  1. That looks like a nice bass set up. What are you using ? I know its ampeg but what versions Dave
  2. What gear are you using @Obrienp. Its always good to let us geeks know the gear in use. Yes i am one of those sad peoples that likes details. Dave
  3. I've seen a few Blackstar amps / combos as backline at gigs now but i've always just used my own gear. Good to know they are good quality amps. Dave
  4. So what gear are you using. Gotta give us some details other than the fact i can see most of it What amp are you using ? Dave
  5. This link is for the UK Amazon page Daryl and for some odd reason its showing the black version. Its the MM14 one i have but they do others depending on your wireless transmitter size. Think your Line 6 one is similar to my Shure transmitter. Might tell you on the description somewhere. Dave http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08VZ5YJ7N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
  6. I bought a Levy's pouch that attaches to my strap. Very secure too. Dave
  7. I got the impression it was already supplied at the gig as he mentions his trusty Ashdown rig for next gig. ? I might be the one that's picked it up wrong to be fair. Dave
  8. I bought it mainly for the Glam band as wearing platform boots makes it too easy to trip over your lead and it gives me the freedom to move across to the guitarist for some head-banging stuff Because its secured to my strap its just easier to use it every gig now. Dave
  9. That would be pretty good to see. I'm not really a punk fan but i've certainly taken a huge liken to SLF solely based on the bass player and the song melodies are far better than many of the punk bands from that era. Just great songs all round. A very exceptional band IMHO. Wonder if there are any vids of Foxton playing with them. I'm off to Youtube now to check. Dave Found one :-
  10. Must admit i do like the bassist with SLF. He plays some nice riffs and had a fantastic tone in the earlier days with the Guild bass. Not so much these days with his Stingray bass. No clarity with it which surprises me with a Stingray bass. Maybe its just his amp settings or FOH mix. Dave
  11. Small venue Daryl. Its a vocal PA only. My gear is :- Sandberg MarloweDK bass Shure wireless (it has built in tuner so i use every gig now) Ampeg SVT7 Pro Mesa Subway SW210 & 115 cabs with the 115 on top. Cabs are lightweight at circa 20Kg each. I very rarely go thru PA to be honest. Only when the venue supplies the PA altho we are looking at changing it so that we all go thru PA to give a more balanced sound across the stage. Its funny how my tone thickens up with more depth when there's a larger crowd. When a venue is empty during soundcheck it always feels a bit thinner.
  12. I should have known better from you but i can never tell whether you are pulling my leg or not. How many times have you caught me out ? Because I don't speak French i don't understand the humour Dave
  13. Mesa Subway cabs relatively newish and well looked after and they sound ok with my VM4. Only thing i can think of is the horn may have been turned up since last gig with my Sandberg VM4. Gain was at 12 o'clock and slight compression. The Marlowe always has a bit of a rip to its tone. Maybe its because i keep the action quite low and hit my strings quite hard. ? The volume was really low too so the cabs were hardly doing anything. We were asked to keep volume down. Not sure really. I do play lighter with the VM4. Dave
  14. Oddly enough i thought it sounded a bit shallow but its difficult to tell on a mobile Vid. The amp is set up for my VM4 and sounds a lot deeper with it. I need to spend a bit more time experimenting with the tone using the Marlowe bass or even my Jazz. Ampeg SVT7 and Mesa SW210/115 cabs. I now use the Gramma Pad every gig. Have the bass at 3 o'clock and everything else is flat. I've used the same settings in other venues and it sounded better so maybe just where he was standing. He was approx 2m from my amp. Nicer with decent headphones. Dave
  15. Its a good one and a keeper Daryl. Dave
  16. This surfaced from our gig on Sat night. SLF Gotta Getaway. This is the 2nd time we've tried playing this so its not quite there and a bit of work in progress. Great song tho. The vocals are louder in the mix but camera was just in between PA cabs which were angled outwards. Dave
  17. Something you can consider if its all about creating an atmosphere is free tickets to close friends and family. I've always found that the more people you can get into the venue the better the band will play. Don't over-price your tickets either. Keep it low and just enough to cover the hire of the venue if you can and if it means taking a bit f a loss that is acceptable to all band members it will get you noticed more. Consider hiring a photographer or vids that you can use as advertising and to show other venues what you look like and how you sound.. I'm old school and we still hand out posters with band pics to any venues we play. Most put them up well before the gig and it attracts the attention of passers by in the venues who may not have heard we are playing. It all helps. Look out local Facebook gig guide pages in your area and start posting gigs there. You can also see where similar style of bands are playing that you might not have thought about. Glasgow has FB pages where you can just post your own band vids from gigs you've done. Getting your band out there can be hard work and take some time. All the best and keep us all posted on how things go. The one thing i haven't asked is "what kind of music are you playing" ? Dave
  18. Think the Fullerton versions are the US built basses rather than the cheaper "Tribute" series basses. Fullerton is the home of G&L as far as i know. The Tribute basses are circa £300 over here whereas the Fullerton US made basses are up in £1k - £2k range if i remember right. Dave EDIT :- just saw the other posts with Fullerton info.
  19. I remember playing in the Burns bar in mid 80's just up the road from it. I was depping in that band and because it went down so well they asked if i would stay on. Happy days. Dave
  20. I see where the blues bit comes in now. Really great song and enjoyed it. Some talented musicians there. Nicely balanced sound. Nice bass tone there as well Daryl. Think you already said that you all go thru the PA. Liking that bass a lot too. Is it one of the Fulllerton ones ?
  21. Really enjoyed that Daryl. Def drop the Blues part of the name as that doesn't really sound blues to me. Its got more of a Country feel. Sounds great tho. I would come see you if i was a bit closer. Dave
  22. Romano Bridge isn't that far from me. Nice little area too. The 68 was a great road for bikes but fixed speed cameras are a nuisance these days. Did Biggar to Dover in 9hrs, 2 up and fully loaded Harley heading for France. When we left early morning glorious sunshine and warm the M74 was so quiet we just thought we would make the best of it but my wife ended up feeling queezy until we realised the bike was undulating on the road due to the speed and fully loaded almost like seasickness. Slowed down to legal limits sort of and she was fine. As soon as she stepped off the bike she was perfect so it was really weird and the only time its ever happened to her. She has fell asleep a few times on the back in all weathers including torrential rain and gusting sidewinds. These days i stick to dry sunny days on the bike. Its an age thing. PS it took me 13hrs on way home from Dover during the Kent storms and flooding mid 2000's. Dave
  23. Dead Flowers by any chance as i saw the venue list of bands this month and November. Its one of those venues that just depresses you Stevie. Dave
  24. To be honest when i'm heading home from East coast i never go past Newcastle depending on where i've been so i don't really know the A1 from Newcastle to Edinburgh area. When you look at the route on the map it does make sense using the 66 rather than following the coast to Edinburgh. Only thing i would say is that the road from Biggar to Edinburgh always seems to have a lot of roadworks more so in recent years so i cut across country to M8 at Bathgate and head North from there over Forth Bridge. Dave
  25. Not a happy looking drummer there
