That was the other issue last night with us. From the outset we were asked to keep the volume down. It was so low my speakers weren't really doing much and sounded a bit dead. For a punk band it just didn't feel right and few friends said it was far too low. Dave

Gotta wonder how you ended up thru Biggar heading from Hull to Kinross all on the East Coast. ? All the best with the gig tonight. Dave
-
WOW that's a bit of a drive for you Steve. Was he not playing anywhere closer to you. ? Altho my address has Biggar as main town i'm 6 miles outside Biggar on way to Lanark so maybe a little out of your way but you would always be welcome to drop in for a coffee and a chat Steve. How was the gig. ? Dave

Is there an option for you to hire a venue and self promote and take tickets at door kind of thing even if its just to get you out there. Some start up bands i've been in over the (many many) years did that and it does work. Unfortunately i don't know your local area but my Glam covers band are spread over a large area from Leadhills to Perth up here in Scotland approx 100 miles apart and myself and drummer out in sticks means we all have to travel a fair distance for even small gigs. We do try and keep gigs more central for us all. My point being that travel is just part of being in a band. We don't have a van but all travel in our own cars. If we need the full PA for larger gigs we do hire a van and myself and drummer share it but van hire comes out of the fee at end of the night.. Dave

Last night was a punk gig with Emergency Exit in Graeme Hotel in Falkirk. Not the best night i've had. With us not gigging this band as often as we used to the mistakes are creeping in and there were quite a few last night. Its very annoying for me as we previously made very few mistakes if any so rehearsals will now be booked between gigs. Did a couple of new SLF songs. Gotta Getaway went pretty well and punk fans really appreciated that one. Nobody's Hero by SLF was ok but something went a bit off around 3rd verse. Still not sure what happened but i seemed to lose my way a bit but picked it up again. Audience still thought it was good. This was only the 2nd time we've attempted it without rehearsals but we should be better. Its an odd venue. I always feel like i'm just the jukebox in the corner every time i play there. Its a footie bar and most of the audience are run overs from those watching football all afternoon so they just happen to be there rather than there for you. Singer reckoned it was like pulling teeth trying to get a reaction. Personally i would rather just avoid this venue but a gigs a gig as they say. Dave

Keep at it. Originals can be difficult in some areas but hopefully once it starts the pace will pick up for you guys. Dave

Even tho i buy lots thru Amazon i didn't even think of that Pete. Bit of a "Doh" moment there for me. Dave

No tension or drama is good. If it works, don't fix it Daryl Dave

Better have a look for some with covid on the increase. Dave
-
And use it very well i have to say. I had covid in March this year and it was no more than a runny nose. Don't even know where you get the test kits from nowadays. Dave
-
Hope it wasn't this covid revival we keep hearing about but sounds like you had a great gig there. Nice support slot with 999 too. Well done. Hope you feel better soon. Dave

My ideas are different from band members too at times but we generally discuss any suggestion or idea and take a vote on it. Its more of what do you guys think and everyone will comment and you can get the gist of what others think. We don't do the hands up if you agree thing but it is pretty easy going. With the punk band i just go with it as they've been together for 13 yrs i think and the guitarist was the original punk member from 77/78 era. And sometimes "Old School" ideas are tried and tested to work and should be open to suggestions. Different when its your job to be fair. Dave

It is my own hair but like all good bass players they have a back up in event of a bad hair day Dave

Part of my Glam rock stage gear. ............... honest.

I struggle with how that actually works Daryl. We keep each other up to date via FB private chat page. That works in both bands. We don't really socialise together because we live in different parts of the country with some working and others not. No decision is made until everyone has agreed on the FB message. During Pandemic we kept in touch via group vid linking on a 2 weekly basis. Just for a catch up chat and keep things in motion over that lockdown period. Dave

There's a distinct common theme other than the T shirt. We all have long white-ish hair. Must be an age thing Dave
-
I feel another thread coming on @FinnDave Lets see your Grateful Dude T shirt pics. Dave
-
Its T shirt character building Dave.
-
In fact i might even wear mine at our punk gig on Sat night. A T shirt for all occasions Dave
-
Still wearing mine Dave.
-
That T shirt looks very familiar. Grateful Dudes by any chance ? Enjoyed that. Looks like a fun night. Dave

Drop wee subtle hints on a regular basis. Suggest dropping it for a bit to see if it makes a difference in getting more gigs. Dave

100% all chart hits that people of a certain age will remember. Mostly played on Radio 1 back in the day. Dave

Rolls of the tongue a lot easier plus it can cover many styles. The minute you say Blues in your name you are tagged as another John Mayall covers band. Limits your choice of venues. I def like it simple with Maple Road. It has that country / blues feel about it. Dave
-
Would you not be better dropping the blues band part and just go with Maple Road which sounds great to me. Dave
