  1. Especially if dropped on your toes. Dave
  2. Huge respect there sir. 👍 Dave
  3. 100% when i saw them on that tour in Glasgow i just couldn't believe how 3 guys could produce that level of complexity. Just 3 cool looking guys having great fun doing what they do best. I really liked the idea of their concept albums. I just got lost in their world while listening. Probably reading more into it than i should but at 18yrs old your imagination runs wild. 🤩 Dave
  4. Is that the all valve 44Kg amp head ? Did you hire a forklift to get it in position atop of those amazing bass cabs. Dave
  5. Looks like they are going to run it to the end of the year and after the Hogmanay gig that will be it, unless they manage to change my mind before then. 🤩 Dave
  6. And doing a grand job Daryl. Dave
  7. T-shirt with Road Crew - Bass Tech is my suggested move.
  8. I think that's how i feel about it. At 64 i don't feel i'm anything special but usually they just love the show. Dave
  9. We do regularly get asked for photos with the full band after the last song so it kinda goes with the territory in a Glam band. Its always fun doing it to be honest and gives you a bit of a buzz. I've even been asked out on a date a few times while wearing the full Glam gear but had to say my wife sitting next to the stage wouldn't be too pleased Oddly enough i regularly got people talking to me with the punk band. Dave
  10. Glad to hear it went well up this way Pete. Looks like a decent sized venue and crowd. Dave
  11. I'm the opposite and would quite happily wait in the changing room until the venue is empty and then strip down my gear. With the Glam band most people don't recognise me when i walk out to strip down my gear. Maybe i should get a band t-shirt with "Road Crew" stamped on the back. Dave
  12. Always thought Duran were a great band with some amazingly talented musicians. The Taylor brothers were very talented Dave
  13. I tried them in Guitar Guitar when they came out and was hugely surprised just how deep and full they sounded. Dave
  14. Look at it this way Daryl, he chose to talk with you. He went for the main man in the band. Maybe they all just assumed you were younger than you are. Personally i would never have guessed your age mate. Only as young as the partner you feel (trying to avoid the PC police attacking me if i used "woman" terminology) Dave
  15. Funny how us bass players end up with the PA cabs to set up and take down. I even store the larger QSC 3-way 15" PA cabs we use. I even transport them to and from gigs in my car. Its a large estate (station wagon to to Daryl ) Volvo V90. I also strip down all cables while drummer does his kit. I load my own bass gear into my car first and then come back for the PA and lights. My wife goes to all my gigs where acceptable with venue and she usually gives me a hand with heavier gear plus she's great at coiling leads. She goes to the gym with me and can almost lift same as me so that's a bonus Dave
  16. Or go IEM if its possible then no amp / cab to carry to gigs. On saying that i do prefer having my rig behind me. Mine is all lightweight with cabs only 20Kg each (44 pounds to you Daryl) Dave
  17. Looks like a nice venue Daryl, decent stage and large room with a view albeit the car park Dave
  18. There were some decisions made within the band i didn't agree with and thought best to step aside. Have agreed to cover all gigs to end of the year or until a replacement is found whichever comes first. It was starting to feel more like a job and i've always maintained that's my cut off point. If its not fun and enjoyable anymore its time to call it a day Daryl. Its always been just a hobby for me and altho i'll miss the extra income its just an added extra to me. Things have moved on tho and the band have now decided they got it wrong and if and when i leave will be the end of the band so no pressure on me. Its all amicable and i would never leave the band without a bassist while they have gigs but i did draw a line at the end of this year. Dave
  19. That's weird but i understand that lingo. Dave
  20. Hi Rob, the download link doesn't open on this one for some weird reason. ? The one for Endless Love opens ok so no idea what's going on. Dave
  21. I'm so used to the free time since New Year gigs i really don't feel like getting back into it again. Dave
  22. Nice one for the guitarist but not so good for you. Enjoy the break from humping gear around. Dave
  23. 3 gigs in March with Glam band. I've quite enjoyed the down time to be honest especially since deciding to call it a day with them at the end of the year or a replacement is found whichever comes first. Drummer told me yesterday they had no plans to replace me and the band might just fold as he's 66 this year and might retire too depending on whether they can persuade me to stay and continue a bit longer. No pressure then. Dave
  24. I think my fav artists that i've met have been Phil Collins who bought us coffee and cakes, Phil Lynott who played pool with us and John Sloman when he was with Uriah Heep. He was also a very friendly guy and the one i forgot who also came over and sat with us in the lounge area for a few beers was Francis Dunnery from It Bites when they supported Robert Plant at Barrowlands in Glasgow. Dave
  25. Maybe they were having a bad day ? We were just the helping hands rather than connected with the band so maybe that's the difference. ? Can't fault Mark Stanway tho. He even offered to take us out to the local chippie for a treat before the Magnum gig. Dave
