  1. Very nice indeed. I did wonder about the grub screw. Think i would either replace it or cut that one down to a decent length. Vigier do make some wonderful basses. GLWTS Dave
  2. I just found the Longevo strings got lost in the mix compared to other strings i've used. Put DR Black Beauties on my Sandberg VM4 and i cant hype them enough. I have Elixirs on my Warwick Thumb and they still sound great after about 10 yrs altho the bass very rarely gets used even at home. DR's are approx £20 less than the Elixirs tho so time will tell if they go the distance. If not I'll be looking at the Elixirs again. The DR's have less tension than the Elixirs and feel more like my D'addario EXL's for tension. Dave
  3. Ach you're just a lad. 63 soon and still hammering out Glam rock and Punk songs in 2 different bands. As long as i'm enjoying it and healthy enough i'll keep going. Stay positive and enjoy. Dave
  4. Is that the same bass too ? Nice one. Dave
  5. We use the venues trolley or barrow from the back room. Park in the alley road at the Bungalow. Skoosh mate. Great wee venue, i always enjoy playing in there but my gear is all lightweight except for the 2 pa cabs. Larger drums and PA cab go on the trolley and depending how i feel i'll either use the trolley or just carry my Mesa cabs. Sounds like it was a good night tho. Dave
  6. Blue Angels gig went well. They were celebrating Burns Night and we had to stop half way thru 1st set to allow the piper to bring in the Haggis. Fair old size of haggis too, must have been a farm fed one Also had an issue with lights cutting out in the venue which delayed our start quite a bit till they sorted it. Usual road closures on way home meant a 1 hr drive was 2 hrs using single track back roads to get round the closure. Dave
  7. Doing another gig for Blue Angels tonight. Its the only gig where we've been offered a hand loading in and out by our audience. Plus they let you eat from their buffet and what a buffet they put on. First gig of 2023 so here's hoping no mistakes. Dave
  8. I believe he was into his prog music back then too with Chris Squire being an influence and based on that poster behind him i'm guessing Geddy too. Would explain the Ric copy. Dave
  9. Cheers for that. I quite fancy a simple 3-way selector switch for twin pup basses. I have VVT and VBT basses but i always run pan in centre and my J basses have volumes at max. A switch would make it simpler for me. Nice looking bass.
  10. I tried it but i've always found active basses in "passive" mode never really sound like a proper passive bass. Just my own opinion of course and i'm sure others will disagree but that's what makes life interesting. No right or wrong, just differing opinions. Dave
  11. Well done and a good cause to support. What bass are you using here ? twin pick ups but only 2 pots. ? Dave
  12. I dont have a VS but if i select just the P pick up on my VM4 it doesn't have the same warm depth that i get from my P basses even boosting the bass EQ on the bass its a nice deep tone but again i find my P bass has a bit more warmth. That's maybe because one bass is passive and the other active so its not a like for like scenario. Curious to hear what passive VS4 owners come bacck with. I'd really like a passive California VS4 for the build quality but i'd like that vintage warmth of a Fender P bass. Could always change the pick up over to be honest. Dave
  13. Liking that. Will have a look on Amazon for it. Cheers for that. Dave
  14. I remember thinking the song was catchy but it was definitely the bass line that got my attention. If i'm honest i thought when they split up that was the end like most pop bands but Nick has gone from strength to strength since those days. Recently brought back to my attention again with Steve Hackett and Steve Wilson (he obviously likes Steve's 😂) Amazing player and he always comes across as such a nice guy. Dave
  15. Nice one. Looks like a heavy load in tho. 😂 Dave
  16. Not my autograph but i've been asked for a cuddle after a punk gig and for pics with people after the Glam gigs. Have been asked to go on a date with 2 ladies even tho they had no idea what i actually looked like without the gear on plus i said my wife who was sitting next to the stage might not approve. I did find that one particularly funny. Oddest one was a pic of the band after the gig without the Glam gear on by a German girl. (sounded like a German accent) Dave
  17. Superb news Jay. You have the patience of a Saint sir but you wont be disappointed in the amp and well worth the wait. Wishing you all the very best Jay and keep us all posted. Dave
  18. Bought a Gramma Pad from Jose and he did everything exactly as he said he would and even met me at an area closer to me than i expected. Such a nice guy to talk to and what a cracking beard he has. If only all transactions were this good. Cheers Dave
  19. That's how i calculated it when i bought the WB-100 but it only came to £47 so wasn't complaining. I had assumed 20% VAT plus Import Tax at 3%. For an amp of this quality at under £1k for the WB-100 incl all taxes and perhaps £800 max incl taxes its still far superior to any other amp of this type. Honestly you wont be disappointed. I've now gigged mine a fair bit and it just gets better and better. I love it. Dave
  20. The first WB-100 i got was circa £840 and had no additional taxes. Came straight to me from Parcelforce. The 2nd one had £47 additional taxes etc. thru Customs. Seems to be a hit or miss whether it goes thru customs checks for additional charges ??? Dave
  21. Ooohh they do look nice. Hope the owners enjoy as much as i'm enjoying my WB-100. Built to last. Good luck and all the best with it @Jaybeevee Dave
  22. Yep that's a nice looker that one. Au' naturale. Dave
  23. We did that with the Glam band. We hired a venue and sold tickets plus pay at the door. You'd be surprised how many friends and family a band can pull together. We agreed if it wasn't a success we would at least break even and it was just a paid rehearsal if nothing else. We've also had recent gigs where clubs have told us prior to booking us that a lot of people are still not coming out but they still booked us. Some gigs have been less than busy but again we treat them as paid rehearsals and we still put on the same full show. With the punk band i only joined a year ago after the pandemic and audiences haven't been anywhere near where they were pre-pandemic in same gigs the band have always done. Things are now starting to pick up and we've had a few fully booked gigs with the Glam band and getting better for 2023. If all you want is to play together as a band then do it any which way you can, the money doesn't really matter at this stage. Its simply about playing together as a band in front of an audience no matter how big or small it is. I'd say go for it. Dave
