From what i can gather the GLXD16+ transmits on 3 different frequencies at same time and if one sees interference its automatically switches to the next stronger channel. Until i get the unit and the manual i'm kinda assuming some of this from what i've seen in youtube clips and read in reviews. Dave

Not sure what you mean ? I have a Smooth Hound for yrs and just fire it up and away it goes. Are the Shure systems different. I thought you just pressed a button and it auto scanned ? Dave
-
It seems to give it more character and takes it away from the standard look of VM4. Like that colour on it. Very nice indeed. Dave

Finally made a decision to go for the new Shure GLXD16+. Expensive but should be reliable and last a long time. Bought from Guitar Guitar who had them in stock and will be delivered Tues. That gives me a chance to test at a rehearsal next weekend and a gig following weekend. Dual band version and seems to get good reviews on the earlier version and from what i could find on this version. 3 yr warranty so that has to be a good thing. Thanks as always for all the advice guys. Always appreciated. Dave

Yep that's quite smart @mcnach No point me removing mine as its white on white bass Dave
-
Looks like it has and possibly replaced by the GLXD + which has dual band transmission. Shure do others like GLXD4, 14 but not sure the main differences unless its the number of channels. Dave

Thought i would re-instate this to see what's new on the market. I've had a few minor niggles with interference and buzz thru my Smooth hound and been looking at what's out there. What Shure GLXD are you guys using as there seems to be a few different versions with numbers after the letters and some discontinued now. I use a pedal board in one of my bands so i'm thinking a floor mounted receiver might be better for me otherwise i'd need to run cables from the amp to my Roland Mfx unit and back again. Any updates welcome. Dave

Possibly just the natural valve compression. Dave

Yep £840 i paid and that included P&P but i think he was surprised how much the postage was to the UK now and said he made a loss on the postage but had already quoted me a price and stood by it. Superbly packaged too with the amp in its HB padded box and then placed inside another box and that was packed with padding too. Postage can take a few weeks because of customs checks. I didn't pay any customs charges on the first one i got but the 2nd one i had to pay £47 charges via customs. I would assume circa £900 and you shouldn't be far away. Dave

Got mine last year at circa £840 i think it was. I'll check my messages as i had long PM discussions with a few others waiting for amps. Dave

Yep the weight and size is a huge bonus on the WB-100. I'm using mine at every gig now. I was initially concerned it might not be powerful enough but its managed some large 150-200 people venues without PA support and still some left in the tank too. That's me running it with gain at 1 o'clock or thereabouts and master at 11 max. I started with most of the EQ flat but after seeing WoT's comments about boosting the mids a fair bit i gave it a try and it certainly made a big difference in cutting thru the mix in both punk and glam bands. Wait till you've worked 39hrs in a trot at a chemical / gas plant then you'll know true tiredness. You get to a point where you are too tired to sleep and it takes you days to recover. I definitely couldn't do that these days. TOO OLD NOW. Dave

From what i understand and i'm sure there are some experts on BC that will confirm is that capacitors do have a lifespan and are one of the items on a circuit board that could eventually fail. Problem is there's no sign of wear on them. Talking about any older amps here. Dave
-
Excellent news. Wasn't sure you would stay with Ashdown. I guess all amp manufacturers get failed amps thru their lifetime. Good news tho. Dave

100W Stoneham valve amp - small footprint, lighter weight

Looking forward to seeing the end result on this one. Dave -
Yes i agree it doesn't make much sense. I have a gig end of this month with the punk band in a hotel starts around 8:30 till 11 ish and usually when we arrive they are still serving food from the afternoon. Once we start to set up some people start to leave and once the punk music starts we rely on dedicated fans of punk to maintain the audience. Oddly enough we have a few people travel approx 4hrs drive to see us and they stay overnight then head home in the morning. Dave
-
What do you think of the Sire ? They seem to get great reviews plus a mate has one now and he loves it. Dave
-
Cracking wee Tech 21 VT bass amp for sale on BC at £325 that looks nice. Think it just appeared this morning. What's the bass you are using ? A Sire maybe ? Dave
-
I've driven past it on main road from Inverness to Fraserburgh to see the lighthouse on holiday at time. I really need to visit some of those smaller villages / Towns along that coast. Dave
-
Its not easy motivating yourself to play when the audience just isn't there. You can look at it as a paid rehearsal which is what we do. Its a difficult one tho if it has a 2hr drive each way. Where was the venue ? Dave

Love playing SLF songs with the punk band. Some great basslines. We currently do At The Edge and Alternative Ulster and looking to add Gotta Getaway and Nobody's Hero. All songs i'd never heard before joining the punk covers band. I was never into punk back in its hey day but recognise most of the songs we do. Amazing how good some of the songs are and how much i really enjoy playing them. Some of those basslines thrown together one after the other can be quite a challenge for a fingerstyle player like myself but all good fun. Dave

The secret is to get there early before another band gets there LOL Bad news but it happens. Dave
-
That's not good or very nice. 2 things :- Why was it cancelled ? Why weren't you told earlier ? Dave
