  1. I found the feedback switch tightens up the low end. That's just my own experience and i'm not sure what the technical answer might be. It feels like it cuts low end boom a bit. I normally have it on normal but i'm going to try it both ways on Sat night at sound check at decent volumes to see the effect it has. I have the A4 info sheet i got with the amp but not sure what i did with it to see what the explanation is again. If i come across it i'll post it here. Dave
  2. Pretty sure @theplumber had some spares ordered recently. Stevie ?. Dave
  3. You won't find a better Fender J bass than these CIJ versions. I'd never part with mine. This is an incredible price for a cracking bass. Dave
  4. Main reason i have a wireless is i wear platform boots in the 70's Glam covers band and i don't want to be tripping over cables. Its hard enough walking in those boots 😂 Dave
  5. I've been doing some experimentation with the WB-100 mk2. At one of the gigs where i was struggling with my tone even tho i was using my Gramma pad i ended up boosting the bass to around 2 and cut mids to 11 and treble flat. Gain at 12 and master 11-12 o'clock. No buttons selected. Mid was on the higher freq (i think its 500Hz but would need to double check) It sounded great standing directly in front of the amp but hearing various phone recordings the clarity was lost. I can normally hear the mids clearly. That was a mistake. Got the amp home and found with the same bass that it was very low ended tone and a bit boomy. Where i ended up was Gain 12, Bass flat, Mid 1 (on lower freq), Treble at 11, Master as required. No buttons selected. I think bringing B back to flat and boosting the low mids will stop any chance of boom but still give me a nice clean low end. I believe it was simply down to lack of volume in the mix making me think it was an EQ issue. Luckily i can ramp the amp up at home to a decent volume altho its never the same as a live gig volumes. I once read somewhere that you should set EQ flat and get your volume level set and then tweak your EQ. I need to keep that in mind at every gig especially now that i'm using the gramma pad for almost every gig. Dave
  6. If i remember right Gary Thain had a bad shock from his gear back in 70's Dave
  7. Got the new cable from designacable and its far better quality cable than the original Shure version. The angled jack makes a huge difference meaning the jack cable doesn't hit my leg when moving about on stage. Less risk of damage too. Dave
  8. When i saw the bass tab and octaves i could remember that being a difficult bit to get the timing right especially if your drummer does the live sped up version. Going back a few yrs since doing it properly probably back in 70's. Last time i jammed it i'm sure i just played straight 8's instead of the octave thing mainly because i'd forgotten all about it. Dave
  9. Its one of those songs i was brought up on and one of the first rock songs i tried on bass. Was just having a look at the tab for Paranoid and had forgotten all about the chorus octave 8ths. Dave
  10. That looks good too and can do more with it. Dave
  11. Have to admit i was surprised last year when the gym owner who is in his 30's started playing AC/DC and even more surprised when a lot of girls / women knew who they were and told him it was great to work out to. A classic band never dies Dave
  12. Thinking of getting one too. Screwfix have them. Want one i recognise the manufacturer. Megger version is a little more expensive at £20 but worth it i reckon. Dave.
  13. Please note i was kidding with my earlier comment on who copied who in 80's. I went with Warwick in late 80's because they were more readily available in Scotland thru Sound Control. I had never seen a Spector bass at that time. Have to say i like that bass. Dave
  14. Think you're just fuelling the fire now @cheddatom. We all know Spector copied Warwick back in the 80's Oh happy days. Dave
  15. Those Portaflex amps seem to be quite popular at the moment. Had a wee listen to the reviews on line and they sound pretty close to the SVT amps. Had an SVT4 Pro but experienced so many issues with it i found myself dismissing Ampeg after that but looks like they've now got their quality control sorted. Dave
  16. Smaller fans dont seem to do much for me but these larger 18" gym fans seem to produce cool air at decent volumes. Must be because of the size. I'm never without it in warmer gigs these days. (our bands ages vary but up to 64) Think when you're younger you don't bother too much about a bit of sweat. Dave
  17. Any water is good for you but Its better drinking room temp water or tap water temp, you can drink more than if chilled plus chilled water can induce sinus problems and sore throats. Dave
  18. Would be good to know what gear you were using. There seems to be a water based theme in your name and venues you play Dave
  19. If i remember right there are some triplets in that song too C-G-C then up to D-A-D. Dave
  20. Seriously guys invest in one or two of these. Drummer has one and i have one blowing across the stage front. Planning to get another for other end of the stage (floor 😂) area I got mine from Amazon but B&M and other stores do cheaper versions. Dave
  21. Too late to offer any advice but glad it all went well for you guys. Pretty decent gear too. Nice bass rig. Dont forget to add your gig comment to the How Was Your Gig Last Night thread when you get a gig pic or vid. Dave
  22. Socket tester is a handy gadget but what do you do when you come a cross a system with a fault. ? Do you wait for the owner to get an electrician ......... if he can ? Do you cancel the gig at last minute (unpaid) Do you tackle a repair yourself (if qualified of course) Its a tricky one. I've come across double sockets that have been dodgy and i just don't use those particular sockets. An RCD wont prevent an earth fault / shock as far as i know. Dave
  23. Is it brain fog or are you finding some of it difficult to play. Remember Geezer is/was a competent player Someone asked me to play that at a wee jam and could i remember how it went. Lots of wee fiddly bits in there. I never really had an issue until playing it in a band situation where it was played a bit faster than i expected. Dave
  24. Rock & Roll lifestyle just never ends for you Dave
  25. WOW that's a busy busy day and all credit to you for it. Dave
