Liked that J bass and you had a nice warm rounded tone thru the Fender amp. Singer is excellent covering a fair range of styles there. Have to say your own vocals are excellent but you lack a bit of self confidence there so get into it and don't be so shy about your singing. It was good. Young guitarist did a top job with all the solos. Drummer was solid and nice DW kit too altho not sure i would tell him otherwise. He was quite well built lad. All in all it was great to finally see your band and catch up with you and Ted again. Last time was at Ted;s gig in same venue. The guy next to me was also a drummer and Ted your SE is a guitarist singer so you had the best audience for a gig in your local bar You did well, i enjoyed it and i was sober too. Dave

Have you fitted a set of Aguilars in there. How do they sound. Sometimes i think the standard Sandberg pick ups are a bit sterile and have no warmth like my fenders. I still like them but best of both worlds would be Sandberg bass with Fender pick ups. Dave

Came across the amazing Mark Clarke playing the Heep song WHY with tribute band Heep Freedom and confirmed my original suspicions that it wasn't Gary Thain because it sounded more like a Gibson EB3 that Mark tended to use back then.. Great band and a great version from Mark This also goes to show that your tone comes from your fingers as Mark is actually using a P bass in this one. Dave

I prefer pockets that fasten tight rather than the open top ones. Sometimes my bag has some issues remaining in the upright position and has been reprimanded on many occasions for taking these unwanted excursions during warp transport to and from gigs. Dave

We roll our vinyl backdrop around a 2" plastic tube and then pop it into one of those carboard tube boxes used for large drawings. Keeps it crease free. Dave

I like that bag but not sure i'd use the screwdriver holders but something like this would do the job better than the laptop bag i currently use. Dave

Took one of my Handbox amps from Poland 3-4 wks before it arrived and it literally just disappeared of the face of the earth. It left Poland and went missing. No record of it arriving in UK anywhere. Later found out it had been sitting with Customs. Other amp went straight thru and didn't even get any charges, arrived within a week or two but there was a full detailed list of events where it had been scanned. Both with same courier. You can contact customs with the EU packing reference number and they can investigate its location even tho not showing on any courier systems. Dave -
Been thinking about one of these from Amazon

Just bought an Ampeg SVT7 Pro from Nigel and it arrived today. Excellent packaging and the amp is immaculate. Comms was first class all the way thru. This is how easy all transactions should be. Cheers Nigel Dave

Did a search and couldn't see anything on this so apologies if i've missed it. I currently use an lod laptop type bag that also has a lot of spare pockets etc. I carry a spare class D amp, leads, Shure wireless, couple of pedals that i might use, spare strap and various tools and spare batteries. All the usual things you need for a gig. I'm finding the bag is becoming too small for my needs these days. What is everyone else using ? Dave

Historically i always kept the EQ on my active basses flat and adjusted the amp to get tone i want. That was fine in originals bands but now i'm doing covers i need more flexibility and now i have my amp bass knob at 1-2 o'clock with M & T flat and tweak the EQ on my bass to suit the songs i'm doing. Mostly i tweak the B knob a bit to suit room and use the treble to get a more subtle smooth tone or a clicky edgy tone. A bit of a balancing act but i don't generally max any of the active EQ controls. I've had the T up or down a fair old whack possibly all way off in some songs but depends on room and string age. Interesting topic as i've always wondered about this and what others tended to go for. Dave

vinyl backdrop with ringed holes along all edges. Hang it using bungees taking a box of mixed lengths. Also hand a bungee or two on each bottom corner to stop the vinyl curling inwards. Also take some large sized mapping pins so that if nothing to hang from you can pop a few in a wall with minimum hole and hang the vinyl directly onto the mapping pins. Dave

Watched a few of your vids on FB but as you mentioned its difficult to hear the bass on its own. You do have a unique RH style going on there. Like it. Dave

Nice, how does it sound live. Dave
