  1. Not sure why i haven't seen this thread before. Amazing songs on here. Always enjoyed this kind of music but i've never really understood where the boundaries were, if any. I have a few albums that i've always thought verged on soul, funk or groove but was afraid to ask. Some like Incognito have already been posted. Liking this thread so far but at 47 pages its gonna take me a while to go thru them all Dave
  2. Its like falling of a kerb in your sleep. You do panic a bit. Trying to find the buttons on my pedals is even funnier Dave
  3. The main reason i use wireless in the Glam band is the outfits and the platform boots. Its very easy to trip over cables when wearing platform boots. Removes that worry. I dont normally use it with the punk covers band unless its a larger stage where i can move about on but its usually pub gigs with the punk band. Dave
  4. I'm forever hearing comments that its all in the fingers so you might be onto something there. I sound the same thru any amp i use to be honest. Its just that some amps make me feel better on stage. Dave
  5. Great stuff altho i have to admit i generally stand in front of my amp and never see the valves glowing. Sounds like you are another happy WB-100 bunny. Dave
  6. Its only the new + version that has an additional socket next to the power in socket. Think this version has only just been released recently. Mine has 2 jack sockets and mains socket at the end. Dave
  7. Had a play at home with the new Shure GLXD16+ and its a fantastic bit of kit. No change in tone going from wireless to cable which is something i hadn't really noticed with my previous wireless but with this its actually noticeable in comparison with old wireless. Built like a brick s**t house both transmitter and receiver. Pretty easy to follow once i got the basic knowledge of the buttons but it really sets itself up straight from the box once you link the Tx to the Rx. Tuner is pretty good too and will be easy to read on a dull stage area. This is the pedalboard wireless receiver version. Few criticisms being the transmitter belt / strap clip. Its not great and leaves the Tx wobbling about on my strap so i've used the holder from the old system and its a perfect fit and the cable to your bass has a straight jack plug where an angled one would suit me better but its not a big deal.. Not the cheapest wireless on the market but i'm very impressed with the quality and operation at home so far. 11-12 hrs battery use on Tx. Will take to rehearsals this weekend and then a gig week after. Something that is a nice touch on this version is that if the transmitter goes down for any reason you can just plug a lead into the receiver unit and it acts like any other pedal (tuner) rather than re-arranging pedalboards on the hoof at a gig. Dave
  8. At least he's ok and that's the main thing for me. Hopefully he'll return home to BC and share his knowledge and experience again. I do wonder what drives someone to stop all social media but it affects us all in different ways. Dave
  9. Glad you answered that as i wasn't sure. Dave
  10. Dont know about the TT800 volume but i get equivalent volumes to my Mpulse600. That's with both amps set up almost exactly same. Gain 1 o'clock Bass - flat Mid - 1 on Mesa and 2 on HB Treble - flat Master - typically between 10-11 o'clock on either amp. I dont generally use para EQ on the Mesa or the crunch and bright buttons are off on HB. I've used it in 150 sized venues without PA support altho i'm using 2 cabs bringing it to 4 ohms. I have used one 8ohm cab in a smaller venue with punk covers band and it sounded much same volume to be honest but that's not a like for like so probably irrelevant. I did a trial at WoT's house between his R400 and my WB-100 and there wasn't much difference in tone. Maybe very slightly fuller or bit more depth in the WB-100 but honestly not a lot in it and if i was using just the R400 i probably would never have noticed the difference. We weren't there specifically to do a A/B test but we were curious LOL Not sure i'd sell my R400 for the WB-100 TBH. IMO they are close sounding amps The R400 being lighter and having no power valves to worry about in the future. @wateroftyne should be a lot more help with this as he has both and has gigged both. He also has far more experience than i have. Not sure if that helps you. ? Dave
  11. Keep at it. After a while she'll get so bored, fed up and worn down that she'll give in to your demands. So i've been told Dave
  12. If a wife loves you enough she'll let you rehearse in the house. Obviously i rehearse in a studio and she doesn't follow BC. Dave
  13. The new Shure GLXD16+ has arrived. Bit of a pain that there's no manual inside the box. You need to download it. Transmitter on charge first and once that's done i'll give it a go. Have to say its pretty solid built. A lot sturdier than i expected so that can only be a plus in my book. I've now downloaded the manual so i'm raring to go. Dave
  14. Have you considered noise cancelling headphones for the baby / youngster. Keep the bass sound true and go with altering your surroundings to accommodate the bass. Job done Dave
  15. Ah, i didn't think of that either. I just assumed it was for the DI output.
  16. To be honest i have considered getting one just to be on the safe side at gigs where SE isn't quite so knowledgeable. Dave
  17. Great stuff and hope you are as happy as i am with the WB-100. I've not had any issues with the DI out at gigs. Few SE's have mentioned the DI is quite hot but they manage to make adjustments at the desk and it doesn't affect me on stage. I'd try it first before buying the attenuator. Keep us posted on how you get on. The one thing i would point out is to ALWAYS think about where you plug your cab into. On some gigs i use one cab in 8 ohm socket and other gigs 2 cabs into 4 ohm socket. I always take time to confirm what i'm doing with cabs at gigs. Getting impedance wrong can result in damage to the amp. Otherwise great amp to work with. Dave
  18. Might be a silly one but have any of the mic stands got the centre pole touching the floor. The tripod legs have rubber stops on them that prevent the mic picking up bass drone but if the centre pole is touching floor it can transmit the bass vibration up to the mic itself. Had that in rehearsals a few times where previous bands have left stands that way and we didn't notice until we started playing. Its usually a low end hum / drone tho. Dave
  19. Had a similar experience while back at a rehearsal and a fellow BC'er explained it to me. I was getting a low hum on certain notes and as explained its to do with the bass amp sitting on same axis as his vocal mic. If i had turned the bass amp a few degrees one way or the other it would have altered the frequency and stopped it happening. I tried this at the next rehearsal and sure enough he was spot on. Now i tend to turn my cab slightly off forward facing at gigs and very slightly inwards but not perpendicular to drummers vocal mic. Oddly enough i've never had this issue with drum mics altho they are usually placed at angles on drums. Hope that makes sense. Dave
  20. When i was working I used to be same 5-6am every morning and if i wakened and it was daylight i was out of bed. Summer was a pain. The good news is that when you retire you do return to decent sleep hours 11pm to 8am on many occasions but usually cats get me up around 7am. Retirement does have its plus side provided you keep yourself fit and healthy. Hopefully that gives you a light at the end of the tunnel Dave
  21. Now that made me laugh a fair bit more than it should for some strange reason. Simple things i reckon. Dave
  22. Never too old for a bit of rock n roll. Dave
  23. As far as i know and at £550 it had better. Not seen any negative reviews or comments on it or its predecessor. It has a gain value you can adjust for each bass you use but until i get it i wont know for shure 😂 What was happening with your boss WD50 when using an active bass. Could you not flick the bass onto passive mode see if it made a difference. ? Dave
