  1. Thinking of getting one too. Screwfix have them. Want one i recognise the manufacturer. Megger version is a little more expensive at £20 but worth it i reckon. Dave.
  2. Please note i was kidding with my earlier comment on who copied who in 80's. I went with Warwick in late 80's because they were more readily available in Scotland thru Sound Control. I had never seen a Spector bass at that time. Have to say i like that bass. Dave
  3. Think you're just fuelling the fire now @cheddatom. We all know Spector copied Warwick back in the 80's Oh happy days. Dave
  4. Those Portaflex amps seem to be quite popular at the moment. Had a wee listen to the reviews on line and they sound pretty close to the SVT amps. Had an SVT4 Pro but experienced so many issues with it i found myself dismissing Ampeg after that but looks like they've now got their quality control sorted. Dave
  5. Smaller fans dont seem to do much for me but these larger 18" gym fans seem to produce cool air at decent volumes. Must be because of the size. I'm never without it in warmer gigs these days. (our bands ages vary but up to 64) Think when you're younger you don't bother too much about a bit of sweat. Dave
  6. Any water is good for you but Its better drinking room temp water or tap water temp, you can drink more than if chilled plus chilled water can induce sinus problems and sore throats. Dave
  7. Would be good to know what gear you were using. There seems to be a water based theme in your name and venues you play Dave
  8. If i remember right there are some triplets in that song too C-G-C then up to D-A-D. Dave
  9. Seriously guys invest in one or two of these. Drummer has one and i have one blowing across the stage front. Planning to get another for other end of the stage (floor 😂) area I got mine from Amazon but B&M and other stores do cheaper versions. Dave
  10. Too late to offer any advice but glad it all went well for you guys. Pretty decent gear too. Nice bass rig. Dont forget to add your gig comment to the How Was Your Gig Last Night thread when you get a gig pic or vid. Dave
  11. Socket tester is a handy gadget but what do you do when you come a cross a system with a fault. ? Do you wait for the owner to get an electrician ......... if he can ? Do you cancel the gig at last minute (unpaid) Do you tackle a repair yourself (if qualified of course) Its a tricky one. I've come across double sockets that have been dodgy and i just don't use those particular sockets. An RCD wont prevent an earth fault / shock as far as i know. Dave
  12. Is it brain fog or are you finding some of it difficult to play. Remember Geezer is/was a competent player Someone asked me to play that at a wee jam and could i remember how it went. Lots of wee fiddly bits in there. I never really had an issue until playing it in a band situation where it was played a bit faster than i expected. Dave
  13. Rock & Roll lifestyle just never ends for you Dave
  14. WOW that's a busy busy day and all credit to you for it. Dave
  15. Look forward to hearing some of this. Its very different to the usual bands we hear. Nice one. Dave
  16. You've been using that bass a while now Daryl. Nice looking bass. Dave
  17. There's just no explaining that Paul ? I always just think of it as a paid rehearsal and enjoy it just for what it is but it can be difficult to get into that frame of mind. Been there, done that stinky poo doesn't help either but look on the bright side..............the next gig should be better. Dave
  18. I did have to laugh at your comment. Think my earlier post made me out better than i am. I do those gigs too usually with the punk band but i just tuck the fan under the legs of the PA cabs in a way not to trip audience members passing by on way to the loo.. Stage to me is where the band play. That's how i convince myself i'm a famous bass player on a worldwide tour of Scottish pubs. Dave
  19. Get yourself an 18" gym fan and sit to the side of the stage hidden out of sight. Black version isn't as noticeable under stage lighting. It works a treat and at 18" it shifts a lot of cool air at you. I generally aim it towards my lower half as i don't like it blowing my hair (see my avatar) Dave
  20. Had a wee shot of WoT's in his back garden and believe me it was bloomin loud. It has that valve warmth from the pre-amp and a nice clear tone. No muddiness and i'd rate it pretty similar to my Mesa Mpulse 600 in tone. When you search the interweb on these amps they are not short of volume. Dave
  21. Aye you should know better. I always do my finger stretches before playing now. I never start playing too soon after carrying large cabs about as that causes my hands to ache and cramp a bit. I always drink between 1 - 2 litres of water at a gig depending on the band and heat. I carry a large 18" gym fan with me for the glam band and on hot days with the punk band. You'd be surprised the difference a decent sized fan makes when playing. Were you in Lanark last night as i was sure i glimpsed you coming out front door as i passed on way home. Dave
  22. We played an all ticket sell out gig in a club outside Edinburgh once with our 70's Glam covers band. The venue had our posters up and it was well advertised as a 70's Glam covers band. We had a guy shout for some funk music at one point in between songs. He then approached our Agent with same request who then pointed to the poster on the wall and said the band were a 70's Glam Rock covers band. Why did you even buy a ticket and handed him his money back and told him to fosters off. He was a tad drunk even tho it was an afternoon gig. Are those G&L tribute basses really that good. ? Dave
  23. Mike, might be worth showing a pic of the control panel. I'm guessing you forgot that one. Fantastic price for a great bit of kit. GLWTS Dave
